Doesn’t The Cute White Xbox One S Already Do 4k

Yes and no. The Xbox One S can technically display 4K images to your TV, but that isn’t the same thing as rendering games at 4K.

Or, put more simply, you can watch 4K Blu-rays with an Xbox One S, but games won’t look much better.

Still, the One S does now support high dynamic range with a handful of games, which should mean better color saturation and contrast in those titles as long as you’ve got an HDR-compatible TV.

Xbox One Review: Kinect

There’s a good chance if you’re reading this review anytime after the initial first few months of launch that you don’t have access to a Kinect sensor, but we’ll round up its functions and usability because we’re thorough like that. The Kinect sensor has been re-vamped since its first introduction on Xbox 360. It can now monitor heart-rate and muscle density meaning the virtual drill-instructors on the Fitness App will be doing players more good than ever.

Kinect also comes into its own on the video calling in Skype. Not only does the sensor produce a streaming video of the player at a pretty reasonable quality, but if they get up and wander about the room, the camera will track them.

The sensor’s fidelity and spatial requirements have been vastly improved players no longer need to stand so far back from their TV set although players may find themselves having to repeat the odd voice command.

Kinect can also track more players up to four players can jump into a Kinect game now, and the sensor’s facial recognition technology can differentiate between them.

Finally, it’s worth pointing out that Kinect is better able to filter out intruding lights and sounds.

Unlike the previous iteration, the new Kinect module can work in almost pitch dark and isn’t interrupted by lights angled towards it. It’s also able to differentiate between the players voice and sounds coming out of the TV’s speakers.

Xbox One Release Date And Price

The Xbox one has a confirmed release date of November 2013, just in time for Christmas. But if youve already saved up, it is still available for pre-order now, though Amazon has already sold out its pre-order quote of “Day One” Xbox One consoles at the time of writing.

If you were to pre-order the console right now , you will not be allocated a “Day One” version of the console. Instead you’ll be given the Standard edition of the console which is not guaranteed to reach you by the console’s launch.

So far there are two “Day One” editions of the console , with Microsoft teaming up with EA to announce that anyone who pre-orders will receive a digital copy of Fifa 14 at no extra cost. Xbox users will also receive exclusive legendary player packs in the massively popular Fifa 14 Ultimate Team online game.

The caveat? The offer is only available while stocks last.

The basic Xbox One package starts at £429, £85 more than the PS4. This may seem expensive compared to the Xbox 360, which you can now buy a 4GB version for an almost ridiculous £99 along with some fantastically cheap games. That said, this price is the same as the Xbox 360 cost when it was released eight years ago…

Xbox One or PS4? It’s probably too early to call, though on price the PS4 has drawn first blood. We’re sure there will be many more twists and turns before we see the two consoles in the wild later this year…

Ubisoft’s Star Wars Game

The Xbox One Comes Out on November 22

Platform: TBCRelease date: TBC

Lucasfilm Games has announced that is working with Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment on an open-world Star Wars game. Now, apart from that, details are quite scarce – beyond that it’ll run on Massive’s own Snowdrop engine. We imagine it’ll take plenty of DNA from Massive’s The Division titles, so expect a game focused on photorealism with an action-adventure focus and added RPG elements when it does arrive. It’s clearly in very stages of development though, so don’t hold your breath for more info on this one any time soon.

Are There Any New Features For Among Us For Xbox

No matter where you play Among Us, the game is pretty consistent in its experience. However, things may have to change a tad for Xbox out of necessity. Players on Xbox will likely enjoy Among Us on a larger TV screen with a controller in their hand.

Among Us on the Nintendo Switch shows that some controls become easier with analog sticks and triggers, but other mini-games suffer and communication with Crewmates becomes more difficult. Hopefully, InnerSloth will be able to improve this experience when they make the jump to Xbox. At the very least, here’s hoping Among Us for Xbox uses the excellent built-in on-screen keyboard instead of a proprietary keyboard inside of Among Us.

Xbox Party integration would also be great with Among Us for Xbox. Hopefully, players will be able to invite their friends to rooms instead of figuring out how to share the unique room codes, and Xbox’s Party Chat will provide a suitable way for players to discuss over meetings instead of using text messages.

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to say for certain how the Among Us for Xbox experience will be at this time. The only thing we can say with a reasonable amount of confidence is that Among Us will likely include Achievements for the first time, which can give even more players reason to jump in and play. Among Us doesn’t feature achievements, trophies, or whatever else you want to call them on any other platform, but games are strongly encouraged to include them on Xbox.

Integrating Kinect With Microsoft Azure

Microsoft had abandoned the idea of Kinect for video games, but still explored the potential of Kinect beyond that. Microsoft’s Director of Communications Greg Sullivan stated in 2018 that “I think one of the things that is beginning to be understood is that Kinect was never really just the gaming peripheral…It was always more.” Part of Kinect technology was integrated into Microsoft’s Hololens, first released in 2016.

Microsoft announced that it was working on a new version of a hardware Kinect model for non-game applications that would integrate with their Azure cloud computing services in May 2018. The use of cloud computing to offload some of the computational work from Kinect, as well as more powerful features enable by Azure such as artificial intelligence would improve the accuracy of the depth-sensing and reduce the power demand and would lead to more compact units, Microsoft had envisioned. The Azure Kinect device was released on June 27, 2019 at a price of US$400, while the SDK for the unit had been released in February 2019.

Will Deathloop Come To Ps4 Xbox One Or Nintendo Switch

Deathloop is launching on PS5, and an Xbox Series X/S release will surely follow in a years time, but what about the previous generation of consoles? Will the game ever come to PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch? What about the Nintendo Switch OLED? For now, no such plans have been announced, with Bethesda reiterating time and again that Deathloop is seen as a next-gen title.

Deathloops game director Dinga Bakaba even told PLAY Magazine , I dont think that we would have been able to preserve the level of ambition of this game were it not for the move to next-gen. So we wouldnt count on a previous-generation release happening any time soon.

Is It Safe To Buy An Xbox From An Unofficial Source

There are some places you can safely buy an Xbox secondhand. If you’re shopping at eBay or StockX, there are protections in place to keep you from spending money and getting nothing.

  • Stay away from Twitter links: If you see something on Twitter about an Xbox Series X restock happening somewhere, your best bet is to go straight to the retailer instead of clicking a link. In many cases, those Twitter links have turned out to be scams.
  • Only buy at the retail price: If someone is offering you an Xbox Series X for more or less than $500 or an Xbox Series S for more or less than $300, you should probably stay away. There are many of these sites offering “deals” or “bundles” that are frequently not actually worth it.

The Xbox Family: What It Means For The Future

The next generation of Xbox devices, currently codenamed Project Scarlett, is being referred to as a “family of devices.” Not only is Microsoft planning a true next-gen powerhouse console, but rumors also suggest they will offer a more affordable console that relies on cloud streaming to play the same games.

Yet another report from Thurrott revealed that existence of two consoles in this family. The second console utilizes the Scarlett Cloud to make up for a lack of hardware in the box.

The less powerful streaming console will still require hardware for controller input, image processing, and collision detection, so it’s not going to be cheap, but it will cost less than he major hardware option. Microsoft apparently has some solutions regarding latency and lag in place as well, thanks to their Azure cloud and its prevalence around the world.

Whether you opt for the next-gen console or the cloud-based streaming device, Microsoft is planning on offering the same games for both, much in the way that Xbox One X and the S play the same games in this generation.

It’s a bold move, but it’s grounded in business sense. Microsoft doesn’t make a lot of money on their hardware, but they do make a lot of profits from Xbox Live, Game Pass, and their game sales. Project Scarlett and this second cloud-based console option could give them a boost to their profits while also offering options for both mainstream and hardcore gamers.

New Games New Hardware

Xbox One major update 5 things you must do before you ...

New hardware needs new games to make the most of it, and Microsoft and its partners have announced a host of games that are coming to its new console. The biggest of these is Halo: Infinite, the latest entry in the long-running sci-fi first-person shooter franchise thats become synonymous with the Xbox brand since its debut way back in 2001.

Unfortunately, Microsoft recently delayed Halo: Infinite, meaning it will now release in 2021, rather than arriving alongside the new console. News of the delay, which Microsoft attributed in part to the pandemic, came after the games visuals were met with criticism after their initial unveiling, prompting developer 343 Industries to admit, We do have work to do to address some of these areas and raise the level of fidelity and overall presentation for the final game.

With other Xbox staples like Fable and Forza Motorsport without release dates, the delay has left third-party publishers to fill in the rest of the launch lineup, including Assassins Creed Valhalla, Dirt 5, Watch Dogs Legion, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Heres a guide to the best launch day games, and heres what the months ahead are looking like in terms of new releases.

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a high-profile launch title for the new consoles.

Xbox Series X And Series S Controller

The fourth generation Xbox Controller doesn’t change much from the Xbox One controller, but the new wireless Xbox Controller does add a capture and share button, a hybrid d-pad, and better gripping on the bumpers and triggers. The controller is also promised to be cross compatible with certain PC’s and mobile devices.

Why Is The Xbox Tough To Find

Essentially, Microsoft hasn’t been able to get the materials it needs to make enough Xbox consoles to meet demand. As with the PlayStation 5 and most PC video cards, there’s a chip shortage right now that is slowing supply. The pandemic affected production for a lot of chip manufacturers, and industry watchers currently don’t expect the issue to be entirely resolved until the end of the year.

As a result, Microsoft makes as many consoles as it can and distributes them among its retail partners. Each retailer releases its available consoles in whatever way it deems appropriate. Most of the time, this means announcing ahead of time when you’ll be able to buy the console online and then releasing it for anyone to buy.

Check out this full breakdown on the chip shortage by CNET’s Stephen Shankland for more details.

How The Xbox Family Will Play Into Console Generations And Lead To Xbox 2

The concept of the Xbox One Family is unique, and it does offer Microsoft the ability to extend and iterate on a generation, but it’s not future-proof. Eventually, that family will need to graduate to a new generation. Xbox One X offers Microsoft the chance to keep this generation for a few more years, but the Xbox Two will mark the beginning of a new family.

When we think of console generations, we usually think of them as single consoles. The original Xbox, the Xbox 360, and the Xbox One. The problem with that structure, is that technology is moving too fast for one console to meet the needs of an entire generation.

Instead, an iterative approach makes more sense here. One generation, spread across multiple consoles that get incrementally more powerful as you move up the chain. This way, Microsoft can stay competitive in terms of power, but also keep multiple hardware releases within that same family.

The next generation will be another branch in the family tree if you will. It could be called Xbox Two, but we currently know it as Project Scarlett. The current rumors point to this being two different devices: one for streaming your games, and one for hardcore gamers who want all of the best hardware under the hood.

Despite this, people were worried about the fate of an Xbox 2. During a podcast with IGN, Microsoft’s Albert Penello offered us a small quote that tells us the Xbox 2 is happening:
