Fix : Restore Internal Power Supply
Finally, your power supply might need to be reset. If your Xbox is plugged in and your outlet is fine, but you don’t see a green light lit up on your power brick, this could mean that the power supply needs to be restored.
You can do this by unplugging the power cable from the outlet and your console. Wait at least ten seconds, then plug the power cable back into the wall. You should see your power supply light up. If its lit up then you can plug the power cable back into your Xbox. Afterwards, turn on your Xbox again.
Case 2: Console/Controller Issues
Your controller could be the reason your Xbox is not turning on properly, as well. Settings on your Xbox could also interfere with your console powering on.
Xbox Power Supply Orange Light Wont Turn On
As previously said, the orange light indicates a functional power source. If the orange light doesnt illuminate, try purchasing a new power source.
Before changing the power box, test the wall socket to ensure its the proper voltage for your Xbox console. The Xbox power supply is compatible with all 110V and 220V power sources. If the current provided by your wall mount is inadequate, try using another socket.
Cause : Bad Power Supply
If the power outlet is providing power but the console still does not turn on, the power supply itself may be the issue. Check the light on the power supply if the light is solid white or orange, then the power supply is working properly. If there is no light, unplug the power supply and let it cool for 20 minutes, then try plugging it back in. If it still does not light up, replace the power supply.

Check That All Of Your Cables Are Properly Plugged In And Not Broken
Sometimes when youre moving furniture around you can accidentally put something heavy down over a cable and cause a barely noticeable rupture in the wiring.
That break could be the reason why your Xbox One isnt turning on.
Unplug your cables and look at them closely, running them through your fingers. You should be able to feel any breakages.
If you cant then replug them into your machine and try to make sure that theyre as firmly attached as possible.
With any luck, your Xbox One will be up and running smoothly in no time.
Possibility : Broken Controllers
Bad or broken controllers may also be a cause why you might experience this situation. If your Xbox controllers home button is broken, it may be clicked accidentally or by itself if the button is indeed broken completely.
Hence you should try taking out the battery of the controller and then check if the situation happens again. If it doesnt, it probably means that your controllers are causing it to turn on automatically. Do note that Xbox also turns on it any button on the controller is pressed.

Technical Fix Xbox Power Outage
If you are a technician or would like to dabble in the art, then here are some steps you can follow.
- As a technician, you will open the appliance to test the motherboard for any short circuit.
- If more than two connectors are going to the copper ground, then the power supply is OK. However, with cases having extra grounds, they need to be fixed first.
- If the supply is fine and the device isnt turning on, then the power rail under the heatsink might be at fault. In this case, you will have to unscrew every screw on the device and pull out the motherboard.
- Once the motherboard is out, remove the screws from the pressurized X clamp and the X clamp. The heatsink will come off. You can find the rail next to the edge of the motherboard along the right-side of the CPU.
- Now, find the burnt or damaged component that will be 1/4th the size of a grain of rice.
- Here comes the tricky part, Soldering. You will have to de-solder the burnt part and then solder a replacement into the device.
However, we would not recommend that soldering yourself be the best idea, especially if you do not have a soldering experience.

Can Power Outages Damage Consoles
Sudden outages might damage the console depending on the type of outage event. Xbox is an electrical gaming platform and thus can be broken. An outage might not damage the Xboxes for the new consoles but will jumble the data, thus requiring a repair/reimage.For the HDD-based consoles, the HDD will most likely be fried along with other components during the spikes before or after the outage.Buying a surge protector along with the Xboxes would be the best course of action. Ensure that the protector is of sufficient suppression capacity to protect your gaming platform from any outage spike during thunderstorms or any unusual electrical activity. The surge protectors might not protect the console from very high spikes, but they are a safe option.

Is your power block damaged? If so, try ventilating the unit first before replacing it.
To do this, keep the battery pack away from direct heat sources. Dusting and cleaning the part can also help, as excessive dirt can reduce your units efficiency. Allow the power supply to cool before reconnecting it. If this doesnt resolve the problem, consider purchasing a replacement.

Try Connecting Another Controller To Your Xbox
Like most troubleshooting, you can help nail down where the problem lies by trying different devices. Try connecting a different controller, that you know works, to your Xbox system. Confirm that its batteries are charged, too.
If that controller works fine, then the original controller is the issue. But if both have problems, then the problem likely lies with your console instead. You may need to get in touch with Xbox Support in this case.

Check for the blinking LED light. If they are blinking, connect the supply to the console.4. If it is still blinking, replace the power unit. If its not blinking, turn on the console.

Remove Connected Xbox Accessories
Sometimes Xbox One accessories, attached either to the controller or console, can introduce connection issues.
If you have an external hard drive, keyboard, or similar peripheral connected to your Xbox, try disconnecting it and then attempt to connect your controller again. Do the same for the Stereo Headset Adapter on your controller, if you have it.
If you’re trying to sync your controller using a USB cable, make sure you’re using a high-quality cord. Low-quality or damaged cables may not work correctly.
Troubleshooting An Xbox One Power Supply Thats Not Working
There’s a couple of steps that you can do to fix a bad Xbox One PSU.
Put the PSU away from sources of direct heat like radiator, oven, furnace, amplifier, or heat register. If placed near a heat source, the PSU can easily get too hot and cause components to melt or get damaged.Clean the PSU of dust as its thermal performance can dramatically decrease if theres too much dust on it. Then, make sure that the PSU is allowed to cool off if it has become way too warm to touch.NOTE: The PSU can become warm even when working normally. However, if it has become abnormally hot to touch, or if it smells of burning plastic, make sure to unplug it from the power outlet and the console right away.
NOTE: At the time of this writing, the Xbox One is no longer being manufactured so youll most likely end up getting a new Xbox One since Microsoft no longer offers their official repair for it. If your Xbox One or Power Supply is still not working, try visiting a local electronics shop to see if they can help you fix your device.

Xbox Wont Turn On After Power Surge
If your household just experienced a power surge that impacted your Xbox, try resetting the power brick and see if that works. After doing that, use the following tips to help restore power to your Xbox device:
- Verify that youre using the power adapter that came with your device and that its compatible with the area you live in.
- Test the power outlets functionality with other devices. The issue could be with your wall socket and not your console.
- Rather than using a surge protector, attach the power brick directly to the wall socket. The Xbox battery brick has a built-in surge shield, meaning you wont experience any power surges when diagnosing the console.
If your Xbox One refuses to boot after a power spike, the problem is almost always with the power brick, not the console itself. Replace the power block if resetting it didnt fix the problem.
