The Next Generation Of Microsoft Console Is The Xbox Series X
Having already claimed the mantel of the most powerful home gaming console ever with the Xbox One X, Microsoft are now aiming to retain that title with their next generation console, the Xbox Series X. It is scheduled to arrive worldwide in November 2020, offering everyone the chance to experience the latest games at 4K quality at a smooth 60 frames per second. Graphics, load times, frame rate and more are much improved for the next generation of console gaming.
Helping it stand apart aesthetically from all prior Xbox consoles is its vertical height, which sees it resemble more of a PC than a traditional home console setup. The Xbox Series X is actually three times as tall as an official Xbox One Controller, but Microsoft has since confirmed that it can also be titled to the side your current home media centre is safe. The Xbox Series X will welcome in another decade of great games, seeing the return of tentpole franchises like Halo and Gears in addition to all-new ones we know are already in the works.

The Best Tvs For Gaming On Xbox Series X
To get the most out of the Xbox series X, youll need a 4K television.
Many next-generation games allow you to choose between a performance mode and a graphics mode. The former downgrades the visuals slightly for smoother framerates, while the latter mode enables higher resolutions and more fancy effects at the expense of framerate.
If your TV only goes up to 1080p, you wont be getting the most out of your new Xbox series X. To help you upgrade your set without breaking the bank, weve pulled together a list of the best 4K TV deals for entertainment, movies and gaming.
Xbox Bundle Deals In Australia
Will Xbox Series X bundles appear over the next few months? There was already a Halo Infinite bundle, but that’s long sold out. Whether more stock will arrive ahead of the game’s December release is unknown, but if it does return we’ll let you know with an update at the top of this page. The Xbox Series X Halo Infinite bundle was AU$849, so pretty much the console, with an added AU$100 for the game.
So yeah: You shouldn’t expect big discounts when it comes to bundles, as stock is still rare. We don’t normally see price-drops in the early days of a console’s life-cycle, so Xbox Series X deals are probably going to be a similar price to buying the console and games separately. If anything, it’s more likely that retailers will slash prices on extras like Xbox Live Gold deals or a few free months of Xbox Game Pass.
With more first-party Microsoft games on the horizon, such as Senuas Saga: Hellblade 2, we may see more bundles. No word as yet on whether Forza Horizon 5 will get its own bundle, but we’ll keep an eye out.

Where To Get The Xbox Series X Console
The Xbox Series X, which boasts 4K gaming and Dolby Atmos, is almost as hard to find as the PlayStation 5. On sites where third-party sellers are offering Xbox Series X stock, the console is selling at more than $300 above the retail price.
If you’re unwilling to wait or pay a premium price, you can always get the Xbox Series S, which is readily available. It doesn’t have the Series X’s 4K UHD Blu-ray drive and native 4K resolution output. It also comes with only 512GB SSD. However, if those aren’t vital to you, you can buy this console now.
Otherwise, you’ll still be able to get an Xbox Series X console — eventually. Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon and GameStop often replenish their stock so you’ll still have a chance of getting one with a bit more patience. You can regularly check in and tap these “check stock now” buttons below. If you’re lucky, you might be playing Xbox Series X games such as “Elden Ring,” “Grand Theft Auto V” and “Halo Infinite” sooner than you think.
Xbox Series X Price Bundles And Deals In Australia
Keen to get your hands on an Xbox Series X in Australia? Well, prepare for a fight: in 2022, Xbox Series X stock is likely to be as patchy as it was last year. It’s not Microsoft’s fault: the worldwide component shortage crisis is affecting everything, including the PS5, Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch OLED – and those are just gaming products.
Microsoft is “working as hard as it can” to produce more Xbox Series X/S consoles, both systems sell out within moments of going live. In fact, many websites collapse under the weight of traffic. Considering the unexpectedly reasonable Xbox Series X price of AU$749, that shouldn’t be a surprise.
A positive reception overall has built up hype even more. Meanwhile, Phil Spencer said in late September that console shortages will continue into 2022. From where we’re sitting in December 2021, we’re hopeful that stock will drop again before Christmas, but it’s not guaranteed.
But this scarcity doesn’t mean you should give up hope. Stock does appear every now and then if you know where to look, and we’re here to help with that. Want a chance to buy Xbox Series X? Bookmark this page for regular updates.
A few small tips: history shows that the store most likely to get new Xbox Series X stock is the Microsoft Store. A no brainer? Not really: the PS5 is available on Amazon Australia more often than it is through Sony direct. If you want to secure an Xbox Series X, pay especially close attention to the Microsoft Store.

Currys Xbox Series X Stock
You’ll have to act fast, but both the Xbox Series X and Series S are available from Currys, with options to buy outright or split the costs over several months should you need to. Our favourite bundle is the Series X console, a three-month sign-up to Game Pass and then a 1TB external hard drive from Seagate all for £669. This hard drive will be vital if you want to grow your library of games to play in the enhanced 4K graphics format and will save you from having to buy one separately.
How Much Is The Xbox Series X
The Xbox series X costs £449. Theres also the Xbox All Access programme, where you pay nothing up front and get an Xbox series X console and 24 months of Game Pass Ultimate for £28.99 per month. At the end of the 24 month term, you keep the console.
The all-digital Xbox series S console costs £249 and is more often in stock than the more powerful Xbox series X. The Xbox series S is also available through the Xbox All Access programme for £20.99 per month.

No Xbox Series X Try Xbox Game Pass
If you want to play next-gen games without a next-gen console, however, there is one alternative: Xbox Game Pass. Weve discussed Xbox Game Pass before in great detail: pay a monthly subscription fee, access a few hundred games for download or streaming, carry your saves over between platforms, etc. One thing thats worth remembering about Xbox Game Pass, however, is that it works on non-gaming PCs.
I went hands-on with Xbox Cloud Gaming on PC when the service launched in May. It worked well then, and its only gotten better since. If you pay $15 per month for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you can stream some of the best Xbox Series X games via Web browser, and all you need to provide is a strong Internet connection and a controller. You can also play via Android or iOS, although the iOS functionality isn’t as strong.
Some of these titles are heavy hitters, including Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, Hades, MLB The Show 21, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Psychonauts 2, Sea of Thieves and more. From Xbox exclusives, to indie fare, to backwards-compatible Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, there are quite a few titles available, and they all run pretty well.
If you want to play the best PS5 games, on the other hand, youre pretty much out of luck. At least until Sony launches its own Xbox Game Pass alternative with its rumored Project Spartacus, which would combine PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now.

A Redesigned Xbox Controller
A new home console means a new gamepad to go along with it, and the Xbox Series X controller does an excellent job at blending the old and new. Its essentially the same design as the official Xbox One wireless controller, only this time theres a dedicated share button added in the centre, a hybrid D-pad that allows for more flexible play and the overall size has been slightly reduced Microsoft states it will now fit 98% of hands.
The Next Xbox Series X Restock: What You Need To Know To Finally Score A Xbox Series X

CBS Essentials is created independently from the CBS News staff. We may receive commissions from some links to products on this page. Promotions are subject to availability and retailer terms.
Is the Xbox Series X console any easier to find on store shelves now that the holidays are long behind us? The short answer is no — demand is still high, and ongoing supply chain issues are causing supplies to be limited.
The good news, though, is that we have seen some restocks in March — and there will likely be more chances for you to land an Xbox Series X by the end of the month if you know where to look.
Quick links for checking current Xbox Series X availability:
Already, Microsoft had a restock on March 2, sending out email invitations for Xbox Series X bundles. Walmart, and Best Buy, meanwhile, have had restocks in December, January and February, which means they are likely to have another one in March.
One thing to keep in mind about Xbox Series X restocks: While Walmart often gives advance notice of console availability, other retailers restock without notice, and sometimes without fanfare. We’ve seen some lucky console shoppers land an Xbox Series X at the $499 MSRP at Amazon at random dates throughout the month. We’ve seen a few small restocks at Target, too, so it’s worth trying all the links below to check current availability — you might just get lucky yourself.

Xbox Series X Restock At Amazon
As the biggest retailer on the internet, Amazon is a natural place that many people turn to in the hopes of getting hold of an Xbox Series X. We’ll assume that you have an account with your payment and shipping details saved if not, get that sorted out as priority number one. Also, check that you’re buying from Amazon and not a third-party reseller who may have jacked up the price.
Earlier this year we tested an that can make scoring a next-gen console during a restock much easier. It involves adding the Xbox Series X console to your wishlist when out of stock, then during a restock, adding the console to your cart from your wishlist rather than the product listing page. This often lets you bypass the mad scramble for stock and avoid glitches and server issues.
Also, dont be put off by Amazon claiming the console is out of stock minutes into a restock. Its may seem to be a mad dash to get a console when a restock happens, but its often a marathon not a sprint. Weve observed stock slowly filtering through over the course of 30-40 minutes, so keep trying to add it to your cart and dont immediately give up hope. Persistence is key.
Xbox Series X At Gamestop
GameStop is one of the easiest places to score an Xbox Series X from, and thats because the gaming specialty retailer has a habit of putting its allocation of the console in pre-made bundles.
This practice results in resellers largely avoiding buying the console at GameStop, as they dont want to be stuck with the extras. So, if you dont mind paying a little bit extra and receiving an Xbox Series X with some additional items like a second controller or some digital credits, then GameStop might be your best bet.
Another reason that GameStop drops tend to last longer is that they are exclusively reserved for PowerUp Reward Pro members. The good news is that Pro membership only costs $15 annually, which is significantly cheaper than Walmart Plus or Best Buy Totaltech. Wed say its a worthwhile investment, as membership gives you twelve whole months of chances to purchase a console during a restock.

Where To Find The Xbox Series X In Stock Now
Heres how you can find the Xbox Series X in stock.
The Xbox Series X is sold directly at a number of different retailers and you can buy it on resale sites like eBay if youre willing to pay a premium.
Heres a rundown of where you can check for Xbox Series X stock manually. Manually checking is smart because it will give you an edge on those who arent keeping regular tabs on the consoles availability.
Keep in mind, most of these retailers let you sign up for an in-stock alert. We recommend using this if the option is available.
What’s The Difference Between Series X And Series S
Should you pick up an Xbox Series X or a Series S? And just what is the difference, anyway? As we explained in our Xbox Series X vs Xbox Series S feature, it’s a lot simpler than it seems. In a nutshell, both run the same next-gen games… but the Series S can’t display them in super-sharp 4K resolution. What’s more, it doesn’t have a disc drive.
Why? It’s all about accessibility. In short, the Xbox Series S is designed as an entry-level console or for those on a budget – it makes next-gen accessible for as many people as possible. That’s why Microsoft has thrown some features overboard. The tech dedicated to making 4K possible isn’t needed, so ditching that extra power lowers the overall cost. Similarly, removing a disc drive is likely to shunt the cost down even further.
All the same, we wouldn’t say the Series S is the ‘better’ choice. Although the Series X is more expensive, it’s arguably the full next-gen experience. If you have a 4K TV, games will look better with the Series X. There are no two ways about it. We have a suspicion they may load faster and run ever so slightly better, too.
It’s gonna usher in resolution and framerates we’ve never seen before.
E3 2019 reveal
Wondering what all that means? For starters, it’ll result in a smoother and more detailed experience than you’ve ever seen on a console before. Additionally, your games will have shockingly fast loading times. We’re talking seconds instead of minutes, here. That’s a huge deal.
