Silent Hill : The Room

Silent Hill 4: The Room released in 2004 on the Playstation 2 as a major departure from the original three games. What immediately set this iteration apart was the fact that the protagonist, Henry Townsend, literally finds himself chained into his apartment.

What makes this game so unique, as well as divisive, was the fact that as Henry, you return to your apartment hub area many times throughout the game. These sections also played out in a first-person perspective, a first for the series.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories originally released back on the Nintendo Wii in 2009 with a Playstation 2 and PSP port in 2010. This entry in the series took quite a different approach to gameplay with some sections where you must answer psychological questions which shape the game and its outcome.

Many fans of the series were skeptical of Shattered Memories because many of its gameplay sections were comprised of running away from monsters through pre-determined corridors. Fortunately, this innovation was well-received along with the dark story centering around Harry Mason.

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved

It’s fair to say that the Geometry Wars had one of the strangest starts to life in gaming history. The first Geometry Wars title wasn’t a standalone game, nor part of a collection, it was a mini-game that could be accessed via an arcade machine within the player’s garage in the racing game Project Gotham Racing 2.

Although Project Gotham Racing 2 was one of the original Xbox’s best racing games, many people found themselves ignoring the racing aspect of the game to just focus on Geometry Wars. Unsurprisingly, Microsoft Game Studios capitalized on this and released Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved on Xbox 360 in 2005.

Telltale’s The Walking Dead

From a gameplay standpoint, The Walking Dead may appear weak when viewed next to the likes of Street Fighter and Arkham City. Most of the actual action centers around relatively simple puzzles and average QTEs. But if it’s so plain, why do we feel such intense emotions when playing all five episodes of this deceptively simple title? Because the games storytelling makes almost every other title seem childish by comparison.

The Walking Dead captures the feeling of the comics brilliantly, taking you through a number of heart-wrenching choices that have no obvious solution. Life-or-death scenarios crop up when you least expect them, and you feel so taxed by them because the writing makes you so heavily invested in your friends survival. The games continual conversations make you more connected to these fictional NPCs than many living people you know, which makes it that much more painful when you have to choose who dies next. If The Walking Dead can pull that off, who cares if the shooting is shoddy or the puzzles wont exactly tax your grey matter.

South Park: The Stick Of Truth

Developers had tried and failed for years to adapt the South Park animated series into something worth playing, with racing games, shooters, and even dance games among the botched attempts. But it was Obsidian that finally realized the secret to a good South Park game is embracing the shows simple animation, and with South Park: The Stick of Truth, the studio perfectly captured the look of the show, complete with all the gross humor we have come to expect.

The Stick of Truth is more than just a faithful adaptation, however. Its a wonderful role-playing game, with old-school turn-based combat and classes inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien, mixed with plenty of crazy elements youll only find in a South Park game. In 2017, The Fractured but Whole premiered as a sequel and came with a free additional copy of The Stick of Truth.

Silent Hill: Hd Collection

Silent Hill: HD Collection came out in 2021 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 to less than stellar critical and fan reception. While the idea of playing Silent Hill 2 and 3 in HD graphics was tantalizing, this collection, unfortunately, took what made the original game’s limitation, namely, the fog, and removed it altogether.

The fog was used in the Playstation 1 and 2 games to mask hardware limitations but it also added to the spooky factor. This was sadly removed and it took away part of what made the series so iconic in the first place.

Popular Xbox 360 Game Made Free For Limited Time

A popular Xbox 360 game is now free for a limited time, courtesy of Xbox Live Gold. The Xbox 360 is the best generation for Xbox so far. Not only is it the best-selling Xbox console to date by some margin, but it’s the only Xbox console to give its PlayStation counterpart — in this case, the PS3 — a run for its money. The Xbox Series X|S look poised to replicate this success this generation against the PS5, but right now it’s too early to make any calls. If the pair of Xbox Series consoles are going to be as popular as the Xbox 360, they will need great exclusive games like the Xbox 360 had.

Many of the great Xbox 360 games actually came courtesy of Xbox Live Arcade, like Orcs Must Die, which is currently available for free if you have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, at least in North America. Normally the game costs $15, so this represents a decent bit of savings.

As for the game itself, it was made by Robot Entertainment and debuted back in 2011 via the Xbox 360. Since then, it’s only come to PC, remaining an Xbox console exclusive. Upon release, depending on the platform, it garnered a 79 or 83 on Metacritic, and went on to create a series consisting of several games.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012, also known as World Soccer: Winning Eleven 2012 in Asia, is a simulation sports video game developed and published by Konami. This game is the eleventh game to come out of the Pro Evolution Soccer series. It was licensed by UEFA to utilize the teams under the administration’s umbrella.

This appealing soocer romp was also released on other various platforms such as PC, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360, and Wii, among others. The game was met with mixed to positive reception upon release. Many players – football fans in particular – praised its decent graphics and enjoyable gameplay that’s both nuanced and exciting.

The Last Games From Every Classic Console Of The Last 30 Years

12:16, 30 March 2020 BST| Last updated 12:17, 30 March 2020 BST

We all had that one console that made us, right? That got us into these video game things, that we couldn’t wait to get home from school to play, that we unplugged and took with us on crappy, damp caravan holidays on the south coast. And we all had our favourite games on those consoles – be they Mario or Sonic, Spyro or Splinter Cell, Street Fighter or SimCity, a kick ’em up or a shoot ’em down.

But just as every one of these beloved systems ultimately faded into history, superseded by the next generation of shiny graphics and stereo sound, fancy polygons and controllers with sticks, they also took one final game down with them. No matter the mascot, the manufacturer, the units sold or the playground wars battled, every console has that last game, that’ll always have its place in history, no matter how awful it is.

And trust me, some of the games below are pretty terrible.

What follows are the final, officially licensed games for the main, most-loved consoles from the third generation through to the last one, encompassing the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. Which is to say that we’ve not counted more recent, home-brew releases for them . What’s surprising: despite our initial expectations, the vast majority of these games aren’t annual sports titles.

Crash Time : Undercover: $17 $38

Xbox 360 My 5 Top Video Games! The Last Game Hunter

The Crash Time games are based on a German TV show called Alarm für Cobra 11 which is still running even now, twenty five years after the first episode aired.

Yet Alarm für Cobra 11 is barely known outside its native Germany. The games based on the series have been rebranded as Crash Time in other countries.

Just as the series its based on seems to be endlessly popular and long-running, the game series also seems to keep churning out new material.

Almost certainly due to the rebrand to a more generic title and the relatively low interest the series receives when shorn of its license, Crash Time 5: Undercover is a title that was released with little fanfare and a low print run.

The title is highly sought after though, with the value remaining high despite the games not-exactly-stellar critical reception.

My Horse & Me : $89 $110

Horse riding is a pursuit often neglected in video games. Still, its sometimes deeply interwoven into the gameplay of titles where it isnt the main focus (The Witcher 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time being two good examples.

The My Horse & Me titles had a strong focus on taking care of the animal in your stable. It also revolved around riding and competing in equestrian events as youd expect.

This particular game was subject to a small print run and low availability at the time of release, which has definitely made it one of the most rare Xbox 360 games.

At £75-£110, its another game thats secretly worth a fortune.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2013

Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 is the 12th installment in the series. The game itself was rather loved for its improved AI, better gameplay, and a wider range of roster picks to choose from. Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 was the first game in the series to utilize all 20 teams from the Brazilian national league.

This title released on September 25, 2012. It was the last game in the franchise to be released for the PS2 in North America. Unfortunately, in today’s gaming zeitgeist, FIFA seems to have a monopoly when it comes to soccer games.

Call Of Duty : Modern Warfare

Here are the free games youâll get on Xbox One and Xbox 360 in May â BGR

The most important Call of Duty game of all time is also the one that put the series back on the sales-conquering map. Without it? There would probably be no COD Warzone. Its strange to think, but back in 2007, Modern Warfare was a bit of an underdog. With the eyes of the gaming world squarely focused on Halo 3, COD 4 came out of seemingly nowhere and instantly reinvigorated the series that people thought of as the slightly tired World War 2 one. Modern Warfare changed all perceptions about Call of Duty. Backed by a magnificently mustached Captain Price, an excellent multiplayer mode, and an iconic, drum-tight campaign that riffed on contemporary war films like Behind Enemy Lines, Call of Duty 4 was an instant classic. 15 years later, and its still the Call of Duty no other franchise entry can touch.

Dead Of The Brain 1 & 2

For some of you, the PC Engine – also known as the TurboGrafx-16 in the US – was only ever an exotic mystery. This NEC-made machine, which claimed to be the first 16-bit console , was a big hit in Japan where it outsold the NES/Famicom upon its launch in 1987. But its roll-out elsewhere was strictly limited. Units arrived in France, but if you were growing up in the UK, like me, the PC Engine remained an import-only extravagance that forever remained in listings only – I never played one at all until I was into my 30s.

That can, and will, change soon, as the PC Engine Mini releases later this year in the UK. It’s a cracking little thing , packed with a load of games that players of the ’80s and ’90s could mostly only read about, and never experience for themselves. It stands to be one of the best mini-consoles on the market – but Dead of the Brain 1 & 2 will not feature, amongst its 57 built-in games.

Which isn’t the end of the world – but at the same time, this collection of two Dead of the Brain games isn’t half bad. These are horror-themed graphic adventure games, kind of digital comics, featuring monsters and murders , and lashings of gore. Early on in the first game, you have to shoot your cat – I mean, what’s not to like? The downside? They’re only in Japanese. Though that’s not stopped Hideo Kojima’s best game, Snatcher, from showing up on the PC Engine Mini.
