There’s a good reason Microsoft’s new consoles are flying off shelves. In our Xbox Series X review, we gave the new system major props for its blistering performance, zippy load times and comprehensive backwards compatibility with every generation of Xbox. And as we noted in our Xbox Series S review, the cheaper next-gen Xbox still delivers many of the same great features for those with 1080p TVs.

Pre-orders were available as of 22nd September at 8am in the UK for both the top-dog Xbox Series X and the digital-only Xbox Series S. We will continue to keep this page updated with the latest retailers and their stock levels, although youll have to be fast stock disappears as quickly as it appears.
Xbox Series X review: The next-generation of gaming arrives with a console that more than lives up to the hype. A sleek design and a super quiet machine, the Xbox Series X really shows what next-gen games can look like and does so in style. Long loading times already seem like a thing of the past and quick resume is a brilliant addition, while the small changes to the controller make all the difference. Add to that Gamespass that now includes the wealth of titles that come with EA Play and it is clear that Microsoft are onto a winner.
Xbox Series X Price: Streaming Apps
Microsoft has confirmed which streaming apps are available on the Xbox Series X. The big news? The Apple TV app is available from day one. That puts the console on a par with Sony’s PS5.
Microsoft also confirmed that the consoles will run all streaming apps currently available for the Xbox One consoles, with a few exceptions. The BBC iPlayer app didn’t work on Xbox Series X/S at launch but Microsoft has now rectified that.

Xbox Series S Price: Cheaper Digital Edition
Rumours circled for months that Microsoft was working on a cheaper Xbox to launch alongside the Series X. Sure enough, the Xbox Series S is a digital-only version of its next-gen console in order to lower the barrier to entry.
It costs £249.99 . That’s just over half the price of the full-fat Xbox Series X and could be a very tempting price for UK gamers.
Gamers in 12 countries, including the US, UK and Australia, also have the option to pre-order the Series S and pay in instalments. Microsoft’s Xbox All Access service gets you Series S console plus Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold in return for £20.99 per month over a 24 month period.
The main difference between the Xbox Series X and Series S is that the latter doesn’t have a disc drive. Another big difference is that while both consoles support high frame rates of up to 120fps, the Xbox Series X offers native 4K gaming, while the Series S is geared more towards 1440p. If you want to make the most of your 4K TV, the Series X would be the obvious choice, but those with gaming monitors might be perfectly well served by the Series S.
The Series S isn’t as powerful, though. Both consoles have the same Zen 2-based CPU but the Xbox Series X runs at 3.8Hz, while the Series S runs at 3.4Hz. And where the Xbox Series S has 10GB of GDDR6 memory running at 224Gbps, the Series X offers 16GB of GDDR6.

Walmart had the Xbox Series X in stock yesterday, but just like the one earlier this week, it was exclusive to Walmart+ subscribers. We could see a restock from other major retailers, but none have confirmed stock specifically for today. Walmart’s latest restock follows restocks at Amazon and GameStop earlier this week. Best Buy teased the Series X in its Black Friday ad, but we’ve yet to see the retailer restock the hard-to-find console this weekend. We’ve yet to see any retailer confirm a restock for Cyber Monday.
It will be a challenge to get an Xbox Series X or Series S to put under the tree this year. However, we are here to give you the best chance you can possibly have, whether it’s for you or a loved one. Ever since launching roughly a year ago, both the Series X and Series S have been quite difficult to find. Retailers don’t have them readily available on shelves and online restocks tend to sell out in minutes. It probably won’t get much easier to buy a Series X or Series S in the coming months due to increased demand during the holiday season. That said, it’s not uncommon to see multiple Xbox Series X and Series S restocks each week at retailers like Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, and the Microsoft Store.
Xbox Series X And Series S Price
The Xbox Series X will retail for $499 , whereas the Xbox Series S will be available at a much cheaper price tag, at just $299 . Buyers can also purchase the Xbox Series X or Series S using Microsoft’s Xbox All Access programme. As part of the programme, the Xbox Series X will be available at a low monthly price starting at $34.99 a month for 24 months. The Xbox Series S will go for a starting price of $24.99 a month for 24 months. Interestingly, it does not involve any upfront costs.

It’s all gone very quiet on the Xbox Series X restock front. The console has once again become the harder of the two in-demand next-gen machines to buy. Meanwhile, Target announced a huge change to how it handles Xbox Series X restocks. No longer will it be waiting to drop stock in batches as it does with PS5 restock, instead Xbox Series X consoles will be available to buy when stores receive stock.
This essentially means that Target will no longer have nationwide stock drops, and instead, the console will just be available when each individual location receives inventory. We saw this new system come into effect last month when several Target stores offered the Xbox Series X for sale.

Xbox Series X Mini Fridge Pre
It’s finally here, Xbox fans Microsoft is accepting pre-orders on the replica Xbox Series X mini fridge from next week.
The mini fridge which reportedly holds up to 10 cans of your favorite beverage and has two shelves in the door for snacks includes a USB port to charge devices, and also ships with a DC power adapter to enable the mini fridge to work on the go. Pre-orders go live on October 19 and are expected to be ship from December 2021.
It’s been a full year since Microsoft put out feelers to see what we thought about an Xbox Series X mini-fridge, and just a couple of months back ran a sweepstake for fans to win one.
“What started as a viral meme became a life-size reality when we created the worlds first-ever, fastest, and most powerful Xbox Series X Fridge, a 6-foot, 400 pound, 1:1 scale replica of our beloved console,” Microsoft said in an update on Xbox Wire. “But we didnt stop there.
“After an all-out Twitter war and battle of the brands, Xbox came out on top with your votes, so we vowed to make your mini fridge memes a reality. We surprised fans with a first-look at the design at the end of our Xbox E3 Showcase, and now the time has come to give our fans what theyve been waiting for just in time for the holidays. Introducing Xbox Series X Replica Mini Fridge.”

What Do We Think
With both the PS5 and Xbox Series X likely to release in November guess by the way) it is, of course, only a matter of time before the Sony/Microsoft confirm this, reveal the prices, and start accepting pre-orders. If very soon is to be taken literally, however, it seems that people erring towards the next-gen Microsoft console may find this information out sooner than Sony fans, and potentially in the very near future! Like maybe the next couple of weeks.
What do you think? Which console are you currently planning on getting? Let us know in the comments!

I think its probably too isolated to talk about it as just a chip problem, Spencer said. When I think about, what does it mean to get the parts necessary to build a console today, and then get it to the markets where the demand is, there are multiple kind of pinch points in that process.
And I think regretfully its going to be with us for months and months, definitely through the end of this calendar year and into the next calendar year.
The boss of AMD, which makes the CPUs and GPUs inside Xbox Series X/S and PS5, said this month that she expects chip supply issues to ease gradually in the second half of 2022.
Alarms Set For September 22
Did you try securing a PlayStation 5 pre-order yesterday? It was and this is putting it mildly and really underselling the whole situation a clusterfuck. Retailers set their pre-order pages live at varying times after the PS5 showcase wrapped up, and people were left scurrying from digital store to digital store all night in hopes that theyd get there within a three-minute window before stock was inevitably gone. Folks diligently watched Twitter like hawks all night long only to be left with no next-gen hopes on the immediate horizon and with $500 burning a hole in their pockets.
Microsoft is doing its darnedest to not replicate that debacle. Itll still be a clusterfuck, no one doubts that, but maybe itll be a more organized clusterfuck.
Thats why Microsoft has given us exact pre-order timing information for its next-gen systems. Both the Xbox Series X and S will go up for pre-order on Tuesday, September 22 at 11am Eastern / 8am Pacific. Thats when all retailers will set their pre-order pages live at the exact same time. Some confirmed retailers are: Amazon, Army and Airforce Exchange Service, Best Buy, Costco, GameStop, Newegg, Sams Club, Target, and Walmart.
