Where Can I Buy An Xbox One S

Don't Miss

The Lesser Of The Two

How to Buy Xbox One Games in 2020 | Xbox One S | Xbox One X | Purchase Games Online

To its credit, Microsoft has always been extremely upfront when it comes to the Xbox Series S. The tech giant has never claimed the console is capable of the same performance levels as the more expensive Xbox Series X.

The table below lays out the full technical breakdown, but the biggest discrepancy between the two machines is easily the GPU. The Xbox Series S sports an AMD RDNA 2, 4 teraflops, 1.6 GHz, which is much less powerful than the beefy AMD RDNA 2, 12 teraflops, 1.8 GHz found with the Xbox Series X.

The two consoles also differ when it comes to RAM and storage capacity. Of course, the hard drive size doesnt impact performance, but it does mean the Xbox Series S can only hold a small handful of the best Xbox games before youll need to look at alternative storage options.

Weve tested both consoles extensively found that the Xbox Series X trumps the Xbox Series S in terms of performance in basically all areas. Of course, this is hardly surprising, but the worrying thing is the performance gulf between the two consoles seems to be growing.

Better Graphics On Old Games Great Graphics On New Games

The Xbox Series X and Series S feature a new generation of graphics hardware that is more capable than the components of previous consoles in a variety of ways. In most titles, you can expect higher resolutions, higher frame rates, and more detailed characters and environments compared to the same games on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, all with better image quality. Effects should also be more pronounced and sophisticated, as the new graphics hardware in these consoles can pull off greater amounts of fancy tricks like smoke and fog that has physical properties, and lighting that creates shadows and reflections more like it does in the real world.

Xbox One Vs Xbox One S: Price & Availability

This part talking about Xbox One S vs Xbox One from the aspect of price and availability. Microsoft has stopped using the original Xbox One. This means that if you want to buy, you have to buy from a supplier like GameStop, a third-party seller on Amazon, or a resale site like eBay or Craigslist. You can find the official refurbished Special Edition for about $200.

Xbox One S can be provided through multiple different bundles of Microsoft and other means. In the official Microsoft store, you can find $300 bundles with a 1TB Xbox One S and selected games. You can also find a 500GB Xbox One S without the bundled game for $250.

How Long Will The Xbox One Last

Since the Xbox One is an aging console, eventually it won’t receive new games anymore. But how long should you expect the Xbox One to receive support?

To get an idea, consider the last generation. The Xbox 360 launched in 2005 and was discontinued in 2016. After the Xbox One launched in 2013, the Xbox 360 continued to receive some cross-generation games.

2014’s Forza Horizon 2 was the last Xbox 360 entry in the Xbox-exclusive series, while 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider came to both Xbox 360 and Xbox One. For yearly third-party titles, 2016’s Madden NFL 17 was the last Madden released on Xbox 360.

However, since the Xbox One S and One X both launched mid-generation in 2016, these past patterns may not predict what happens this time.

Microsoft Edge Xbox One not working? Here

If you have an Xbox Live account on an Xbox One that has been connected to the internet, your game saves already live online in the cloud, and they will be available while youre signed in on your Xbox Series X or Series S. You can also transfer games and saves from an Xbox One console to an Xbox Series X or Series S over your network or via a USB hard drive. And if you have an Xbox 360 but dont have an Xbox One, good news: Microsoft is making cloud saves for Xbox 360 owners free, separate from your Xbox Live subscription.

For backward-compatible games on the Series X and Series S, your saves from a previous-generation Xbox should work. That should also apply to games that support Smart Delivery. The new console comes in at $299 for the cheaper Series S, and $499 for the fully-fledged Xbox Series X console. Almost all backward-compatible titles will have a variety of graphical enhancements.

Xbox One Provides Access To Game Pass

All the different Xbox One S bundles you can buy

These days, Xbox Game Pass is the biggest draw of an Xbox console. If you’re not familiar, Game Pass is a monthly subscription that provides unlimited access to over 100 games.

You can download and play them on your Xbox for as long as you stay subscribed, and it’s full of high-quality games. Plus, all titles published by Xbox Game Studios come to Game Pass on their day of release.

Game Pass is $10/month for console only. There’s also Game Pass Ultimate, which is $15/month and includes access to Game Pass on PC, as well as Xbox Live Gold and other perks. For more info, see our full guide to Xbox Game Pass.

Both the Xbox One line and Xbox Series X/S provide full access to the Game Pass catalog, at least at the time of writing. The Xbox Series S|X will run the games better and faster, however, thanks to those consoles packing SSDs and more powerful internals.

That means if you want to check out lots of the titles on Game Pass, an Xbox One is a decent way to do so. However, many of the same games are on Game Pass for PC, so if you have access to a decent gaming computer, an Xbox One is largely redundant.

7. PC hardware requirements may vary for games on Windows 10/11.

Faster Performance Higher Frame Rates

The Xbox Series X and Series S have dramatically more powerful CPUs than previous-generation consoles didin the neighborhood of four times as powerful as their predecessor in raw speed and the number of cores and threads, to say nothing of seven years worth of efficiency and other improvements. This means faster user interfaces and much faster load times,1 as well as more sophisticated character and game behaviors, and just more stuff on screen at any given moment.

But the biggest improvements are most apparent in frame rates, which should hit 60 frames per second much more often this generation than last. The more frames per second, the more often the controller and the game are communicating. So a new Series X or Series S should feel like it responds faster and more reliably to your inputs. And when games cant maintain consistent frame rates, support for variable refresh rates should help keep those games from feeling unresponsive. Recent examples here include Diablo 2: Resurrected and Psychonauts 2, both of which offer 60 FPS modes on Series X and S unavailable on the Xbox One. The upcoming Battlefield 2042, is supposed to run at 60 FPS, but never manages it on Xbox One or even the PlayStation 4. On the Series X and S, performance in the recent beta was consistently smooth.

How To Buy An Xbox Series X At Best Buy

As with most retailers, setting up a Best Buy account ahead of time should be your first priority. You want to make sure that your payment details and address information is pre-saved, in order to shave precious time off your checkout that could be the difference between securing an Xbox Series X and being left empty-handed.

Its also important to note that Best Buy is not currently delivering Xbox consoles though the order process takes place online, you must opt for in-store pick-up. So, if you dont have a local Best Buy, or dont have the ability to get to your local store, then Best Buy may not be the Xbox retailer for you.

When a restock is taking place, refresh the product page until you see the yellow “add to cart” button or a grey “please wait” button. If you see the latter, do not refresh, but instead wait for the button to change to the yellow “add to cart” one.

Once youre able to add to cart, you might see a message telling you the Xbox Series X is no longer in stock. Should that happen, you need to change your location to one that has the system in stock. You could also open a new page and repeat the process outlined above until the “add to cart” button appears again, then go back to the original page you had open and try again to choose a location.

Is Xbox One S Good For Movies And Tv

Although the original Xbox One was pitched as a cohesive media device, the Xbox One S delivers major improvements for movies and TV. With the addition of HDMI 2.0 support, the console can output native 4K 60Hz video, paired with HDR. This delivers the best possible image across select media when paired with a top-end display.

The Xbox One S also packs a 4K HDR Blu-ray player, which is currently absent from all PlayStation 4 consoles in 2019. Standalone 4K Blu-ray players are priced similarly to the Xbox One S, making it viable for media consumption only.

A growing collection of services also offer 4K playback on Xbox One S, including Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, and more. Alternatively, users can access digital UHD content served via the Microsoft Store, despite the weak library.
