Auto Hdr On Xbox Series X
Like the Xbox One, the Xbox Series X allows for calibration of HDR for games. We’d advise setting this before playing any games, as it ensures the balance of contrast is spot-on, giving you the best visuals possible.
For our initial review, we primarily had access to a selection of backwards-compatible titles which are the best indicator of the boost in performance the Xbox Series X delivers over its last-gen counterparts. With the above settings enabled, we found that the games immediately looked better on the Xbox Series X which isn’t particularly surprising, given that Microsoft has implemented native HDR for these titles.
We go into detail as to how this performance boost improves Xbox Series X Optimized titles further down, but in short, when playing backwards-compatible titles on the Xbox One S and Xbox Series X versions side-by-side we could clearly see the visual upgrade.

Create accounts with every major retailer
Every second matters when youre trying to secure an Xbox Series X, which is why you should create accounts and store your payment info at a few retailers ahead of time. YouTuber Jake Randall recommends storing a PayPal or Apple Pay account instead of a credit card if possible, as it will allow you to circumvent some of the heavy site traffic that occurs during a restock.
Once youre logged in to stores such as Amazon and Best Buy and already have a payment option set up, youll have much less clicking and typing to do once its time to add that new Xbox to your cart.

Halo Infinite Xbox Series X Limited Edition Console Release Date And Price
The Halo Infinite Xbox Series X Limited Edition console is currently scheduled to be released on November 15. If youre wondering how that will work given that Halo Infiniteisnt being released until December 8, it seems that the copy of the game you receive with your limited edition Xbox Series X is digital and wont be accessible until December 8.
Microsoft has also confirmed that the MSRP for the Halo InfiniteXbox Series X Limited Edition console is set at $549.99. Thats about $50 more expensive than the base Xbox Series X, though youll of course have to pay much more than that for it if you end up having to go through resellers.
When Will Xbox Series X
Microsoft initially said that Xbox Series X|S stock would be “constrained through at least June,” but it’s looking like consoles will be in short supply all summer long. Microsoft hasn’t shared an update on the stock situation for several months, though, and Xbox shortages will likely continue for some time due to the global chip shortage. The widespread semiconductor shortage is affecting several different industries, including console production as well as cars and other tech. The shortage has been “steadily worsening since last year,” according to The Guardian, and shows no sign of improving right now.

Xbox Series X Review: Price And Release Date
The Xbox Series X release date was November 10, 2020.
The Xbox Series X launched at $499.99 in the US, £449.99 in the UK, 499.99 in Europe and AU$749 in Australia to buy outright up-front.
Microsoft is running its Xbox All Access program, too, which let’s you pay $34.99 a month for 24 months to get the system with a 2-year sub to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Here at T3 we think this purchase program is excellent, if hamstrung right now at launch due to a lack of available consoles.
Microsoft deserves a hat tip, though, for offering it to gamers, as it makes a very expensive piece of gaming hardware much more affordable.
As evidenced by T3’s Xbox Series X pre-order guide, getting hold of an Xbox Series X over the past few weeks has proved very difficult, as official stock at the Microsoft Store, as well as retail partners like Amazon, and Walmart, has run dry.
For today’s best Xbox Series X prices be sure to consult the deals charts below.
Multimedia On Xbox Series X
The Series X also offers a range of multimedia features. For one, the console boasts a built-in 4K Blu-ray player thats simple to use.
You also have access to a range of streaming services: theres Netflix, , Disney Plus, and others that are available on existing Xbox One consoles, plus some that are new to the platform, including Apple TV Plus and region-specific apps such as Hulu in the US and Sky Go in the UK. All of these can take advantage of the console’s 4K UHD capabilities, although some require a decent internet connection.
While all the most popular entertainment apps are available, we did find that there are still some that we wish we had access to, such as ITV Hub and BBC iPlayer in the UK.

Xbox Series X Review: Verdict
The Xbox Series X is a powerhouse with hardware that will go the distance.
Truth be told, this is one of the hardest console reviews I’ve ever done. That’s because I feel the Xbox Series X raises raises the question of what we should expect from a video game console in 2020 and, what’s more, I think the answer probably runs contrary to what a lot of gamers have grown up being used to.
I think it’s fair to say that, historically, traditional gen-switching video game console launches have come with order of magnitude leaps in graphical fidelity, gameplay, and features. When, for example, the Nintendo 64 launched, it was sold alongside Super Mario 64, which comprehensibly raised the bar in terms of what was possible on a video game console.
That leap from the 2D side-scrolling Super Mario World on Super Famicom, to the fully 3D Super Mario 64 on N64 communicated the generational leap incredibly vividly. Equally, the jump say, from Sega Saturn to Sega Dreamcast, was marked thanks to Sonic Adventure.
And who can forget the original Xbox launch title, Halo: Combat Evolved, the game that would go on to spawn one of the most beloved and played series of all time. That game looked amazing for a console game at the time, and changed the landscape at the console’s launch.
With this generation, and specifically with the Xbox Series X, those games don’t exist.
The Xbox Series X launch line-up of new, exclusive games is underwhelming the reason to upgrade not so obvious.

Can I Move My Xbox One Games And Saves To An Xbox Series X Or Series S
If you have an Xbox Live account on an Xbox One that has been connected to the internet, your game saves already live online in the cloud, and they will be available while youre signed in on your Xbox Series X or Series S. You can also transfer games and saves from an Xbox One console to an Xbox Series X or Series S over your network or via a USB hard drive. And if you have an Xbox 360 but dont have an Xbox One, good news: Microsoft is making cloud saves for Xbox 360 owners free, separate from your Xbox Live subscription.
For backward-compatible games on the Series X and Series S, your saves from a previous-generation Xbox should work. That should also apply to games that support Smart Delivery. For games with an Xbox One version separate from the Xbox Series X and Series S versionsuch as NBA 2K21 or save compatibility falls on the developer to implement .
Prepare Your Accounts At All The Retailers
On all the devices you might use to try to purchase a next-gen console, make sure you’re signed on all the major retailer sites. It’s also wise to keep your credit card on file so you don’t have to mess with entering your details while the clock ticks down while you try to check out.
Speaking of retailers, each of the major retailers has its own quirks for dealing with Xbox Series X and S when it comes back into stock. Here’s what to expect from each one.

Xbox Series X Review: Unboxing And Design
The Xbox Series X design is a matte black rectangular prism.
As can be seen in the below Xbox Series X unboxing video, the console comes very securely packaged. The contents of the box include the console itself, as well as the new model Wireless Xbox Controller, batteries for the controller, a power lead, HDMI cable, and product and quick start guides.
The console itself is a black rectangular prism that’s more than twice as fat as the Xbox One X console that proceeded it. In terms of design, there is no doubting that the Series X is clean and minimalist, and I can see it blending into a lot of setups quite easily. In that sense, I think Microsoft has succeeded. This is a console that will not offend the eye.
The Xbox Series X alongside its predecessor flagship, the Xbox One X.
Equally, though, from my personal perspective, I feel the design is really uninspired. This is basically the safest play I can think of, and can’t help feeling just a little underwhelmed when looking at it. This is the most powerful games console on Earth but it looks even more dull than a NAS drive.
Naturally, for you it could look amazing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all.
Getting the system set up physically is a piece of cake. You simply choose an orientation for the Xbox Series X . then plug in the power cord and connect the system to one of the TV’s HDMI ports with the included cable.

Xbox Series X Or Xbox Series S
Before you buy the first Xbox that becomes available, you should know that Microsofts two new consoles have some significant differences. The $499 Xbox Series X is the flagship powerhouse of the family, designed to deliver immersive 4K gaming complete with a Blu-ray disc player and 1TB of internal storage for housing your digital downloads. If you have a 4K TV and want to experience the highest performance available on a console, you should spring for the Series X.
The $299 Xbox Series S is the streamlined, entry-level machine, able to play games at up to 1440p resolution and has roughly half the internal storage at 512GB. The Series S lacks a disc drive, so youre limited to digital downloads only. Its also significantly smaller than the chunky Xbox Series X, if space is a concern. If youre still using a 1080p TV but want to enjoy many of the perks of next-gen gaming, this is the system for you.
Fortunately, these systems have a lot of key features in common. Both use a solid state drive , which allows games to load up within seconds. The Series X and Series S both feature Quick Resume, which lets you bounce between a handful of games at once without losing your progress in any of them. And theyre both capable of running games at up to 120 frames per second for super-smooth gameplay, complete with ray tracing technology that allows for ultra-realistic lighting and shadows.
