Xbox Play And Charge Kit
Buying new batteries is a drag, and this simple kit will allow you to do away with AA batteries for good. Much like its predecessors on older Xbox consoles, this pack plugs into the back of your controller to provide power for even the longest of gaming sessions, and recharges when plugged in via USB-C. A single kit will cost $24.99. This sounds expensive, but if you think about how many batteries youd have to buy over the years, its worth it.
So Which Should You Buy
Honestly: neither. You should look into picking up an Xbox Series S or a more powerful Xbox Series X. Both of these systems are in the next-generation console family for Xbox gaming, and are future-proofed for at least the next five-plus years. The Xbox One consoles will be riding off into the sunset within the next two years, likely being cut off from future games.
If you absolutely are intent on getting an Xbox One console, and not a Series X/S console, the main issue here is whether or not you have a 4K television. There are gains to be had by using the Xbox One X with a 1080p set, but they will be nowhere near as pronounced as they would be with a 4K display with HDR. I would argue that, unless you’re going to get a 4K TV or monitor shortly, you could probably stick with an Xbox One S. However, as time has gone by, it feels like developers are increasingly prioritizing the development of the Xbox One X versions of their games. Many modern games run far worse on the Xbox One S. Even if you don’t have a 4K TV to enjoy the extra pixels, you’ll enjoy better performance across the board. Seriously though, at this point, you should just grab an Xbox Series S at the very least.
It all boils down to personal preference, but the Xbox One S is going to be the real bargain console for the remainder of the year. The X will compete for the hardcore audience against Sony’s less-powerful PlayStation 4 Pro and even some higher-end gaming PCs.

Xbox Series X Review: Performance
There are now more Xbox Series X optimized games than there were at launch, showcasing what the 12 teraflops of graphics power can do when its applied to patched games, both old and new.
One of the standout titles is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. While not a Xbox Series X exclusive it’s a game with impressive visuals and graphics setting, and is best played on new games console hardware. When it first launched on the Xbox Series X its performance left something to be desired as there were frame rate drops, some screen tearing and an overall performance profile that didn’t stand up to the PS5 version.
But after a major patch, the game runs a lot more smoothly on the Xbox Series X. It targets 60 frames per second, and in my experience mostly reaches that. But it uses a dynamic resolution, which can scale from 4K down to 1440p when there’s a lot of action on the screen. So its not delivering a true 100% native 4K experience.
Maybe its a testament to the quality of the upscaler in my 4K TV, but I can’t really tell when there was a resolution drop. And for a game that looks as good as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, its impressive that a $500 box is pumping out crisp visuals and a steady frame rate similar performance on a PC would require an investment of at least $1,000.
Gears 5 is one title that has been given the full Xbox Series X optimization treatment. That means it can run at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, or 120 fps if you have a compatible TV.
You Can Still Play Your Old Gamesand Theyll Look Better
If you want to get the new system but dont see many new games youre interested in, virtually all of your old games will work on the new consoles. The Xbox Series X and Series S offer nearly blanket backward compatibility, meaning that your existing libraries of Xbox Onecompatible software will run on the Xbox Series X and Series S. Whats more, every Xbox Onecompatible piece of software will, according to Microsoft , run and look better on these new systems than it did on previous-generation consoles. The Auto HDR feature, which uses an algorithm to tweak a games picture to take advantage of modern televisions ability to show brighter images with better contrast, leads to a beautiful new sense of vibrance in games like Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. There are a few games where this feature results in image quality that looks a little funny, but it can be disabled on a per game basis.
Microsoft also offers FPS Boost for selected titles, the official term for a proprietary software technique that allows the Xbox Series consoles to effectively double the targeted framerate of backwards compatible games without the need for official patches from the original developer. For some games, this means 60 FPS or thereabouts for the first time on consoles. For others, it means 120 FPS with supported televisions.

What Is The Difference Between The Minecraft Java Edition And The Bedrock Edition
Different Minecraft versions have different capabilities when it comes to multiplayer gaming. When it comes to Minecraft Xbox One Edition vs Bedrock, the former is more flexible overall but does not support cross-play with players on other platforms.
Bedrock players, on the other hand, can connect with players on any other platform that uses the Bedrock edition. So, for example, a player on a PC could connect with someone playing Minecraft on PS4, Xbox Series X, or Switch.
However, the Java Edition generally provides a better multiplayer experience, due to larger servers and more custom game options.
2. Command and Redstone
Redstone circuits and programming commands differ between the two versions of Minecraft. In general, commands and Redstone functions are more complex and versatile in the Java Edition.
The Bedrock Edition doesnt support all Redstone circuits, and some commands are not available. For example, its not possible to input the /give command for custom items in the Bedrock Edition.
3. Control and Interface
Expert Tip: Some PC issues are hard to tackle, especially when it comes to corrupted repositories or missing Windows files. If you are having troubles fixing an error, your system may be partially broken. Second Generation: Xbox 360
The Xbox 360 was released as the successor of the original Xbox in November 2005, competing with Sony‘s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo‘s Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles. As of June 2014, 84 million Xbox 360 consoles have been sold worldwide. The Xbox 360 was officially unveiled on MTV on May 12, 2005, with detailed launch and game information divulged later that month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo . The console sold out completely upon release in all regions except in Japan. Several retail configurations of the core Xbox 360 model were offered over its lifetime, varying the amount of RAM and internal storage offered.
The Xbox 360 showed an expanded Xbox Live service , the ability to stream multimedia content from PCs, while later updates added the ability to purchase and stream music, television programs, and films through the Xbox Music and Xbox Video services, along with access to third-party content services through third-party media streaming applications. Microsoft also released Kinect, a motion control system for the Xbox 360 which uses an advanced sensor system.
The second major revision of the Xbox 360 was the Xbox 360 E, released in 2013. It featured a case style similar to the upcoming Xbox One, and eliminated one USB port and the S/PDIF, YPbPr component and S-video connections, but otherwise shared the same specifications as the Xbox 360 S.

Xbox Series X Vs Series S Vs Ps5
The difference in power generally means early Series S and Series X games run at different resolutions but often perform similarly. For example, Watch Dogs: Legion targets 4K at 30fps on the Series X and 1080p 30fps on the Series S, and both support ray-tracing for better-looking reflections.
Similarly, Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon run at 60fps at 1080p on the Series S, compared to 4K 60fps on the Series X.

Better Virtual Desktop Support
You’ll find it easier to create and toggle between different virtual desktops in Windows 11 than in Windows 10.
Windows 11 lets you set up virtual desktops in a way that’s similar to on a Mac. It allows you to toggle between multiple desktops at once for personal, work, school or gaming. In Windows 10, this feature was harder to set up and use.

Is The New Xbox Backward Compatible With Older Games
The Xbox Series X and Series S are backward compatible with all but a handful of Xbox One titles which were based around the no longer supported Kinect sensor. The Series X and Series S will also play the hundreds of Xbox 360 and Xbox titles that Microsoft made the Xbox One backward compatible with as well. Almost all backward-compatible titles will have a variety of graphical enhancements.

Raw 4K power
The Xbox One X was the most powerful games console until the Xbox Series X and Series S came out, running the latest games with the crispest, detailed visuals on TV sets with 4K HDR support.
- 4K media apps, Blu-ray discs, and games
- IR blaster for TV controls, Amazon Echo for voice controls
- Improved HDD speeds for faster loading times
- More expensive at around $500 RRP, often used
- Requires a 4K TV to get the most out of it
- Price is fluctuating massively due to short supplies
The Xbox One S is a sleek and sexy game console with several media features, including all your favorite entertainment apps and a 4K Blu-ray player to boot. The only downside is that it won’t be able to run the 4K versions of the latest games.
- 4K media apps and Blu-ray
- IR blaster for TV controls, Amazon Echo for voice controls
- More affordable at around $300 RRP, often used
- Games run worse, even on a 1080p TV
- Price is fluctuating massively due to short supplies
Ultimately the battle between the Xbox One S and One X boils down to whether you have a 4K TV to go with it. If you have a 4K television or monitor, an Xbox One X will provide the best visuals the video game industry has to offer outside of a high-end gaming PC. Even on 1080p sets, many games support Xbox One X-exclusive 60 FPS modes, but you’ll be paying a premium for the privilege.

Which Xbox Series Console Should I Buy
A couple of factors to consider when choosing which of the newest Xbox consoles to buy are price and availability. Your preferred Xbox Series console will largely come down to your budget and / or willingness to wait on new stock.
That’s because the Xbox Series X is often fairly difficult to come by, thanks in large part to the ongoing global chip shortages that aren’t just affecting availability of Xbox Series X and PS5, but also PC graphics cards and servers needed for online games.
Even if you do have an easy time finding Xbox Series X stock, its higher price tag is another matter. At $499 / £449, it’s certainly the more premium of Microsoft’s two current-gen machines.
The Xbox Series S is a good deal cheaper at $299 / $249, making it a fantastic option if you want an easier way to explore the Xbox ecosystem, and get access to services like the fantastic Xbox Game Pass. The Xbox Series S, by and large, is also much easier to buy thanks to a more reliable level of availability at online retailers.
Now that you understand which Xbox is the newest, and how to differentiate the Xbox Series X/S from the older Xbox One line-up of consoles, you should be better prepared to make an informed purchase on the right Xbox model for you or your gift recipient.
Remember that while Microsoft retains its X/S naming convention usage, the key signifier here is the use of “Series” over “One” – with the former nomenclature representing the newest and best that the Xbox brand has to offer.

Microsofts Two New Consoles
This week, Microsoft released its two new Xbox consoles. Theres the $499 Xbox Series X, and a cheaper $299 Xbox Series S. You can read our reviews of both of them by following the links below.
Its not unusual for console manufacturers to offer a couple of different hardware options at launch, but normally, the differences are minor. The PS3, for example, was initially available in two models. There was a version with a 60GB hard drive as well as a cheaper version with a smaller 20GB hard drive, no Wi-Fi support, and fewer ports. Meanwhile, Microsoft also originally sold a Core version of the Xbox 360 in 2005, which included compromises like including a wired rather than wireless controller and omitting a hard drive.
The differences between the Xbox Series S and Series X are more substantial and have a big impact on how games look. While Microsoft says the Series X is targeting running games at 60fps at a full 4K resolution, the Series S instead targets a lower 1440p resolution at 60fps. Its a big power disparity, similar to what we saw between the Xbox One and the Xbox One X, but this time, the two consoles were available on day one, rather than releasing years apart.
The Xbox Series X comes complete with a disc drive.Microsofts Series S is less powerful and digital-only.

Which Xbox Is The Newest
Microsoft has not one, but two Xbox consoles that currently serve as its latest models – the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Note the reusing of the X/S naming convention, as was the case with the Xbox One’s follow-up models. In this case, though, there is no “base” Xbox Series console to worry about.
Both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S were launched on the same day in late 2020, technically making them both the newest Xbox console on the market. There are many key differences that set the consoles apart, however, so buying the right model for you will come down to a number of factors.
The easiest way to tell the consoles apart is in appearance. As unlike the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition, it’s actually very easy for a casual observer to tell apart the newest Xbox consoles at a glance. The Xbox Series X is a large black cuboid, featuring an optical disc drive on the front of the unit. You might think it looks a bit like a mini fridge, and so does Microsoft, as the company actually launched an Xbox Series X mini fridge to capitalize on the jokes surrounding its appearance.
The Xbox Series S is a much sleeker model. It’s the brand’s smallest console to date, featuring a clean, matte white finish and a smaller rectangular build.
