Update May 7 2022 At : 50 Am Ct The Xbox Network Is Back And A Fix Has Been Found
All users should once again be able to launch games and start Cloud Gaming sessions. Thank you for your patience and happy gaming!
Xbox Support May 7, 2022
On May 7, 2022, at 2:11 a.m. CT, over eleven hours after the outage was initially reported, the Xbox team finally declared that the Xbox Network is running like normal. For many, this was the end of the issue, but some users are continuing to report issues with launching and playing their digital games. Fortunatley, there appears to be a manual fix that resolves any lingering problems. If you’re still having problems with the Xbox Network, even after the outage was mitigated, following the below steps:
After you select the “Clear local saved games” option, you’ll need to confirm your choice by selecting the “Yes” button.
Note: This will delete all save data for games on your console, but will not delete data stored in the cloud. The next time you open your games, they will automatically sync all the save data from the cloud.
Set Your Xbox To Home For Your Account
If you play across an array of Xbox consoles with your account, you can let Microsoft know which one is your primary console by making it your home Xbox. Once you make a console your home Xbox, everyone on that console can use the content you’ve purchased.
This means others on that Xbox can play the games you’ve bought, or enjoy your Xbox Game Pass subscription on their own accounts, so long as they play on that console.
This also makes Xbox more friendly toward offline gaming. Other accounts can use the stuff you’ve purchased without the need for your account to be constantly online on the console. This simple trick often fixes the “The person who bought this needs to sign in.” error.

Xbox Live Servers Are Down For Some
Update: According to the official Xbox Support Twitter account, users should no longer be experiencing issues signing in.
Original: Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox Live servers are down on Xbox One and other Xbox devices, at least for some users. According to the official Xbox Live Status page, the Xbox Live Core Services are currently running into problems, which includes users not being able to sign in to their Xbox Live accounts. Meanwhile, the page also highlights that the following select games are also experiencing their own isolated issues: Sea of Thieves, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Grand Theft Auto V.
At the moment of publishing, it’s unclear what the problem is. All the Xbox Support Twitter account mentions is that it’s aware some users are unable to sign-in. What’s also unclear is how widespread the problem is, and when a fix will be issued. Xbox provides no answer for the latter, but notes its team is investigating the problem.
We’re aware that some users are unable to sign-in and our teams are investigating. We’ll update here & on our status page when we have more info.

What Are May 2022s Xbox Games With Gold

The four games are the usual mixture of two Xbox One titles and two Xbox or Xbox 360 games that can be played via backward compatibility. Everything is obviously playable on Xbox Series X|S as well. The four games will be made available at different points through the month, as follows:
- Viva Piñata Party Animals 16th to 31st May
So, do Mays Games with Gold add up to a good month for subscribers, or are they disappointing?
Yokus Island Express is probably the best known of the bunch. Coming out in 2018, this game mixed together pinball mechanics with a Metroidvania in a fantastically original way.
In our Yokus Island Express review, Dom called it a beauteous, aurally delightful treat that riffs off the Metroidvania template and pinball tables in a smart and playful manner, but hazarded that Its somewhat tempered by the dual frustrations of the pinball mechanics need for constant precision and a lacklustre fast-travel system.
We were much less favourable over the adventure game The Inner World The Last Wind Monk, with Aran saying its far from being a bad adventure, game but it is nowhere near as good as some other recent releases.
Looking back at the two Xbox 360 titles, you have the racing game Hydro Thunder Hurricane, which will take you to Monster Island and the Bermuda Triandle for a bit of variety, while Viva Piñata Party Animals was a minigame-filled spin off to the adorable Viva Piñata franchise. Can we have a new Viva Piñata game, Rare?

Check The Xbox Live Servers Status
Before going down the list of solutions, it’s worth noting that sometimes the troubles could be from the other side of the wire. Xbox Live servers aren’t perfect and sometimes have outages themselves. When this is the case, there isn’t much you can do except wait for Microsoft to fix the servers.
One helpful step is to recognize that this is beyond your control so that you don’t go on messing around with the network settings in hopes of fixing the “The person who bought this needs to sign in” error. You can check the Xbox Live server status through the Xbox Status webpage. A red sign next to Account & profile or Store & subscription could mean that the issue is on Xbox’s side.

Restart Your Internet Router
It’s possible that Xbox is having issues with your IP address particularly. You’re assigned a new dynamic IP address every time you restart your internet router , so, by restarting your router, you can dump the old IP address and get a new one. One that Xbox won’t have any problems with.
You can restart your router using the physical button on the router itself. Simply turn off the router, wait around 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. Once your internet connection is back, try and access the content on your Xbox. If you don’t like the physical interaction, you can also restart your internet router through the setting page.

Xbox Mobile App And Sharing
In 2020, Microsoft updated the Xbox app on iOS and Android with a more standard design language, inspired by the Fluent Design System Microsoft has been very, very slowly rolling out to Windows.
The app update was a huge boost for speed, but it came at the cost of features. Lots of features. We no longer have the capability to browse the store, check achievements, and do many other things the previous app allowed users to do. There’s no real reason Microsoft couldn’t re-introduce these features, and we expect to start seeing some of the old usability return throughout the year.
Additionally, Microsoft has allowed its Upload Studio feature, which was fairly innovative when it launched, to become completely and hopelessly abandoned. In fact, it’s no longer pre-installed on the current-gen Xbox systems. With vertical video and all the innovations taking place on Tiktok, Instagram, and Twitter for sharing edited video, it feels like Microsoft is missing an opportunity to capitalize on the short-form memetics of these new trends. If I want to upload a game clip from my Xbox to any service other than Twitter, it’s an absolute pain, and even then, all you can do is trim your clip. This is something that Microsoft could really innovate with.
