The Microsoft Store opened preorders on February 16, but it’s also headed to third-party retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart.

The Xbox Wireless Headset costs $99 for U.S. buyers, securing a relatively affordable retail price in the context of fully-wireless gaming headsets. A single kit will cost $24,99. This sounds expensive, but if you think about how many batteries youd have to buy over the years, its worth it.

Xbox Series X Price: How Much Will It Cost In Australia

The Xbox Series X will cost $749 in Australia. When we consider tax and exchange rates, that’s exactly the same price as it is the USA. So no “Australia Tax” to complain about this time.

There was hope that, with the coronavirus pandemic in full swing and economies across the world suffering, Microsoft would come in at a more competitive price point. But at $749, it’s the most expensive console launch in the company’s history by $100. Indeed, it’s $300 more than the current top-of-the-line Xbox One X model.

It is, however, supported by its smaller brother, the $499 Xbox Series S. As well as the enticing pay as you play optoin in Telstra All Access. These do lower the barrier for entry for Aussies cash-strapped during COVID-19.

The premium version of Sony’s PlayStation 5 console will also come in at $749, giving neither console a price advantage. However, Microsoft’s Xbox Series S beats out the Digital Edition of the PS5 by $100 at retail. This is due to the Xbox Series S taking a power hit, while the PS5 DE is the same console as its big brother minus a Blu-ray drive.

Here is the current list of Smart Delivery games that will have improved textures and graphics when players run them on the next-gen consoles.

A Lot Can Change In A Few Years

The Xbox One is a very, very different console to what Microsoft intended it to be.

Gone is the Kinect, one of the systems signature features, making way for more power to become a games console proper, rather than a family entertainment system it was originally intended to be.

The result was what many people saw as an under-powered piece of kit ultimately resulting in the Xbox One X, a supercharged version of the console using a very different technical architecture, which rocketed the Xbox into 4K territory .

Whats clear from Xbox Series X is that Microsoft know exactly what this is.

The tower structure nods to gaming PC and the performance will be some two times faster than the Xbox One X.

Xbox Series X Stock Updates: Where To Buy The New Xbox Consoles

ByBrendan Griffiths, Tabitha Bakerpublished 13 December 21

Looking to buy an Xbox Series X? This guide has the latest stock updates at a wide range of retailers.

Xbox Series X restocks have slowed considerably in recent weeks, and we’re now into the final countdown for those keen to pick up a console before the holidays. While no retailers have let any restock rumors slip at time of writing, there’s always the possibility of stumbling across more Xbox Series X stock. We’d recommend keeping your search alive between 1pm ET and 6pm ET and staying in touch with retailers and trackers on social media.

We certainly hope some more Xbox Series X restocks are on the way over the next week, anyway – it’s actually harder to find a Series X right now than it is a PS5 restock . With that in mind, we’ve put together all the advice we can on where to buy Xbox Series X… or how to give yourself the best odds of success, at least.

In general, though, we wouldn’t expect Xbox Series X restock woes to end any time soon. With Microsoft itself announcing that shortages will likely continue well into 2022, it doesn’t look like these supply issues will let up any time soon.

Keep checking back on this guide if you’re not successful right away, as we’ll be updating it next time we get warnings of Xbox Series X stock coming online.

Third Generation: Xbox One

Xbox Series X|S Release Date & Prices CONFIRMED!

The Xbox One was released on November 22, 2013 in North America, as the successor of the Xbox 360. The Xbox One competes with Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Nintendo’s Wii U and Switch as part of the eighth generation of video game consoles.

Announced on May 21, 2013, the Xbox One has an emphasis on internet-based features, including the ability to record and stream gameplay, and the ability to integrate with a set-top box to watch cable or satellite TV through the console with an enhanced guide interface and Kinect-based voice control.

On June 13, 2016, Microsoft announced the Xbox One S at E3 2016, which featured a smaller form factor, as well as support for 4K video and HDR. At E3 2017, Microsoft unveiled Xbox One X, a high-end model with improved hardware designed to facilitate the playing of games at 4K resolution.

Since November 2014, Microsoft has stated it will not release sales numbers for the Xbox One line. Industry estimates project global sales of the Xbox One family to be about 51 million units. Xbox head Phil Spencer said that while they do internally track sales figures, they do not want their developers to be focused on these numbers as to affect their products, and thus have opted not to report further sales of Xbox hardware going forward.

The console sold out completely upon release in all regions except in Japan. Several retail configurations of the core Xbox 360 model were offered over its lifetime, varying the amount of RAM and internal storage offered.

The Xbox 360 showed an expanded Xbox Live service , the ability to stream multimedia content from PCs, while later updates added the ability to purchase and stream music, television programs, and films through the Xbox Music and Xbox Video services, along with access to third-party content services through third-party media streaming applications. Microsoft also released Kinect, a motion control system for the Xbox 360 which uses an advanced sensor system.

The second major revision of the Xbox 360 was the Xbox 360 E, released in 2013. It featured a case style similar to the upcoming Xbox One, and eliminated one USB port and the S/PDIF, YPbPr component and S-video connections, but otherwise shared the same specifications as the Xbox 360 S.

Xbox Family Settings App

In May 2020, Xbox presented a preview version of an app that allows parents and guardians to set daily limits for their children’s playing time, provides weekly activity reports, filters out age-restricted games, and places limits on online communication. This is the attempt of Microsoft, Xbox’s owner, to promote a message of responsible gaming. The full release is expected in the end of 2020 or later.

System Software And Features

How to Preorder the Xbox Series X and Series S: Pricing ...

Both consoles feature a similar user interface to the Xbox One, but there has been a 40% reduction in memory use to improve its speed. According to the UI development team, the Home section loads in about half the time as it did on the Xbox One. Other changes include adding rounded UI elements, a more-readable font for text elements, rearrangement of certain aligned features, and improvements to the sharing functions. These changes were brought to the Xbox One system software, the Windows’ Xbox application, and the Xbox mobile application around September 2020. Based on system previews, about 200 GB of space was reserved on the internal drive of the Xbox Series X for system files.

The console’s Quick Resume feature will allow users to suspend and resume more than one game at a time, and also resume suspended games after a reboot of the console.

Several video and streaming media services will be available through the system software on the consoles’ launch notably, it will be the first time that Apple TV+ will be available on Xbox consoles.

Microsoft plans to migrate the xCloud service from Xbox One S-based blade servers to Xbox Series X-based systems by 2021.

The Xbox Game Preview program, which allows games to be released through an early access model, continued into the Xbox Series X/S line with Spacebase Startopia in January 2021.

Fps Boost On Xbox Series X

Microsoft has added a new feature to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S post-launch called FPS Boost, which has the potential to quadruple the framerates of older titles. It means that games that were previously locked to 30 frames per second can now hit 60fps – some games can even hit 120fps.

At present, FPS Boost only applies to Xbox One games, and to a specific selection of games. But the list is fairly extensive and were likely to see this feature rolled out to Xbox 360 and original Xbox games in the future. FPS Boost is a fantastic upgrade, particularly for those with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, as it allows Xbox One games to utilize the power of the Xbox Series X. So, for compatible games, it feels less of a technological step back when you decide to revisit some of your favorite Xbox One games.

If, for some reason, you don’t want to play these games at a higher framerate, you can also turn it off on a per-game basis. However, we’d recommend leaving it on as it makes games look visually smoother and feel far more responsive.

We’ve included some of the games which benefit from FPS Boost below, but you can also check out the full list here.

  • Far Cry 4 – 60fps
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Special Edition – 60fps

Gta 5 Ps5 And Xbox Series X Release Date

Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 5 is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in March 2022, bringing “new features and more”. The game was originally set to release on November 11, 2021 but has been pushed back.

GTA Online will also release as a separate standalone edition during March 2022. Could this be a deliberate move to reduce GTA’s storage demands, and allow the multiplayer component to do more ambitious things? Or is it simply to position GTA Online as a continuous entity, even if another numbered GTA gets announced in the next couple of years? We’ll have to wait and see.

PlayStation owners have a significant advantage in all of this. If you play GTA Online on PS4, you’ll get GTA$1 million to spend in-game every month until the PS5 version of GTA launches. And when GTA Online’s standalone edition arrives on PS5 in March 2022, owners of the console will have three months to claim the game for free after release – until June 2022. That means that Xbox Series X/S owners will have to pay if they want to play the new version of GTA Online at launch, though a price hasn’t been disclosed.

It remains unclear if GTA 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X will offer those who own the game on PS4 and Xbox One a paid upgrade option or whether these new versions will need to be bought outright.

Virtual Reality Floor Mat

Loads of Xbox Game Pass Additions, New Releases, and Events | This Week on Xbox

Back in October 2019, a patent was awarded to Microsoft for a virtual reality floor mat. The patent describes a virtual reality floor mat activity region which keeps track of your space in VR. It sounds a lot like the virtual guardian boundary that exists on the Oculus Quest 2 and other headsets with inside-out tracking.

Microsofts patent describes a few extra features:

  • A dedicated start position that would launch a specific VR experience by positioning your feet on special markets
  • Pressure sensors to detect activity and movement
  • Haptic feedback to vibrate on your feet when you are close to the mat boundary.
