Second Generation: Xbox 360
The Xbox 360 was released as the successor of the original Xbox in November 2005, competing with Sony‘s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo‘s Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles. As of June 2014, 84 million Xbox 360 consoles have been sold worldwide. The Xbox 360 was officially unveiled on MTV on May 12, 2005, with detailed launch and game information divulged later that month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo . The console sold out completely upon release in all regions except in Japan. Several retail configurations of the core Xbox 360 model were offered over its lifetime, varying the amount of RAM and internal storage offered.
The Xbox 360 showed an expanded Xbox Live service , the ability to stream multimedia content from PCs, while later updates added the ability to purchase and stream music, television programs, and films through the Xbox Music and Xbox Video services, along with access to third-party content services through third-party media streaming applications. Microsoft also released Kinect, a motion control system for the Xbox 360 which uses an advanced sensor system.
The second major revision of the Xbox 360 was the Xbox 360 E, released in 2013. It featured a case style similar to the upcoming Xbox One, and eliminated one USB port and the S/PDIF, YPbPr component and S-video connections, but otherwise shared the same specifications as the Xbox 360 S.
Kinect 20 And Smartglass
The camera- and microphone-laden Kinect, first introduced for the Xbox 360, gets some major improvements with Kinect 2.0, and you may be able to largely eschew physical controllers for menu and app navigation. On the previous console, you could use voice commands via the optional Kinect to select and run menu items that were displayed on the screen, and you can still do this on Xbox One using the “Xbox select” voice command. But Kinect 2.0 has been redesigned to be more intuitive and responsive, and a greater variety of commands have been integrated into the system. You can call many of them out at any time, with no need for menus.
When you first log in, the Xbox will use Kinect to create face and skeletal models of you which will be used to create your biometric ID in the system. After this is done, the console will recognize you and automatically sign you in when you walk into the room, bringing up your personalized home screen. For privacy reasons, your biometric information is only on your machine, not the cloud. If someone gives a command that requires login to an account, Kinect pinpoints where the voice came from and uses the biometric model to determine who is speaking.
You can say, “Xbox on,” to turn the console on, because when it’s off, it remains in standby mode listening for the on command. Kinect’s built-in IR blaster can even send signals to other devices attached to the Xbox One, such as your cable box and TV.

Second Screen And Streaming
The Xbox SmartGlassapp provides extended functionality on Xbox One, allowing devices running Windows Phone, Windows 8, iOS and Android to be used as a companion device for Xbox One features, such as powering on the console, a remote control, accessing messages and the Activity Feed, purchasing content, and providing integration with certain games and content. The SmartGlass app can also be used to stream live television to Android and Windows devices if the console is using a USB digital television tuner.
On Windows 10, SmartGlass is succeeded by the Xbox App, which supports the local streaming of games from Xbox One to personal computers and tablets running Windows 10. An Xbox One controller must be used, but Windows-compatible headsets and microphones can be used for voice chat. Games requiring Kinect are not supported, while Game DVR and online streaming are not available while using this functionality.
Per a partnership with Oculus VR, users will also be able to stream Xbox One games to the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset by means of Xbox app for Windows 10 as of 2015 there were no immediate plans for direct integration between Xbox One and Oculus Rift.
Will Among Us Come To Any Other Platforms
By the end of this year, Among Us will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S as well as Nintendo Switch, iPhone, Android devices and Windows 10 PC. That may seem like total market domination, but there are still a few other platforms that the developers from Innersloth could consider.
Theres no word yet, for example, on whether Among Us will ever come to Google Stadia. The game-streaming platform has a growing library of games, but Among Us is not yet one of them.
Furthermore, if you own an older Mac or Macbook, you may have already realised that Among Us is not available on your device of choice. Although Apple revealed last year that the iOS version of Among Us can run on 2020 versions of the Mac, older models of Apples computers do not support this feature. If you want to play Among Us on an old Mac, youll have to dabble in emulators to work around the issue.
For now, it seems like the PlayStation and Xbox ports are the priority projects for the team behind Among Us, but well be sure to let you know if any other platforms end up being confirmed.

Xbox Series X Ui And Dashboard
While the external design of the Xbox Series X is a considerable departure from its predecessors, the console’s UI and dashboard have undergone more subtle changes.
The Xbox Series X dashboard is pretty much the same as the Xbox Ones. The main reason for this is because Microsoft rolled out a meaty update to the Xbox One back in August 2020 to make its UI more streamlined, and to converge it with that of the Xbox Series X.
That means the Xbox Series X UI still has a tiled layout, with customizable pins, so you can choose which games and apps you want to see first on your home screen, and offers easy access to games, apps, party chat and other features via the Xbox button on your controller. It’s a pretty streamlined interface, and allows for plenty of customization options and easy navigation.
Customization seems to be at the heart of the Xbox Series X UI. In addition to being able to move around your pinned games and apps, Microsoft is also letting players express themselves a bit more with the inclusion of new profile themes that act as a background for your profile page. Players can also now finally use dynamic backgrounds, which offers a more personalized home screen option for those who are bored of the Xbox One’s static offering.

Celebrating 20 Years Of Xbox
Do you remember where you were when you played your first Xbox game?
It may be hard to believe, but this year will mark the 20th anniversary of Xbox. Im proud to have been a member of Team Xbox for 17 of those 20 years! The original Xbox console was released in North America on November 15, 2001, followed by many more launches all around the world including Japan, Australia, Europe, Latin America, China, and more!
Twenty years ago, playing on Xbox meant hooking up your console with three cables to a standard definition CRT TV. You had to pre-order the hottest new games and stand in line at your favorite retail shop to pick them up. Games were played in 640×480 resolution, and you only had 8GB of storage and 64MB of memory to enjoy them with. And you either played alone or with a friend sitting next to you on the couch.
Two Decades of Gaming
The Xbox experience today, as shaped by you, is wildly different. You can now jump into your favorite games on your Xbox Series X|S console , on PC, or on mobile*. You and your friends can play with and against the more than 100 million players who log into Xbox every month from around the world. And theres no more convincing every person in the group to go out and buy a big game. If you all have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you can pick the destination from a variety of games in the catalog and just start playing. We love this gaming future.

Formal Announcement And Release
The Xbox was officially unveiled to the public by Gates and guest professional wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at CES 2001 in Las Vegas on January 3, 2001. Microsoft announced Xbox’s release dates and prices at E3 2001 in May. Most Xbox launch titles were unveiled at E3, most notably Halo and Dead or Alive 3.
The unit’s release in November 2001 was partially hampered by the impact of the on travel, as Microsoft could not travel to the Guadalajara facility to help test units. They were able to arrange to ship the units locally instead of testing at Microsoft facilities to have them ready for launch.
The system was officially launched at midnight on November 15, 2001, three days before the subsequent launch of the Nintendo GameCube. A special event was held on the prior night as part of the grand opening of the flagship store of Toys ‘R’ Us at Times Square in New York City, in which 1,000 systems were shipped to the store to kick off sales. Bill Gates was present at the event, personally selling the first system and greeting people in line and playing games with them at the numerous display units present.
When Will Xbox Series X
Microsoft initially said that Xbox Series X|S stock would be “constrained through at least June,” but it’s looking like consoles will be in short supply all summer long. Microsoft hasn’t shared an update on the stock situation for several months, though, and Xbox shortages will likely continue for some time due to the global chip shortage. The widespread semiconductor shortage is affecting several different industries, including console production as well as cars and other tech. The shortage has been “steadily worsening since last year,” according to The Guardian, and shows no sign of improving right now.

Multimedia On Xbox Series X
The Series X also offers a range of multimedia features. For one, the console boasts a built-in 4K Blu-ray player thats simple to use.
You also have access to a range of streaming services: theres Netflix, , Disney Plus, and others that are available on existing Xbox One consoles, plus some that are new to the platform, including Apple TV Plus and region-specific apps such as Hulu in the US and Sky Go in the UK. All of these can take advantage of the console’s 4K UHD capabilities, although some require a decent internet connection.
While all the most popular entertainment apps are available, we did find that there are still some that we wish we had access to, such as ITV Hub and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
Is Xbox Game Pass Getting Among Us For Xbox
Before Xbox and Innersloth announced that Among Us was coming to Xbox, it was first revealed that Among Us was heading to Xbox Game Pass for PC. When Among Us makes the jump to Xbox consoles, it’ll absolutely be available through Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
The exact pricing information for Among Us for Xbox isn’t known, but it’ll probably cost the same $5 it does on PC and Switch. While this is pretty affordable, Among Us is also the perfect game for Xbox Game Pass: a casual and fun multiplayer game that some players may not have bought normally. This immediately opens Among Us to millions of additional players on Xbox consoles that are already subscribed to Xbox Game Pass.
It’s not known how long Among Us will be available through Xbox Game Pass, but games typically stick around for quite a while on Microsoft’s Netflix-like gaming subscription. Indie games like Among Us, especially, often remain available for a long time.
Xbox Game Pass includes hundreds of high-quality games, but Among Us may have a chance of joining our list of Best Games on Xbox Game Pass.
When Are The Fall Guys Xbox One And Nintendo Switch Release Dates
Fall Guys releases for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X in Summer 2021.
During the February 17 Nintendo Direct, Mediatonic and Devolver Digital confirmed that Fall Guys will come to Nintendo Switch in Summer 2021. Check out the trailer revealing this port below:
The next day, on February 18, 2021, Mediatonic took to Xbox Wire to confirm that the game will also come to Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S in Summer 2021.
While these ports weren’t announced until February 2021, the developers have made their plans very clear since the game’s launch. A page on the game’s support site directly referencing console ports states “to start with, Fall Guys will only be available on PS4 and Steam.” It goes on to mention that the team would “love to bring the game to other platforms further down the line,” but it did not give any release window.
When Fall Guys was announced at E3 2019, PC and PS4 were the only two platforms referenced in official press releases and trailers for the game. It appears that Mediatonic and Devolver Digital were focusing on getting out of the door on those two platforms first, and their efforts have clearly paid off.
On August 10, the developers confirmed in a press release that over 2 million players had bought Fall Guys on PC, and over 23 million hours of the game was watched on Twitch. This isn’t even accounting for how many of the millions PS Plus owners downloaded the game on PS4 because it is free during the month of August.
Where To Buy An Xbox Series X: Check Availability
In the meantime, you can check the Xbox Series X listings at major retailers as well as the latest restock news below. It could be a few weeks before you actually get the system once you order it, so keep that in mind when planning your downtime. As of now, you still can’t really find the console in retail stores without a pickup order. While you can more easily buy the Xbox Series X above MSRP in bundles or on reseller sites like StockX, we do recommend waiting to buy the new Xbox for its list price of $500.
