How About The 385 Older Xbox 360 Games That Were Updated To Work On The Xbox One

Xbox Series X Unboxing!

Yep! Xbox exec Mike Ybarra tweeted that Xbox 360 backwards compatibility is a go, meaning the growing library of patched Xbox 360 titles — including Alan Wake, Mass Effect and Red Dead Redemption — will work as well.

360 Backwards compatibility will of course work on Scorpio. #xbox

By the way, there are now 385 different Xbox 360 games that run on Xbox One. Full list here.

Plus, some original Xbox games are coming to Xbox One as well — though they’ll run in their original aspect ratio.

How Much Will The Xbox Series X Cost

The Series X’s price was also unveiled the same day its release date was announced. Microsoft’s premium console will cost $499 up-front or customers can opt for a payment plan and receive a number of other perks.

For 24 monthly payments of $35, gamers can get the Series X along with the Xbox All Access which comes with 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. That gives users access to a monthly catalog of free games that rotate every month. Microsoft seems keenly aware that the economic uncertainty brought on by the coronavirus pandemic will influence how much money customers have to spend on games and is trying to make even its priciest console as accessible as possible.

In a June 2020 interview with the BBC, Xbox chief Phil Spencer noted that he was well aware of how important a reasonable price point will be this year with the economic hardships that have befallen many people around the world because of the coronavirus pandemic.

” strategy is centered around the player, not the device,” he said. “We see the impact of people getting furloughed and layoffs. It’s tough. And we are a leisure activity. We’re not a requirement … So we want to be really tuned in to that as we launch. How can we make it as affordable as possible? How can we give buyers choice?”

This could very well pay off as polls indicate that the price of the Xbox Series X will be the most important factor when gamers are deciding between Microsoft’s next-gen console or the PS5.

Microsoft says the Xbox One X chip is packed with 7 billion transistors.

Everything New Is Old Again

Xbox One X review: A surprising amount of power in a very ...

Given the four years between the release of the first Xbox and the arrival of its successor, its no surprise that after six years rumors began circulating in March 2011 that the 360 was on its way out and Microsoft was already hard at work on its next console. The first set of reports surfaced on LinkedIn, where several designers and developers added vague descriptions of a mysterious new project they were working on with Microsoft. There was no stopping the Internet rumor train once it started chugging along, and before long the new console even had an unofficial code name: Xbox 720.

Even with the next-generation rumors, sales of the 360 continued to assert Microsofts powerful position in the console gaming industry, and by September 2012 the company announced that it had hit the 70-million mark in units sold, and by December that number had jumped to 75 million. Although the sales of the 360 trailed behind Nintendos Wii, which sold close to 100 million, it outsold the Ps3 by around 5 million. This news was followed a month later by the debut of Xbox Music and Xbox Video, Microsofts new media services that not only replaced the existing services on the Xbox but also offered an attractive, Apple-style integration across all devices running Windows software.

Will The One X Be Small And Cute Too

It’s small! Microsoft says it’s the smallest Xbox ever.

The Project Scorpio developer kit that Microsoft revealed earlier this year threw us off for a bit:

But in our side-by-side gallery , you can see that the final version is even a little bit smaller than the already-small Xbox One S. While it isn’t the smallest by much — it’s actually slightly wider and deeper — it’s shorter and thus very slightly smaller than the Xbox One S by volume.

So Which Should You Buy

Honestly: neither. You should look into picking up an Xbox Series S or a more powerful Xbox Series X. Both of these systems are in the next-generation console family for Xbox gaming, and are future-proofed for at least the next 5+ years. The Xbox One consoles will be sunset within the next two years, likely being cut off from future games.

If you absolutely are intent on getting an Xbox One console, and not a Series S/X console, the main issue here is whether or not you have a 4K television. There are gains to be had by using the Xbox One X with a 1080p set, but they will be nowhere near as pronounced as they would with a 4K display with HDR. I would argue that, unless you’re going to get a 4K TV or monitor shortly, that you could probably stick with an Xbox One S. However, as time has gone by, it feels like developers are increasingly prioritizing the development of the Xbox One X versions of their games. Many modern games run far worse on the Xbox One S. Even if you don’t have a 4K TV to enjoy the extra pixels, you’ll enjoy better performance across the board.

It all boils down to personal preference, but the Xbox One S is going to be the real bargain console for the remainder of the year. The X will compete for the hardcore audience against Sony’s less-powerful PlayStation 4 Pro and even some higher-end gaming PCs.

Xbox One X Hardware Specs

If youre looking to see the real differences between the Xbox One X and every other console thats come before it, all youd need to do is open the lid. It goes without saying, though, that this is no longer the console you want if you’re looking for a top-of-the-line machine in 2020.

The console comes equipped with an eight-core CPU clocked at 2.3GHz, alongside 12GB of GDDR5 RAM. It features a GPU clocked at 1172MHz leaving the console with 6 teraflops of graphical computing power. The specs in the Xbox One X are pretty extensive, and helped usher in a new era of 4K HDR gaming in the living room that the Series S and Series X will continue.

Unlike a video cards dedicated VRAM, the Xbox One Xs 12GB of RAM is split between the system and the GPU . So you can definitely buy a gaming PC that’s better than this especially in 2020.

On the CPU side, the Xbox One X is running a custom chip with eight Jaguar CPU cores clocked at 2.3GHz. Thats a 76% increase compared to the CPU inside the original Xbox One and Xbox One S, but probably only puts it in the ballpark of a current-gen Intel Core i3 processor .

The more important comparison for the Xbox One X specs, and the one Microsoft would rather you focus on, is those of the PS4 Pro. Both were released midway through the last generation, and each aims for 4K gaming, so they are directly comparable.

Xbox Series X: Design

Biggest Xbox Series X and Xbox One Exclusives Coming In 2020 So Far

Youd be forgiven for saying that the Xbox Series X looks like a small-form-factor PC, because it does at least when its standing upright. Its monolithic design could be seen as uninspired. But I rather like the system’s clean and unfussy appearance. Its big, however.

Measuring 15.1 x 15.1 x 30.1 centimeters and weighing 9.8 pounds, the Series X is a rather bulky machine, though not as large as the PS5. This means youll struggle to fit it into an entertainment unit, unless you place the device on its side. Theres a quartet of soft pads on one side of the console to show you which way it should be positioned when lying sideways. These also prevent the console from slipping around.

I think the Xbox Series X looks a little clunky and clumsy on its side, a bit like the lovechild of an audio amplifier and a brick. I keep mine upright and sitting partially behind my TV, and it looks rather nice in that space, particularly as you can peer into the top vent of the console, which has some green accents around the holes towards the middle.

In fact, while it might look a little clunky peeking out from behind my TV, I think the Series X looks rather good sitting on a desktop. If you plan to plug the system into a 4K or high-refresh-rate monitor, you could be pleasantly surprised.

What Is Project Xcloud

Project xCloud is the streaming platform that originally debuted back in March. Xbox boss Phil Spencer says the service would enable you to transform an Xbox console into an xCloud server , streaming games and media to connected devices. How robust this will be against, say, the initiative remains to be seen, but Microsoft definitely looks committed to leveraging its massive infrastructure and resources towards allowing gamers to play where they want, with who they want.

Xbox Series X Features And Specs

Microsoft revealed just about everything there is to know about the Xbox Series X in a March 16 Xbox Wirepost.

Here are other standout features that Spencer previously announced:

  • More comprehensivebackward compatibility than the PS5, including Xbox 360 and original Xbox games.
  • The Xbox will support ray tracing, a graphical rendering technique used by high-end gaming PCs that let games look more lifelike than ever.
  • Quick Resume will let gamers continue multiple games from where they last left off instantly, no lengthy loading screens required.
  • Dynamic Latency Input will supposedly further decrease any lag gamers might have experienced when using their wireless Xbox controllers.
  • Smart Delivery will let gamers buy a game once on any Xbox console and let them play it across the platforms without repurchasing it.
  • Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to play Series X games on their phone or tablet anywhere with a decent wi-fi network, revealed Spencer in a July 16 blog post.

Xbox Series X Restocks At Target

Microsoft pode fazer dois grandes eventos de revelação do ...

Target’s Xbox Series X restock strategy has changed pretty dramatically recently the retailer’s new policy is that the Xbox Series X and S can now be sold as soon as inventory is available, rather than waiting for set drop dates. This means we’re now seeing Xbox Series X availability nearly every day at Target–however, this is only for certain locations with stock extremely limited. As such, you should make sure your zip code is updated before checking availability at Target. Both Order Pickup and Drive Up will be available for online orders, but no in-store console purchases are allowed.

A New Toy And A New Look

In both 2009 and 2010, June proved to be an important month for the 360. First, the motion- and voice-control peripheral that would eventually become Kinect was announced in June 2009 at that years E3 convention. Originally labeled Project Natal , the device was expected to revolutionize the way 360 owners interacted with both their console and the media connected with it. The Kinect arrived on shelves in November of that year.

One year after the Kinect was announced, Microsoft announced that the Xbox 360 would be getting a major redesign, with a thinner body, upgraded internal specs, additional USB ports, and built-in Wi-Fi. The Xbox 360 S hit shelves a few days later on June 18, 2010.

The Xbox One X’s Headlining Features Though Are Its Support For 4k And Its Hdr Gaming At Up To 60 Frames Per Second If A Given Game Supports All Of That It Should Be Sharper Look More Lifelike And Run Smoother Than It Does On Other Consoles There Are A Few Things To Note Here Though

The most obvious is that you’ll need a TV that supports 4K or HDR playback in the first place ideally both.

From there, it’s worth reading our explainer about what exactly 4K and HDR do. In short, HDR is the more substantive upgrade. It can bring better contrast and more lively colors, which leads to a more compelling image.

The sharper resolution that comes with 4K is great if you have a big-enough TV or if you sit up close to a smallish TV or gaming monitor but it’s difficult to see those extra pixels if that panel is on the small side and your couch is far enough away.

If you can take advantage of the higher resolution, though, Microsoft is promising various games that will be built from the ground up to support 4K instead of using display-tech tricks to create the effect of a higher resolution, as the PS4 Pro sometimes does. Plus, it is easier to see the difference in smoothness when a game runs at 60 frames per second.

The point of the Xbox One X’s stronger hardware is to run this kind of high-spec game more consistently though it remains to be seen how capable it is of doing that.

To compare, the Xbox One S also supports 4K, but only through video streaming and Blu-rays, not gaming. It does support HDR10 games, however. It can also play up to 60 frames per second, technically speaking, but it can’t do everything at once the way the Xbox One X ostensibly can. It’s a less powerful console than the Xbox One X, and that affects a lot of other factors.

Enter The Xbox One S All

Microsoft has unveiled the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, it’s latest low-cost Xbox console. Doubling down on game downloads, the new console cuts $50 off entry-level Xbox one consoles by stripping down the console to its essential components and taking out the disc drive.

The Xbox One S All-Digital is primed for the modern online world, backed by Microsoft’s ever-growing integrated Microsoft Store for games, movies, TV, and more. Paired with Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s Netflix-style subscription service with over 100 games, the console is ideal for the convivence of digital landscape. While losing out on the benefits of physical media, it’s an overall promising addition filling a new hole in the Xbox lineup.

The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition retains a familiar white and black design, now streamlined without the drive and eject button. The console promises otherwise identical capabilities, including shared features, performance, games, and accessories with the existing Xbox One S from 2016. It merely acts as the latest entry-point into the Xbox gaming ecosystem, now at a lower price than ever before.

Xbox One X HDMI Out No Signal to TV

Again, we’ll have to see how well this works in testing. It’s unlikely to be a massive change, but visuals should be better with all that extra horsepower. For what it’s worth, the PS4 Pro can also visually improve some older games, but not all, as Microsoft is promising here.

Along these lines, Microsoft said earlier this year that several games including hits like “Rocket League,” “Minecraft,” and “Final Fantasy XV” would receive enhancement patches that add 4K support and general graphics upgrades to make use of the One X.

The company says that games optimized for the console in some fashion will carry an “Xbox One X Enhanced” logo. Microsoft lists about 100 titles as meeting this criterion at the moment, though it’s unclear how many will hit 60 frames per second, support HDR, and play in true 4K all at once.

At the same time, Microsoft hasn’t announced any specific virtual-reality support for the Xbox One X, whereas the PlayStation 4 works with Sony’s PlayStation VR headset. Support for VR is said to be coming at some point, but that’s all we know right now.
