Why Is Xbox More Popular Than Playstation In The Us
According to recent findings from GamingSmart, the PlayStation 5 is in the lead with a 65% market share on the gaming market compared to the Xbox Series X/S with just under 35%. However, if you break those figures down to specific regions, the Xbox has nudged ahead in the USA with a 50.18% market share against PlayStation’s 49.8%. It’s a knife-edge margin, but the figures speak for themselves that the Xbox Series X/S is technically more popular in the Land of Hope and Glory.
In general, there’s been an uptick in popularity for Microsoft as the latest Xbox is a vast improvement on its predecessors. In 2018, the Xbox One apparently held less than 30% of the gaming market, meaning a 5% increase in just two years is pretty impressive. Even though the Xbox brand is growing, it remains to be seen whether it will ever be able to match Sony’s global domination with the PlayStation.
Looking a little closer at why the Xbox could be outselling PlayStation in the USA, the general consensus is the fact Microsoft is an American company and has a larger profile in the USA when compared to Sony’s Japanese heritage. It’s also important to remember Microsoft’s assault on the gaming world as it tries to create a monopoly of acquisitions. The recent purchase of ZeniMax Media is a huge deal and will now see Bethesda fall under Microsoft’s reign with franchises including DOOM, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls.

Pro Xbox One: Game Sharing Is Easy On Xbox One
Microsoft doesnt exactly condone game sharing, but they havent condemned it either. On Xbox, it is very easy to give a friend access to your game collection while youre not using it. Once youre logged into an Xbox One, everyone on that console can play your games. The system automatically creates a new cloud save per account and even lets you earn achievements. On PlayStation, you need to use the license owner’s account to play games purchased on it, which means if you ever do decide to buy that game youll have to start from square one. Xbox users can go a step further by setting up a different machine as their home console, which lets every other account on that Xbox have access to their licenses even if they arent logged in perfect for families.

Shadow Of The Colossus
Shadow of the Colossus is a game that I’ve played a lot over the years. It’s out of the ordinary and it has an ominous tone throughout the game. You aren’t given much of an objective, except to defeat the colossus beasts that roam the land.
Each colossus that you face features unique challenges and ways to defeat them, giving you a sense of pride upon defeating each boss. The game isn’t incredibly long, but it is definitely worth playing if you like Legend of Zelda like gameplay and huge bosses that you can climb around on.
There are others as well, including some indie titles, but these are popular games for both systems. As you can see, PlayStation has done a great job at maintaining a relatively diverse selection of thriving exclusives, some of which have been around for generations and have been some of the cornerstones of PlayStation’s success.
Microsoft, by comparison, does not have a ton to offer aside from the Halo series, although Halo is a great series of games and almost makes an Xbox worth the cost just for the franchise. Ultimately though, Sony wins out here by fostering loyal relationships with developers and maintaining great games, along with the cross-platform classics like the Elder Scrolls series, Call of Duty, Minecraft and more.
Xbox Series X Vs Playstation : Price And Availability In 2021
Both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X retail for $499 in the U.S., albeit with a cheaper PlayStation 5 Digital Edition in production, which cuts the price to $399. Budding Xbox owners wanting to save on next-generation gaming will need to consider Xbox Series S, which delivers much of the same but targeting HD TVs over 4K resolution. But the biggest challenge right now is their availability, with limited stock dominating the conversation around these devices.
The new Xbox and PlayStation consoles are hard to find in early 2021, with limited supply and record demand fostering a challenging landscape for buyers. Recent restocks continue to sell out in seconds, with a thriving resell market valuing the consoles with high price markups. That’s expected to continue throughout the year, only worsened by current world events.
Xbox Series X
Xbox Series X is Microsoft’s new flagship, as its most powerful console with over 12TF GPU performance and a custom SSD. It boasts up to 4K resolution and 120 FPS, full backward compatibility across four generations, and ray-tracing support.

Xbox One Vs Ps: Performance And Graphics
If you’re concerned about nuts and bolts, the starting versions of both consoles have an 8-core x86-64 AMD Jaguar processor with 8GB of RAM, an AMD Radeon GPU and a 500GB hard drive.
While games generally look and play great on both systems, PS4 has the edge in terms of resolution. For example, according to IGN’s database, games such as Batman: Arkham Knight and Shadow of Mordor all run at full 1080p on PS4, while Xbox One gamers have to settle for 900p on those titles. If getting the best possible crispness for most games is a priority, PS4 comes out on top.
However, when it comes to the premium versions of both consoles, Xbox has an edge. The $499 Xbox One X plays many titles in native 4K, and has the most powerful overall specs of any console out there. The $399 PS4 Pro technically plays games in 4K, but the experience is oftentimes upscaled rather than true 4K. Folks with HDR-ready TVs should also consider High Dynamic Range support, which allows for richer colors and better brightness. The Xbox One X, Xbox One S, PS4 Pro and standard PS4 all support HDR, though the list of HDR-enabled games varies by console.
Winner: PS4. Games look stunning on both systems, but the stock PS4 offers better resolution for many titles.

Xbox One Vs Ps4 Sales Figures
In March 2016, games company EA estimated that the Xbox One and the PS4 have sold a combined 60 million units worldwide. Considering that Sony had reported 36 million units a couple of months before that, it was estimated that a little over 20 million units of the Xbox One had been shipped as of March 2016.
As of January 2016, PlayStation 4 sales have reached 35.9 million units worldwide, with 5.7 million units sold in the December 2015 holiday season.
In late November 2015, the Wall Street Journal reported that Sony had sold over 30 million units of the PS4, making it the fastest-selling PlayStation product in history, considering the first two years since launch. The WSJ news story also reported analyst opinion that the PS4 is “running far ahead of Xbox One” .
As of March 1, 2015, Sony had sold 20.2 million units of the PS4. The latest available official sales figures for the Xbox One were announced in November 2014, when Microsoft announced they had sold nearly 10 million units. The holiday shopping season was strong for Microsoft so the current number is certainly much higher however, the Xbox still trails the PS4 in worldwide sales.
Sony’s PS4 outsold the Xbox One in the U.S. in every single month from January to June 2014. In June, Microsoft announced a $399 version of the Xbox One without the Kinect and said the move led to a doubling of its monthly sales but did not release any specific numbers.

How Much Can You Judge In A Year Really
Of course, one year is a short time in a console’s lifespan. The PlayStation 4, for instance, started shipping in 2013. These life cycles are coming close to ten years, albeit with revisions in between like the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X.
In October, Sony’s Q2 fiscal report showed 3.3 million PS5 consoles sold, with reports claiming 13.4 million PS5’s being sold worldwide since launch. In July, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the Xbox Series X and Series S “are our fastest-selling consoles ever with more consoles sold life-to-date than any previous generation.” Unfortunately, he declined to put an exact number on how many consoles were sold. While gamers love to pit the two against each other, can we tell anything about a new generation from year one?”First year sales can be important for momentum, but it is never a guarantee that a console will continue that success,” said Borman, the gaming historian. “For some consoles, sales remain fairly steady throughout their lifespan. Others fail to hold onto the record-breaking pace following launch.” He cited the Sega Dreamcast, which set sales records in North America, but faced a sharp decline against the PlayStation 2.
Going Head To Head Xbox One Vs Ps4
The dispute over consoles came to a head in November 2013, when the PS4 and Xbox One were unveiled to the world, just seven days apart.
PS4 might be killing it with worldwide sales at 35.9million to Xbox Ones 20million, but whats the situation at home? Using Google Search Data we looked at which states searched the most for which console: PS4 or Xbox One.
Surprisingly, it turns out we arent as torn on our gaming searches as our politics, with the US-made Xbox One topping the list in every state. Thats aside from one very important state in the gaming and tech world.
Home to Silicon Valley, California is the spiritual home of technology. It seems Californians are all about their PS4. Is there something developers and tech pioneers know that we dont? Are Apple, Google and Tesla employees deliberately choosing a console that wont see money going into Microsoft pockets?

Xbox One Vs Ps: Bottom Line
It may seem odd to come to a conclusion on the best last-generation console, but as these machines are still getting games made for them, they are far from irrelevant. Ultimately, the PS4 is the overall winner, all down to its larger selection of exclusive games.
However, you can’t go wrong with an Xbox One S, especially when combined with the the frankly absurd bargain that Xbox Game Pass offers.
In basic terms, if you don’t have an PS4 and have an Xbox One, then it’s still worth snapping up Sony’s last-gen console, especially if you can find it at a bargain price, And the same applies in reverse. There is a overall winner here, but it’s basically you, the console gamer.
Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X: Performance
Comparing PS5 and Xbox Series X performance is difficult at present. While the Toms Guide crew works from home indefinitely, we dont have the tools to measure resolution and frame rate in great depth, nor can we watch games side-by-side or even solicit second opinions.
Bearing that in mind, I compared two games qualitatively across both systems: Assassins Creed Valhalla and Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition. The former is a huge open-world title, where its easy to measure load times as you fast travel from one distant point of the map to another. The latter is a fast, frenetic action game, where any drop in framerate is immediately noticeable.
First: Sonys ambitious claims about the PS5s load times arent exaggerated, as far as I can tell. Assassins Creed Valhalla went from the main menu into the game in less than a minute fast travel took less than 10 seconds from point to point. However, while the Xbox Series X took longer to load the game initially , fast travel time was exactly the same.
Gameplay-wise, if you handed me an ambiguous controller and put either the PS5 or Xbox Series X version of Assassins Creed Valhalla on a screen in front of me, I honestly wouldnt be able to tell the difference. Both systems ran the game at 4K at 60 frames per second , and neither one seemed to have any major difference in animation fluidity, lighting, etc. Texture pop-in seemed a little more noticeable on the Xbox Series X, although that may have just been the area I was in.
