Finding an in-stock PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X has been a challenge throughout most of 2021, but things might start looking up later this week. According to the latest report from TechRadar, Best Buy will be restocking its in-store console inventories on Thursday, September 23rd making this the first brick and mortar resupply of 2021 and your best chance yet at snagging an elusive next-gen console.
Best Buy had been one of the most reliable locations to purchase a PS5 or Xbox Series X online since launch day last year. The electronics giant provided nearly weekly inventory refreshes up until August, at which point its supply dried up. Many had speculated that it simply couldnt land any more shipments from Sony or Microsoft both of which have seen console production slowed by the ongoing semiconductor shortage but it seems Best Buy was simply holding onto inventory for a massive nationwide inventory drop.
Either method would mark a striking change to Best Buys ordering process, as customers previously needed to wait three to five business days after confirming an online purchase before their local store made it available for pickup.

Xbox Series X Restocks At Target
Target’s Xbox Series X restock strategy has changed pretty dramatically recently the retailer’s new policy is that the Xbox Series X and S can now be sold as soon as inventory is available, rather than waiting for set drop dates. This means we’re now seeing Xbox Series X availability nearly every day at Target–however, this is only for certain locations with stock extremely limited. As such, you should make sure your zip code is updated before checking availability at Target. Both Order Pickup and Drive Up will be available for online orders, but no in-store console purchases are allowed.

The holiday season is nearly here, and it’s practically guaranteed that the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will be near the top of wishlists for the second year in a row. Unfortunately, it seems that securing a Series X and Series S won’t be much easier than last holiday season. Almost 11 months have passed since Microsoft’s latest consoles launched, but retailers still don’t have them readily available on shelves . It’s common to see multiple Xbox Series X and Series S restocks each week, including bundles, Xbox All Access payment plans, and standalone consoles. There’s even a special-edition Halo Infinite Xbox Series X releasing in November, but it’s only been restocked a couple times since preorders went live. Often times, Xbox Series X restocks occur with little warning, but hopefully as we enter the holiday season more consoles will be available. You can check out all of the retailer listings for the Series X and Series S below.

If you’re looking to buy an Xbox Series X or Series S this holiday season, you have your work cut out for you. However, we are here to give you the best chance you can possibly have, whether it’s for you or a loved one. Ever since launching roughly a year ago, both the Series X and Series S have been quite difficult to find. Retailers don’t have them readily available on shelves and online restocks tend to sell out in minutes. It probably won’t get much easier to buy a Series X or Series S in the coming months due to increased demand during the holiday season. That said, it’s not uncommon to see multiple Xbox Series X and Series S restocks each week at retailers like Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, and the Microsoft Store. Last week alone we saw two separate restocks at Walmart , all of which were announced ahead of time. Still, the restocks sold out extremely fast. As we start the week, we’ve seen multiple restocks on the Halo Infinite-themed Xbox Series X, which launched this alongside Halo Infinite’s multiplayer mode.

Xbox Series X Latest News And Rumors
It’s all gone very quiet on the Xbox Series X restock front. The console has once again become the harder of the two in-demand next-gen machines to buy. Hopefully, this week sees multiple restocks to make up for the lack of drops over the last month, but if you desperately want a console right now there is in fact a way to get hold of one immediately.
Walmart still has the console available via the Xbox All Access scheme. To partake you’ll need to open a line of credit and pay $34.99 per month over the span of 24 months for your Xbox Series X console. . In both cases, you also get 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Meanwhile, Target announced a huge change to how it handles Xbox Series X restocks. No longer will it be waiting to drop stock in batches as it does with PS5 restock, instead Xbox Series X consoles will be available to buy when stores receive stock.
This essentially means that Target will no longer have nationwide stock drops, and instead, the console will just be available when each individual location receives inventory. We saw this new system come into effect last month when several Target stores offered the Xbox Series X for sale.
But You Know It Won’t Be Easy
It’s been almost a year since Sony and Microsoft released their ninth-generation gaming consoles the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Yet, buying either of the three new consoles has been difficult due to an ongoing chip shortage. If you are still looking to get your hands on one of the latest gaming consoles, Best Buy has announced that select locations will sell both PS5s and Xbox Series X consoles tomorrow.
Heading to Best Buy’s website, the retail chain announced that select locations will have limited quantitiesavailable of the Xbox Series X in addition to the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition. More than 300 Best Buy locations across the United States will carry a limited number of ninth-generation consoles.
To make sure as many people as possible can purchase a console, Best Buy confirmed that each of the eligible retail stores would be enforcing a one-console-per-customer rule, with employees to begin handing out tickets at 7:30 am local time. Acquiring a ticket guarantees you the opportunity to purchase either a PS5 or Xbox Series X inside the store.
Have you played PlayStation 5?
This is the first time Best Buy is selling these highly desirable gaming consoles since both were released last November, which the retailer pledged ahead of both console’s release dates that it would not sell either in-stores until 2021.

When Will Xbox Series X

Microsoft initially said that Xbox Series X|S stock would be “constrained through at least June,” but it’s looking like consoles will be in short supply all summer long. Microsoft hasn’t shared an update on the stock situation for several months, though, and Xbox shortages will likely continue for some time due to the global chip shortage. The widespread semiconductor shortage is affecting several different industries, including console production as well as cars and other tech. The shortage has been “steadily worsening since last year,” according to The Guardian, and shows no sign of improving right now.

Newegg Xbox Series X Restock
Both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X were featured in consecutive Newegg shuffles last week.
Unfortunately, that streak ended abruptly on October 1 and there have been no consoles offered in any lottery draws since. Speaking of which, today’s shuffle entirely comprises PC components like video cards and motherboards.
As always, you can browse for second-hand units elsewhere on Newegg’s website, but any items that you find here will be considerably overpriced. For instance, there is a used Xbox Series X listed on the site for $934, which is nearly double the recommended manufacturer’s price.
Xbox Series X Restock Avoid The Scalpers
One of the reasons for Xbox Series X and Series S stock shortages is due to scalpers snapping up large amounts of next-gen consoles in one big sweep and then selling them for extortionate prices were taking thousands of dollars for a $499 games console.
VGC reported that a now infamous PS5 scalper group going by the name of CrepChiefNotify managed to snap up 1,000 Xbox Series X consoles as soon as they became available at U.K. retailer Very. But in a twist of fate, Very cancelled 1,000 Xbox Series X pre-orders, somewhat torpedoing the efforts of the scalpers.
As frustrating as it can be to find an Xbox Series X or Series S, we suggest you avoid buying a console from these scalpers. Paying massively over the odds for a console that doesn’t have a huge range of new Xbox Series X games isnt a shrewd move in our opinion. If you can hold out, Microsoft should have more Xbox Series X units to ship, as well as the promise of more exclusive games for the console.

Microsoft Halo Infinite Xbox Series X & Elite Controller Restock
Nothing is officially set in stone, but it appears that Microsoft will also go live with a new Halo Infinite Xbox Series X drop this week. However, after disappointing launch day sales disappeared to scalpers in an instant, Microsoft has some work to do when it comes to getting the site ready.
However, Microsoft Customer Service representatives appear to be confirming a Halo Infinite Xbox Series X restock on November 25 at 3 PM PT/ 6 PM ET.
Weve seen the drop described as a bundle, which could mean that it comes with the Limited Edition Halo Wireless Elite controller too . Remember, only Microsoft and GameStop are able to sell the controller in the US.

Xbox Series X Restock Tracker: The Best Places To Get A Console The Week Of Nov 22
Weekend restocks don’t happen often, but we know there will be consoles coming soon. Walmart will offer these consoles online on Nov. 22.
Outside of the big Halo Edition restock event this week, it’s been more challenging than usual to get your hands on a console. This low point in restocks is a great reminder not to trust random third-party retailers attempting to sell consoles through social media, as they almost always end in some kind of scam or price gouge. If you’re trying to get in on an Xbox restock before the holiday season makes them impossible to find, here’s what we’ve found so far.
Xbox restock plans for Black Friday have arrived, and it looks like Walmart’s first. According to these ad scans, Walmart is planning to hold an Xbox restock on Black Friday, Nov. 26. If you’re a part of the Walmart Plus subscription service, you’ll get access to the console 4 hours earlier than anyone else. Just note that the 15-day free trial doesn’t grant you access to the early sales, so you’ll need to pay the $13 per month subscription. Of course, you can always cancel after you get your console, unless you decide it’s worth it to keep paying for early access to things from Walmart .
Want to know how to better your chances of getting a console? Here’s what we’ve got.
