On your computer, download the ‘Xbox Console Companion’ app. It’s worth noting that this is different than the ‘Xbox’ app. Once you have it, choose the ‘Connections’ tab from the sidebar it’s second from the bottom and uses a minimalistic picture of an Xbox console.
Clicking it will prompt the app to look for local Xboxes to connect with. Choose yours from the menu that comes up! Note that it will only appear as long as your Xbox and your computer are using the same WiFi network.

1. Small Screen
The beauty of Xbox Remote Play is that you can play on something you can carry around with you. However, the trade-off is that youre playing on a much smaller screen. While it isnt really that big of a deal with some players, it does affect how visually impressive the games are.
2. Battery Life
Another downside to playing on mobile is that it can suck your batterys life out. When youre playing on your Xbox console thats hooked up to your TV, you dont have to worry about running out of juice youre plugged into a power source anyway. But its a whole different story when it comes to gaming on mobile. The battery life of some smartphones is 11 to 18 hours, but it really varies depending on which phone you have. And it will be significantly less when youre gaming. So make sure youve got your charger or a power bank with you when you play your Xbox games on the go.

Lastly, Xbox Remote Play can be quite costly, especially when you opt for their cloud gaming service. An Xbox Game Pass subscription for PC and console costs $9.99 per month. On the other hand, a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, which is what youll need to play on mobile, costs $14.99 per month.
Connect An Xbox Controller
Remote play is exactly like using your console in the regular way, it’s just streamed through a secondary device. This means that touch controls won’t work, so you’ll need to pair your iPhone or iPad with a controller.
There are plenty of unofficial pads that do the job, but to get the best experience, it’s better to use an official one. To connect an Xbox Controller, you’ll first need to ensure your device’s Bluetooth is on and searching. To do this, head to Settings > Bluetooth, then switch it on.
Next, turn on your pad, then hold the connect button to the top of the pad until the light at the front flashes. The two devices should then automatically connect.
If you’re using your home Wi-Fi to play in a different room and usually use the pad with an Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X console, you might find this also automatically switches on the console, so keep an eye out for that.

On both iPads and PCs, performance was often stuttery and slow, the visuals would break up into digital noise and my controller inputs felt thrown off by too much delay. Even with a solid internet connection, the experience varied wildly. The most disappointing thing is just how much loading screen wait time there was within games.
