Reason Behind The Success Of Orignal Xbox

Xbox One X HDMI Out No Signal to TV

As we have said above that market was already occupied by many players at the time of launch of Xbox, and because of this it never managed to outsell the PlayStation 2 or even come close to it. But because of some reasons, Xbox established itself in the console marketplace. The most exciting or we can say significant factor for the history of gaming was the introduction of Xbox Live. At that time, other consoles also had some online features, but Xbox Live changed gaming permanently by making online play central to the console experience.

Other than that Microsofts acquisition of Bungie Studios was also the reason behind the success of Xbox. Bungies flagship Xbox game, Halo, was a huge success and remained one of the best shooters ever released the sequel, Halo 2, sold a record-breaking 2.4 million copies in its first 24 hours and became one of the most popular games of its generation. A third factor was the massive price cut from $299.99 to $199.99 Microsoft introduced in the spring of 2002. Sales of the console increased by over 50% from the first half of 2002 to the second, giving the Xbox a foothold in more gamers living rooms.

Xbox Series X Vs Xbox One X Specs

When it comes to specs, this is where the Xbox Series X really differentiates itself. The console is packed with some seriously impressive hardware, many of which allow for technological advancements that you simply wont find on Xbox One X, such as graphically intensive ray tracing support and frame rates up to 120fps. Check out the Xbox Series X specs below:

  • CPU: Eight-core 3.8GHz custom AMD 7nm
  • GPU: 12 teraflops 1.825GHz
  • RAM: 16GB GDDR6
  • Optical: HD Blu-Ray disk drive
  • Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD

The consoles GPU also dwarfs that of the Xbox One X when it comes to computational power. It boasts a 12 teraflop GPU instead of the Xbox One Xs 6 teraflop GPU, making it essentially twice as powerful as Microsofts older machine.

The Xbox Series X also comes with a super-fast 1TB NVMe SSD, which has a transformative effect on games. Its storage system can boost load times by up to 40 times higher than a regular mechanical hard drive, and the new storage format allows for features such as Quick Resume, where you can suspend and switch between multiple games at a time.

The SSD is used in conjunction with Microsofts new Xbox Velocity Architecture which, while in its early stages, promises to leave load times in the past and help overcome previous developer bottlenecks such as slow I/O performance and texture streaming.

The Xbox One X, while certainly showing its age, is no slouch, though. Check out the Xbox One X specs below:

Xbox Series X Review: Backwards Compatibility

In the run-up to the release of the Xbox Series X, backwards compatibility was touted a lot by Microsoft, as well as keen Xbox gamers. Such was the hype, I had steeled myself for disappointment. But I neednt have worried as backwards compatibility on the Xbox Series X is superb.

Simply put, getting an Xbox game from any generation to run on the Xbox Series X is just a case of getting the disc and popping it into the console. If the game is backwards compatible, and many should be, then itll begin an installation process. If you have access to Xbox Game Pass, then you can simply download any game thats listed on the service that dates back as far as the original Xbox.

These games wont immediately be able to put the graphical horsepower of the Series X to use, if ever. But the fact they can be installed directly to the consoles SSD means theyll load up in seconds. And any games that used to run badly on older hardware, should at least be a little smoothed out.

There are limits in that a game locked at 30 frames per second wont suddenly run at 60 fps or more unless it gets optimized. I found that to be the case with Red Dead Redemption, which runs at 4K/30 fps on the Series X, much like it did on the One X. Throwing Assassin’s Creed 2 in the Series X results in a game that loads a lot faster and feels smoother than it ever did on the Xbox 360.

What Is The Xbox Series X

The Xbox Series X is the star of Microsoft’s next-gen show and the bigger, badder sibling to the Xbox Series S. Built around powerful new hardware from AMD, including its new Navi graphics architecture and a Zen 2 CPU, the Series X is designed to minimize load times and get you into games as quickly as possible. In the announcement reel, Microsoft employees threw out some pretty baller numbers: four times more powerful than the current most powerful console on the planet, the Xbox One X, four times better performance than the current generation in terms of load times, and the biggest generational leap in Microsoft’s console history.

Dynamic Latency Input optimises latency, starting with the Xbox Wireless Controller, which makes sure that input is synchronised immediately with what’s displayed, making controls even more precise and responsive. HDMI 2.1 support introduces even more latency-reducing technology too.

Smart Delivery is super exciting too, and means you’re getting the best version of the game possible without having to pay for the Xbox Series X version. Basically, if you buy a game on the Xbox One, you will also be able to play on Xbox Series X – including Halo Infinite.

The Xbox One X’s Headlining Features Though Are Its Support For 4k And Its Hdr Gaming At Up To 60 Frames Per Second If A Given Game Supports All Of That It Should Be Sharper Look More Lifelike And Run Smoother Than It Does On Other Consoles There Are A Few Things To Note Here Though

Microsoft: Xbox One X Is Not A Half Step Or A New Generation

The most obvious is that you’ll need a TV that supports 4K or HDR playback in the first place ideally both.

From there, it’s worth reading our explainer about what exactly 4K and HDR do. In short, HDR is the more substantive upgrade. It can bring better contrast and more lively colors, which leads to a more compelling image.

The sharper resolution that comes with 4K is great if you have a big-enough TV or if you sit up close to a smallish TV or gaming monitor but it’s difficult to see those extra pixels if that panel is on the small side and your couch is far enough away.

If you can take advantage of the higher resolution, though, Microsoft is promising various games that will be built from the ground up to support 4K instead of using display-tech tricks to create the effect of a higher resolution, as the PS4 Pro sometimes does. Plus, it is easier to see the difference in smoothness when a game runs at 60 frames per second.

The point of the Xbox One X’s stronger hardware is to run this kind of high-spec game more consistently though it remains to be seen how capable it is of doing that.

To compare, the Xbox One S also supports 4K, but only through video streaming and Blu-rays, not gaming. It does support HDR10 games, however. It can also play up to 60 frames per second, technically speaking, but it can’t do everything at once the way the Xbox One X ostensibly can. It’s a less powerful console than the Xbox One X, and that affects a lot of other factors.

Xbox Series X Review: Verdict

The Xbox Series X is the one Xbox to rule them all. Its a single machine thatll run generations of Xbox games, and run them well. Furthermore, itll do so without looking fussy or making a racket.

Sure, $499 is still a good wad of cash to drop on a gaming machine that hasn’t yet shown any breathtaking next-gen capabilities. But I think its a reasonable price to pay for the tech youre getting. The latest AMD processor and graphics technology promises a lot of power, and the joy of loading games up in mere seconds rather than minutes cant be underestimated. While PCs have had SSDs for a while now, you’d struggle to build a gaming machine with this power and advanced storage for $1,000, let alone half that price.

I was originally expecting to feel a little disappointed with the Series X, given that theres no one killer app or game to really make it feel like a next-gen powerhouse. But as games now look so good, were not going to get the graphical leap we’ve seen in previous generation consoles. Rather, the Series X is all about making the experience of gaming easier, faster and just better.

With that in mind, the Xbox Series X is a triumph in the here and now. But I cant wait to see what it will be able to do in a years time

Is It Worth Buying A Xbox One S In 2020

The Xbox One S and Xbox One X are great gaming consoles to buy in 2020, but you may be tempted to buy the Xbox Series X, PS5, or switch to the PS4 Pro. If you are looking for ways to occupy your time this winter, its a good time to buy an Xbox One S or Xbox One X.

Kinect For Xbox 360 Marketing And Launch

Microsoft continued to refine the Kinect technology in the months leading to the Kinect launch in November 2010. By launch, Kipman reported they had been able to reduce the Kinect’s use of the Xbox 360’s processor from 10 to 15% as reported in January 2010 to a “single-digit percentage”.

Microsoft heavily advertised and promoted the Kinect launch. According to The New York Post, Microsoft had a $500 million budget for this marketing. While this claim was widely re-reported, The marketing campaign You Are the Controller, aiming to reach new audiences, included advertisements on Kellogg’s cereal boxes and Pepsi bottles, commercials during shows such as Dancing with the Stars and Glee as well as print ads in various magazines such as People and InStyle.

Microsoft gave away Kinect units and Xbox 360 consoles to all members of the audience at the October 19, 2010 The Oprah Winfrey Show, and similarly followed suit two weeks later for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Kinect was launched in North America on November 4, 2010 in Europe on November 10, 2010 in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore on November 18, 2010 and in Japan on November 20, 2010. Purchase options for the sensor peripheral include a bundle with the game Kinect Adventures, and as a hardware bundle with Kinect Adventures and the redesigned Xbox 360 S console with either a 4 GB or 250 GB

The Next X And The End Of An Era

What Happens When You Put an Xbox Series X Disc in an Xbox One??

On May 12, 2005, Microsoft unveiled the Xbox 360, the next generation of its gaming console. With plans to release the 360 in November, the company clearly hoped that an early debut almost a full year before the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii were scheduled to arrive would put the 360 in a good position to dominate the market. It also meant the writing was on the wall for the original Xbox.

Later that year, production of the Xbox officially ceased, with the final tally of sold consoles sitting at around 24 million units. While this was nothing to scoff at, the number fell far short of Microsofts initial prediction of 50 million Xbox consoles in households around the world. It was nowhere near the sales totals of the PS2, which went on to sell over 153 million units, but the Xbox did outsell both Nintendos GameCube , and Segas Dreamcast . The last game produced for the Xbox in North America, Madden 09, was released in August 2008, and support for the system was discontinued in March 2009. The final nail in the consoles coffin was hammered on April 14, 2010, with Xbox Live access eliminated for the original Xbox.

Should I Buy Xbox Series S

The only real downside to the Series S performance is that on a 1080p TV, it looks almost identical to what youd find on an Xbox One. However, it still loads content much faster than the Xbox One did and since the Xbox One still costs $300, the Series S is a much smarter buy from the get -go.

Xbox Series X: Design

Youd be forgiven for saying that the Xbox Series X looks like a small-form-factor PC, because it does at least when its standing upright. Its monolithic design could be seen as uninspired. But I rather like the system’s clean and unfussy appearance. Its big, however.

Measuring 15.1 x 15.1 x 30.1 centimeters and weighing 9.8 pounds, the Series X is a rather bulky machine, though not as large as the PS5. This means youll struggle to fit it into an entertainment unit, unless you place the device on its side. Theres a quartet of soft pads on one side of the console to show you which way it should be positioned when lying sideways. These also prevent the console from slipping around.

I think the Xbox Series X looks a little clunky and clumsy on its side, a bit like the lovechild of an audio amplifier and a brick. I keep mine upright and sitting partially behind my TV, and it looks rather nice in that space, particularly as you can peer into the top vent of the console, which has some green accents around the holes towards the middle.

In fact, while it might look a little clunky peeking out from behind my TV, I think the Series X looks rather good sitting on a desktop. If you plan to plug the system into a 4K or high-refresh-rate monitor, you could be pleasantly surprised.

Xbox Series X Review: Ports

Keeping with the clean look, the Xbox Series X has only a USB 3.1 Type-A port and a Blu-ray disc drive on the consoles front. There’s also a wireless controller pairing button. That makes it very easy to quickly plug in a controller to charge, or an external hard drive to transfer games and saves to and from the Series X.

Around the back of the Series X, theres a much wider port selection. Youll find one HDMI 2.1 port: crucial for gaming at 8K, and allowing TVs with 120 Hz panels to take advantage of the 120 frames per second frame rate for certain games. There are also two more USB 3.1 ports – handy for external storage that you plan to keep connected to your console – as well as an Ethernet port and Kensington lock.

Theres no optical audio connection or HDMI-in port, like there were on the Xbox One and One X. However, dropping optical audio is likely to be a pain for only people with powerful audio systems, and the HDMI connection can still carry Dolby Atmos and surround sound signals. Were not really sure if many people used the HDMI-in, so dropping it from the Series X isnt a big deal. It also avoids any chance of plugging an HDMI cable into the wrong port, then wondering why your TV isnt getting a signal: something that’s happened to me before.

The most noteworthy port however, is the expansion slot. This is for the proprietary external PCIe 4.0 SSD that will let you expand the Series X with an extra 1 TB of speedy storage.

Xbox Series X Release Date, Size, Power details on ...

After many rumors and leaks, Microsoft confirmed in the middle of the night that the Xbox Series X wouldn’t be the only console launching in November. It was joined by the Series S, an all-digital system with “next-gen performance,” priced at a mere $299! The Xbox Series S launched on November 10th, 2020, alongside the Xbox Series X!

The news in August of 2020 that Halo Infinite would not be a launch title stung a lot for fans, but after the backlash of the graphics shown in the July stream, it seems it could be the right call. Among that news, Microsoft also published a blog post which confirms that the Xbox Series X is launching in November of 2020.

Things also got interesting in August of 2020 when images of a new controller leaked and revealed some new information. Specifically, the box has a sticker that says not to open or sell it before November 6, 2020. Take a look:

Xbox Series X may launch on November 6th. A tipster tells me boxes of the new controllers have a do not open date of November 6th on them. These controllers leaked earlier this week

Apparently some of these controllers went on sale by accident in Chicago, but no one has emerged to explain how that happened. Interestingly, people who managed to snag one of the controllers found out that the warranty, when registered, expires on November 5th, 2021, furthering speculation about an early November release date.
