The price of the console is one thing, but the subscription price can often be a deal breaker. If you’re the kind of person that doesn’t really like multiplayer games, nor free games, then there’s no real need for you to subscribe to either Sony’s or Microsoft’s subscription services.

But if you’re like me, and crave playing with my friends whenever I get the time, then signing up to PS Plus or Xbox Live is a must. Below, we’ve made a handy table that’ll show you the price of each subscription service.

Subscription Services
Xbox Live Gold $9.99
Xbox Live Gold $24.99
Xbox Live Gold $59.99
PS Plus $59.99

Fortunately, there’s no difference when it comes to the subscription services of the Xbox One and the PS4. It once again, boils down to which console you regard with the most trust, or which console has the most exclusive games that you want to play. Which leads to our next category…

Why The Playstation 4 Triumphed Over The Xbox One

Sony has unquestionably won the latest round in the console wars. As of this week, the PS4 has officially sold 102.8 million units. Thats significantly more than the PS3 , and theres still a full year to go in the PS4s life cycle. The PS4 has now sold more units than the original PlayStation and is the second-highest selling console of all time far behind the PS2, at ~155M units.

Whats striking about this situation is how unexpected it was back in 2012. Coming off the Xbox 360, Microsoft was flying high. Where the original Xbox had been a rounding error compared with the PS2s sales figures, the Xbox 360 had nearly tied things up with Sony. Both consoles had weathered their own respective disasters. Sony took enormous losses early in the PS3s life cycle when the hardware was selling for much less than it cost to produce. Microsoft had the early unreliability and problems of the Red Ring of Death. Both platforms had expanded to copy the Wiis push into motion controls. Microsoft had Kinect, while Sony had the PlayStation Move or, as I liked to call it, the PS Wii.

Today, the Xbox One has a fraction of the PS4s sales an estimated 43.6M systems, according to VGChartz. We dont know the actual number, because Microsoft wont disclose it, but all reports and estimates suggest that the Xbox console ecosystem is less than half the size of Sonys. So what happened?

The Microsoft Xbox One

Microsoft followed up on Sony’s PS4 launch soon after, releasing the Xbox One on November 22nd, 2013 in North America. The Xbox 360 had proven to be a genuine competitor to the PS3, so one might expect Microsoft to continue this trend with the Xbox One.

However, this was not to be. At least, as far as we can tell. Microsoft has always held its cards close to its chest in terms of sales figures, and it actually stopped reporting Xbox One console sales back in 2015, according to an IGN article. It did the same with the release of the Xbox Series X; it wouldn’t give away the sales figures for that console, either.

This being said, the same article tells us that, by the end of 2018 Microsoft had sold in the region of 41 million consoles. This figure is likely to have grown in the three years since so, in the absence of concrete sales figures from Microsoft, we’ll make a conservative estimate of between 45-50 million Xbox One consoles sold in total.

So, in terms of sales, the Xbox One isn’t the strongest of the three consoles, and those sales figures clearly don’t place it as the winner in this analysis.

Which Sold More: The Xbox One Or Ps4

It is a timeless debate: what console is superior? The Xbox or the PlayStation? Gamers have been arguing since the release of Microsoft’s Xbox, back in November 2001. It cannot be denied the Xbox changed how companies approached home consoles. The use of PC technology really helped mold the gaming landscape.

The PlayStation quickly became a staple in the gaming industry. Sony released its first major console with so many exclusive titles. Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, and Ape Escape all became fan favorite games. The PlayStation was known for its prized titles, but Sony quickly adapted its hardware to match Microsoft’s Xbox.

Both companies and systems went through multiple evolutions. The Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 were built with some of the highest quality hardware that the gaming industry has ever seen. Microsoft and Sony both continuously tried to outdo one another. The companies released enhanced and updated versions of their consoles on more than one occasion.

In the beginning, it seemed PlayStation would always be destined to chase after the Xbox and its superior hardware. How does that compare to today?

Ps4 Has Reportedly Sold A Ridiculous 68 Million More Units Than Xbox One

  • 252

As you may already know, Microsoft doesn’t report Xbox sales figures. The company stopped keeping us up to date all the way back in 2015, after it became clear that the Xbox One’s numbers would not paint a pretty picture when compared to the runaway success of the PlayStation 4. Since then, we’ve had to rely on third-party data to fill in the blanks while Sony continues to provide PS4 sales statistics.

This time, it’s computer technology company AMD that’s spilled the beans. During a recent financial briefing, AMD stated that total PS4 and Xbox One sales amount to 150 million units. Just a few weeks ago, Sony announced that the PS4 was sitting at around 109 million units, and so that means the Xbox One is currently trailing by some distance at around 41 million units. In other words, Sony’s sold 68 million or so more current-gen consoles than Microsoft.

Interestingly, this is a gap that’s widened since we could last compare data like this. In 2018, EA’s reports put the Xbox One around 50 million units behind PS4, which, at the time, was approaching 80 million. Under two years later, and Sony has put an additional 18 million units between its console and the Xbox One. These are PS2-levels of market domination.

Of course, Sony will be keen to carry this momentum into the next generation, with the PlayStation 5 still set to launch in late 2020.

Xbox One Vs Ps4 Sales Figures

PS4 sold more than Xbox One The Next Civilization Is In Space! – GS News Top 5

In March 2016, games company EA estimated that the Xbox One and the PS4 have sold a combined 60 million units worldwide. Considering that Sony had reported 36 million units a couple of months before that, it was estimated that a little over 20 million units of the Xbox One had been shipped as of March 2016.

As of January 2016, PlayStation 4 sales have reached 35.9 million units worldwide, with 5.7 million units sold in the December 2015 holiday season.

In late November 2015, the Wall Street Journal reported that Sony had sold over 30 million units of the PS4, making it the fastest-selling PlayStation product in history, considering the first two years since launch. The WSJ news story also reported analyst opinion that the PS4 is “running far ahead of Xbox One” .

As of March 1, 2015, Sony had sold 20.2 million units of the PS4. The latest available official sales figures for the Xbox One were announced in November 2014, when Microsoft announced they had sold nearly 10 million units. The holiday shopping season was strong for Microsoft so the current number is certainly much higher; however, the Xbox still trails the PS4 in worldwide sales.

Sony’s PS4 outsold the Xbox One in the U.S. in every single month from January to June 2014. In June, Microsoft announced a $399 version of the Xbox One without the Kinect and said the move led to a doubling of its monthly sales but did not release any specific numbers.

Where To Buy Ps5 Accessories

While the Pulse 3D wireless headset was extremely difficult to buy for a few months, stock for Sony’s first-party headset has now stabilized at most retailers. However, there are some fantastic third-party PS5 headsets worth considering too. Our personal favorite is the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro wireless headset; other great options include the versatile SteelSeries Arctis 1 and the high-end Astro A50. Any of your existing PS4 headsets should work, too.

Other official PS5 accessories, like the media remote and DualSense charging station, are now much easier to find in stock as well.

We’re still tracking PS5 restocks nearly 10 months after the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital launched. We’ve yet to see a major restock this week that’s available to the public, but it’s still early. In any case, our PS5 restock guide includes links to all major retailer listings as well as tips for securing a console. PS5 restocks tend to pop up randomly, and they still sell out faster than Xbox Series X|S restocks.

At this point, you’re probably familiar with the Twitter culture that has sprung up around PS5 restocks–as frustrating as it can be to click through only to find the console already sold out, this still remains one of the best ways to successfully buy a PS5, especially if you have notifications turned on. Checking the store listings every day is a good idea as well, as you’ll sometimes see the PS5 pop up without notice at Walmart or Best Buy. In the meantime, you can check availability at major retailers here, and read on for the latest PS5 updates for specific stores, our best tips for securing a PS5, and more.

Xbox One Vs Ps: Value

The Xbox One S starts at $299 , putting it on par with the $299 ;PS4 Slim. However, it’s worth noting that both consoles go on sale all the time, and you can often find them both for as low as $200 . The One S doubles as a 4K Blu-ray player, so you’re arguably getting the most tech for your money with that machine.

If you’re on an extra-tight budget, you can opt for the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition , which has no disc drive and includes Forza Horizon 3, Minecraft and Sea of Thieves. However, the standard Xbox One S drops to that price frequently, so you’re probably better off waiting for a sale and getting the 4K Blu-ray drive for cheap — especially if you don’t want to rely entirely on digital downloads.

Microsoft has recently brought back the Xbox All Access program. This lets you lease an Xbox One S, Xbox One X or Xbox One S All-Digital Edition starting at $19.99 a month for 24 month. According to Microsoft, this program saves you more than $100 compared to purchasing the console and bundled games separately. All Access members can upgrade to the upcoming Xbox Series X console starting late 2020, though there’s no word yet on how much the upgrade will cost.

If you want 4K gaming, Sony’s PS4 Pro costs $399 , while the Xbox One X runs a hefty $499 . That’s a pretty big price gap, though Microsoft’s console offers a richer 4K gaming experience. .

Winner: Xbox One. The $249 ;Xbox One S is the cheapest console out there and doubles as a 4K Blu-ray player.

Xbox One Vs Ps: Hardware And Design

  • The PS4 has a slim version and a 4K PS4 Pro
  • The Xbox has the Xbox One S, Xbox One S All-Digital Edition and Xbox One X

Both the Xbox One and the PS4 have different versions that you can buy right now. The PS4 has two and the Xbox One has three. This is different than in the past, when each console existed on its own, and lasted an entire generation.;

The Xbox One S improved on the design of the original Xbox One by cutting down a lot of the heft, and removing the gigantic power brick, making use of an internal power supply instead. It measures 11.6 x 8.9 x 2.5 inches, and unlike the previous version includes a 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray player it will even upscale 1080p games to 4K, as long as you have a TV that can support it.

However, if you prefer a more streamlined version of the Xbox One S then the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition may be more your cup of tea. The 1TB disc-less console looks and performs like its predecessor but lacks a disc drive so that means no Blu-ray or physical discs.

The Xbox One X might be heftier than the Xbox One S, but its still considerably smaller than the original Xbox One, coming in at 11.81 x 9.44 x 2.36 inches and weighing around 8.4 lbs . This is the high-powered version of the Xbox One, with native 4K gaming as well as a 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray player .

Playstation Portable ~ 819 Million Units Sold

Released in Japan in 2004, and the rest of the world in 2005, PSP was Sonys first foray into handheld consoles. The PSP had it all, you could play video games or even watch movies on your handheld console. One of the first times I watched the movie Superbad was on the PSP, not to mention the incredible games that the PSP offered.;

Tekken, God of War, Monster Hunter, and GTA all were incredible titles that left lasting impressions on us. Although the PSPs successors werent as popular, I think Sony could take solace in the fact that the PSP sold approximately 81.9 million units.

The official Sony website states that the PSP sold 76 million units as of 2012, but it would continue to be sold for a few more years. The exact number of units sold isnt known, only rough estimations.;
