When Can I Preorder The New Xbox

Don't Miss

What Times Do Retailers Offer Xbox Series X Restocks

New Pre-Orders, Games with Gold, and Updates | This Week on Xbox

While timings can differ, generally US retailers launch Xbox Series X restocks in the late morning / early afternoon ET. Best Buy typically drops at around 12pm ET / 9am PT, with GameStop offering earlier drops from 10.30am ET / 7.30am PT onwards. Walmart has stuck to a fairly rigid 3pm ET / 12pm PT launch schedule over the last few months, however. That means we’d recommend keeping your hunt up between the hours of 10am ET / 7am PT and 4pm ET / 1pm PT.

Over in the UK, however, Xbox Series X restocks typically land in the morning. Game is known to drop its stock before 9am, but sites like Ebuyer, AO, Argos, and The Game Collection aren’t too far behind, all dropping stock before midday in general.

How To Save On The Xbox Series X Price

The Xbox Series X price is still a hefty chunk of cash to spend. But you don’t necessarily have to pay it off in one go. Enter Microsoft’s fancy Xbox All Access system. This is a payment plan, and it allows you to get an Xbox Series X for a monthly fee spread over two years. It’ll set you back $34.99 per month in the US, £28.99p/m in the UK, and $46p/m in Australia.

Interestingly, Xbox All Access doesn’t just get you the console. It also offers 24 months of Game Pass Ultimate as well. Because Game Pass is a bit like Netflix for gaming , that’s a solid deal. Particularly due to the fact that new Xbox exclusive games like Halo will appear on Game Pass for free on the day of release.

Thanks to this, Xbox All Access might be one of the more sensible options when it comes to buying an Xbox Series X. Indeed, it saves you money in the long run. Sure, you’re only getting a small amount knocked off the overall price, but it’s still cheaper than buying the console and two years of Game Pass separately.

However, be advised that you won’t find Xbox All Access in many stores besides Microsoft. GameStop and Walmart fill that role in the US, and Game or Smyths have the honor in the UK.

Xbox Bundle Deals In Australia

Will Xbox Series X bundles appear over the next few months? There was already a Halo Infinite bundle , but that’s long sold out. Whether more stock will arrive ahead of the game’s December release is unknown, but if it does return we’ll let you know with an update at the top of this page. The Xbox Series X Halo Infinite bundle was AU$849, so pretty much the console, with an added AU$100 for the game.

So yeah: You shouldn’t expect big discounts when it comes to bundles, as stock is still rare. We don’t normally see price-drops in the early days of a console’s life-cycle, so Xbox Series X deals are probably going to be a similar price to buying the console and games separately. If anything, it’s more likely that retailers will slash prices on extras like Xbox Live Gold deals or a few free months of Xbox Game Pass.

With more first-party Microsoft games on the horizon, such as Senuas Saga: Hellblade 2, we may see more bundles, though don’t count on it for every title: Forza Horizon 5, for example, didn’t get one.

Update, July 27, 2022: Once again, EB Games is currently taking pre-orders for the Xbox Series X, with shipments expected mid-August. Pre-orders are limited to one per customer, and require a AU$200 deposit.

If you’re after an Xbox Series X in Australia, you’ll need a combination of determination and luck. During the first half of 2022 the Xbox Series X hasn’t been easy to buy, but things are definitely getting better than they were in 2021. As of early August, stock is dropping more and more frequently, with stock drops happening at least once a week so far throughout autumn. The Microsoft Store in particular has had the Series X available for longer than a fleeting 30 second window, and in late June, had it available for a matter of days in a row. That’s a positive.

Still, Microsoft is “working as hard as it can” to produce more Xbox Series X/S consoles, both systems sell out within moments of going live. In fact, many websites collapse under the weight of traffic. Considering the unexpectedly reasonable Xbox Series X price of AU$749, that shouldn’t be a surprise.

A positive reception overall has built up hype even more. Meanwhile, Phil Spencer said in late September that console shortages will continue into 2022.

Xbox Series Consoles Vs Playstation : What’s The Difference

Xbox Series X Problems & Fixes

Torn between the new Xbox Series consoles and Sonys new Playstation 5? Heres how they compare:

Gaming power: Both consoles come in regular and cheaper, digital-only models, but we’ll start with the fully loaded versions. The Xbox Series X and flagship Playstation 5 should perform roughly similarly in most games, since they’re running the same internal processors. Both consoles are adding fast solid-state drives for storage which will be a first for gaming consoles, dramatically limiting the need for loading screens.

Both consoles feature AMD Zen 2 processors and graphics cards that far outstrip their predecessors. Microsoft claims the Series X will offer 12 teraflops of graphics processing power, about twice what the current Xbox One X can do.

The Xbox Series X and both Playstation 5 consoles will support games at up to 4K resolution and 120 frames per second. Meanwhile, the $299 Xbox Series S has a less-powerful 4 teraflop GPU that purports to run games at 1440p resolution and 120 frames per second.

Because the underlying tech of both of the Xbox Series X and the $499 PS5 is actually quite similar, chances are the differences in gaming performance will come down to how well internal studios and third-party developers adapt to the new hardware.

Today a 1TB SSD costs around $100 or more, so this will be an important point for gamers that like to have lots of games installed at any one time.

What’s Included With The Halo Infinite Xbox Series X

The Xbox Series X first launched in Nov. 2020, but with ongoing global chip shortages throttling production, purchasing these latest-generation devices has proven challenging. That hasn’t stopped Microsoft from unveiling a limited-edition Halo Infinite-themed Xbox Series X bundle, doubling as the first custom variant of its best Xbox console.

The Halo Infinite Xbox Series X bundle costs $550 for the 1TB console with a custom controller. It swaps out the all-black casing for metallic black and grey, coupled with space-themed detailing and gold accents drawing inspiration from its sci-fi setting. The design references the mysterious Forerunner structures that dominate the Halo landscapes and star-speckled skies, which according to Microsoft, reflect views from the Zeta Halo ring. The device also has a blue-tinted fan, a nod to its iconic AI companion, Cortana, and custom sounds when booting up the console.

The limited-edition Halo Infinite bundle includes the Xbox Series X and an accompanying Xbox wireless controller mirroring the console design. This exclusive gamepad differs from the Xbox Elite Controller, building upon the new Xbox Series X|S controller, featuring a dedicated Share button and improved directional pad. Buyers will also receive a digital code for Halo Infinite an HDMI 2.1-compatible “Ultra High Speed” HDMI cable that supports 4K resolutions up to 120Hz refresh rates.

Xbox Series X Vs Xbox Series S

For starters, both the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S are new consoles from Microsoft. They’ll run the latest games now and into the future, marking a new generation similar to Sony’s Playstation 5 moving on from the Playstation 4.

The naming is a bit confusing, but both of these are going to be more powerful and future-proof compared to the previous generation, including the Xbox One S and the Xbox One X. Most games in the near future will still come out for the older consoles, but if you want the new Xbox, you want either the “Series X” or the cheaper “Series S” models.

The Xbox Series S has a few key distinctions from its flagship sibling. While the Xbox Series X can run physical or digital game copies, the Xbox Series S can only run downloaded games. This means you’ll have no physical games to mess with, but you also won’t ever be able to sell your games once you’re done with them.

Xbox Series X Deals On Accessories

The Xbox Series X price might make you wince, but the console’s got one major advantage you may not have considered – backward compatibility for accessories and games.

After paying for a console, you’d normally have to factor in costs for games along with new controllers, subscriptions, and whatever extras the publishers are pushing. But with any Xbox Series X bundles, all of your existing Xbox One peripherals and services are forwards compatible. That means your achievements, progression, controllers, memberships, and Xbox One headsets move forward to Series X. The console also lets you play older Xbox One games via both the optical disc drive and digital download, not to mention Game Pass. That allows you to save a couple of hundred dollars right off the bat – you don’t need to buy specific ‘next-gen’ versions of a game, as they’re usually the same.

Its designed to play games in 4K at up to 120fps , and will offer better graphics than both the Xbox Series S and Sonys PlayStation 5. Xbox Series S: A Digital Gateway

How To Preorder Games On Xbox 2021 (& 2022)

The Xbox Series S will primarily act as a digital gateway for both Microsofts game-streaming service, Project xCloud, and its ever-growing Xbox Game Pass service .

Xbox Cloud gaming aims to leverage Microsofts existing data centers across the globe, literally loading up servers with the component parts of multiple Xbox One consoles, and using these to run the games streamed directly to your mobile device of choice, thought it’s only available on Android devices for now.

This means that gamers will be able to play the likes of Halo Infinite, Forza and other classic console and PC big hitters on their phones, tablets or Windows 10 computers.

Meanwhile, Xbox Game Pass is essentially a Netflix for games, allowing subscribers to access lots of Xbox games digitally. The service has grown massively since its launch in 2017, boasting over 10 million subscribers.

Services such as Xbox Cloud gaming and Xbox Game Pass prove that physical discs aren’t always necessary, with Microsoft offering plenty of content for those who choose to go digital-only. Xbox Series S will undoubtedly take this initiative into the next generation, proving that these services alone can support a next-gen console.
