Rust Is Coming To Ps4 And Xbox One This Spring
The multiplayer survival game has come a long way since its early access days.
Rust is finally coming to consoles soon, with PS4 and Xbox One versions now scheduled to release in Spring 2021. The survival game has been enjoying a great deal of success as of late, thanks to Twitch streamers giving the PC version a boost. The previously announced Rust: Console Edition is still without an exact release date, but that version’s publisher, Double Eleven, has narrowed down the release window to this spring.
While that launch will span both last-gen PlayStation and Xbox platforms, there’s no word on a native current-gen release. However, backwards compatibility should allow you to play Rust on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Is Rust Still Coming To Xbox One & Xbox Series X
In a statement from Double Eleven, the company made it clear that Rust is still being made for consoles. The survival game is simply delayed, and development seems to be making steady progress. Even with the obstacles faced by Double Eleven and Facepunch Studios, though, it appears that Rust will be releasing on Xbox consoles fairly soon. The announcement indicates a release window of 2021, although a specific date wasn’t shared.
Of course, the global pandemic is still ongoing, so further development delays may occur as a result. The PC version of Rust continues to get regular updates, which indicates the studio is still developing content at a steady rate. Most likely, a late 2021 release date is imminent for Rust on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. However, additional and unexpected delays could push the console version of the game into 2022.
Until an exact release date is shared, fans are only left with a 2021 release window for Rust. Thankfully, the survival game is already available on PC, and Xbox users have some great alternatives to play while they wait. Hopefully, fans of the game won’t have to wait too much longer before Rust releases on Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Sharing is caring!
One of the most popular post-apocalyptic multiplayer survival games of the last few years has announced that it will finally be porting to consoles this May.
RustRust Console Edition
Rust is and forever will be the baby and brainchild of Facepunch and were extremely grateful to be able to take what theyve done and create our own version of their game, Double Elevens Pedro Silva wrote in the blog. Rust Console Edition is certainly Rust as people know it, but under the hood where weve spent the last few years, weve created a completely different beast designed for consoles and their respective players.
We first started talking to Facepunch in 2016 about the idea of creating a Console version of Rust and how that could work. We knew early on that the two games would need to be in separate universes given that the PC edition can expand as it needed to.
The post goes on to explain the importance of maintaining such a dedicated and established community as the game opens up a whole new avenue, and some of the challenges the team faced with the console port.
To accommodate the game on these systems, some light optimisations wouldnt cut it! So the team needed to rip apart and rewrite major engine subsystems within Unity, the post states. Some of the systems we designed and refactored helped us a lot, improving the performance of the game over on consoles.

Is Rust Coming To Xbox Ps4 Or Nintendo Consoles
The major question that is bugging quite a lot of Xbox, PS4, and Nintendo users as of late is the fact whether Rust will release on these platforms or not. Well, we are here to answer all that in detail. Initially conceived as a DayZ clone, Rust is an online multiplayer-only game belonging to the survival mode genre. You will be placed into deep jungles and wilderness where survival is the key. However, it isnt so easy as it sounds. Theres a continuous threat looming around from deadly bears and wolves. Apart from that, you will also have to keep a check on your hunger, thirst, and health otherwise dying a lonely death in the wild is anything but imminent.
Fortunately, there are quite a few things that you could use to tackle off the dangers. To begin with, you could make full use of firearms and primitive weapons to attack the animals in the wild. There will also be some NPC roaming around in vehicles looking for the perfect moment to attack you, so keep a safe distance from them. You should also consider building bases and joining other clans to increase your survival chances. Likewise, raiding is again a pretty important aspect of the game, allowing you to loot many useful resources. So all this brings us to a crucial question, will Xbox, PS4, and Nintendo users be able to enjoy Rust after all? Is the game releasing on the said platform? Well, lets check it out.
Will Rust Get A Physical Release
Yes, it will! Facepunch and Double Eleven are partnering with Koch Media to release Rust physically at GameStop and Amazon. It will cost $49.99 and includes the Future Weapons and Tools Pack as a pre-order bonus. Digitally, players can pay full price at $59.99 to get the Deluxe Edition.
This includes everything from that regular version of the game, plus Closed Beta access, the Welcome Pack DLC, and access to the port on May 18. If you dont mind spending $79.99, you can get Rust Ultimate Edition, which has everything the Deluxe Edition in addition to an upgraded version of the Welcome Pack, 1100 Rust Coins, and the Elite Combat Skin Pack.
Rust will be released on PS4 and Xbox One this Spring.

Rust: Console Edition Announced For Ps4 Xbox One Release In May
It will also be available on next-gen consoles through backwards compatibility
The developer shared the news via the games official blog. The console versions of the now seven-year-old multiplayer survival game will launch on May 21 for PS4 and Xbox One. The game can also be played on PS5, Xbox Series X|S via backwards compatibility.
While the console version of Rust is based off the PC version that launched in 2013 through early access, the developer noted that the console versions have been designed and optimised for a completely separate and unique console player experience.
The game will take up around 4.5GB of RAM on consoles, compared to an average of 20GB on PCs for optimal performance. The console version will also include loading times of around one minute give or take.
The developer shared that for its first console test version, the initial load took up to 45 minutes to read and decompress the enormous procedural map and its assets into memory.
The developer also noted that it had to rebuild several of the games more advance features so it would translate well on console. It also said that the console versions of Rust will come with regular updates.

Is Rust Launching In Xbox Game Preview
The question has been asked on Reddit, yet still, developer Facepunch Studios hasnt offered any official confirmation on the matter. At the time of writing, there are no announced plans to bring Rust to Xbox Game Preview. Instead, it appears as though Rust will release as a final product from the start on Xbox One, just as it presumably will on PS4.
This may not necessarily be the case, however, as Rust isnt expected to land on Xbox until the second half of 2020 according to its creator, Garry Newman. This does leave time for plans to be announced and the game to spend a relatively brief period of time in Xbox Game Preview, but thats certainly no guarantee.
With Steam Early Access being attributed to the games initial success, some might see skipping out on a Rust Xbox Game Preview release as a missed opportunity. Games like Ark: Survival Evolved and Player Unknowns Battlegrounds thrived in the Xbox Game Preview environment and already boasted flourishing communities when the full release versions rolled around. Whether or not Rust could lose out on this boon if Facepunch Studios has opted out remains to be seen.

Is Rust On Game Pass
Lets cut right to the chase, shall we? Rust, currently at the time of this writing, is not available to download from Xbox Game Pass on PC or just regular ol Game Pass.
This could change in either the near or far future. Its very hard to predict what games do come to Xbox, only that Microsoft is trying to aggressively expand the service and you can regularly expect good games to trickle onto the service.
If we were to offer up a guess, generally if a game isnt added to Game Pass right when it comes out, if its a paid game, it may be a few months or more before it does eventually get added. It could be that the developers are waiting to get some sales first before joining Game Pass once the sales start to slow.
This is just speculation, though, and we have no idea when or if Rust will ever come to Game Pass. Thats all you need to know for now. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but hopefully you got your answer and you can move on with your life. Just keep a close eye on the to see if Rust ever gets added. If it does, well be sure to update this post.
