Then in December 2020, developers Facepunch Studios and Double Eleven released a blog post confirming the delay: “We love making great games and bringing them to new audiences, but that sometimes means taking a bit longer to get it right than we originally planned and comes at the unfortunate cost of the disappointment and trust of those who were so keen to play it upon launch,” the blog post said.

The game was rated by the ESRB in January, and a closed beta for the console ports was subsequently held. Clearly, this was all building toward a May release.

What The Xbox One Release Date Is For Rust

After four years, Rust finally left Steams early access program last week, rewarding those players who helped during the development process with Frog Boots and offering a more polished experience than weve previously seen. Though Rust is far from being 100% completed, some fans may be wondering if theres any word on an Xbox One release date now that the PC version is officially out of its early access phase.

Currently, an Xbox One release date hasnt really been nailed down. Over on the games official site, console versions of Rust are listed in the roadmaps Q3 2018+ column, meaning they could come any time from about September onwards.

Even then, the wording for the console versions on the roadmap doesnt sound like an Xbox One release date is a real concern right now. At some point, when the game makes sense and has very little confusing elements and performance issues, deploy console versions.

As such, it seems that the console versions are very much a case of theyll arrive once the PC version is all sorted. Once we get word of any update regarding an Xbox One release date, well be sure to update this post and let you know.

When Is Rust Releasing On Consoles

Console players who have an interest in Rust will be happy to know that the game is set to come to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2020. The announcement was made in November 2019 in a trailer.

Following the announcement, Facepunch chief Garry Newman was interviewed on the PlayStation Blog about the development of the upcoming port. He revealed that they began work on the console versions of the game in 2018 when the PC version came out of Early Access. They genuinely believe that Rust is the best survival game on PC, so they have used the last couple of years to dedicate themselves to making it the best survival game on console as well.

Newman also revealed that players would be able to host their servers. Newman says that its important for us to allow players to take ownership and configure their servers to their preferences, so expect easy server customization.

With no firm release date set, we do not know precisely when Rust will come to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One yet. Facepunch has not revealed any new details on the console ports in quite a while, and there is no indication of how the pandemic has affected their development.

Rust Console Edition: What You Should Know

Rust is an open-world survival multiplayer game that first launched through Steam on PC back in early 2018. It had a long period in early access five years to be exact. The objective in Rust is simply to survive the harsh land. Unfortunately, this harsh land is filled with deadly creatures.

Even worse, is that the game is filled with up to 100 other players on the same server. You will have to do everything you possibly can to stay alive and to protect what is yours. Or you can go on the offensive, and take from others for your own personal gain. Either way, you will be put to the test in the ultimate survival situation.

Rust plays out like most typical open-world survival games. You start out with nothing and have to scrounge around in the environment for sticks and stones so you can start crafting tools. Once you get yourself somewhat established, it’s time to venture out and explore the island and truly experience the game that is, if no other player has already shown up and harassed you at this point. Rust progression ranges from simple weapons and clothing to crafting fully automatic weapons, heavy armor, and a whole lot more. You could say the end-game portion of Rust is basically PUBG but with base building and survival mechanics.

RUST More Beta Keys Going Out! PS4 XBOX PS5 Xbox Series X|S

In a statement from Double Eleven, the company made it clear that Rust is still being made for consoles. The survival game is simply delayed, and development seems to be making steady progress. Even with the obstacles faced by Double Eleven and Facepunch Studios, though, it appears that Rust will be releasing on Xbox consoles fairly soon. The announcement indicates a release window of 2021, although a specific date wasn’t shared.

Of course, the global pandemic is still ongoing, so further development delays may occur as a result. The PC version of Rust continues to get regular updates, which indicates the studio is still developing content at a steady rate. Most likely, a late 2021 release date is imminent for Rust on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. However, additional and unexpected delays could push the console version of the game into 2022.

Until an exact release date is shared, fans are only left with a 2021 release window for Rust. Thankfully, the survival game is already available on PC, and Xbox users have some great alternatives to play while they wait. Hopefully, fans of the game won’t have to wait too much longer before Rust releases on Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
