What Is Better Ps4 Or Xbox One

Don't Miss

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: The Price

Xbox One Vs PS4! Which is the Best Console?

The original Xbox One has been discontinued since 2017, but that hasn’t stopped the Xbox One S from being pretty cheap all the same. Of course, the same can be said for the PS4. It isn’t exactly difficult to find good, well-priced bundles of the two consoles that won’t leave you breaking your bank account in the process.

For example, a PS4 Pro 1TB console bundle that comes with Red Dead Redemption 2, can be yours at only $399. Considering you can buy that console for the same price, with zero games involved, that’s a pretty fine deal as far as we’re concerned.

Of course, if you just want the PS4 slim without the need for the added features of the PS4 Pro, then the PS4 Slim bundle with is also a catch for $320.

But the Xbox One X has more than a fair amount of great deals at a good price too. An Xbox One X 1TB console with Fallout 76 included, all for the price of $399? A bargain!

And if you’d rather play some sports than participate in the world of Fallout, the Xbox One X with NBA 2K19 for the same price is only a click away.

That said, there is a huge difference of price between the Xbox One S and the PS4 Slim, the more regular consoles of the bunch. While you’re able to get a deal for $320 for the PS4 Slim 1TB, you’re able to get a complete starter bundle of the Xbox One S for $250 coming with over 3 months of Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Passes. That’s a $70 difference!

Nintendo Switch Vs Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Which Should You Choose

– So, you want a new games console but don’t want to go next-gen quite yet. Well, there is still plenty of choice away from the allure of the Xbox Series X/S and PS5. And, thanks to years of game releases and refinements, they are jam-packed with gaming goodness.

There’s the groundbreaking Nintendo Switch , the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One S. Then, for those with a larger budget, there are the 4K gaming powerhouses, the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X .

That’s why we’re running through the major last-gen games consoles right here, to see which would best suit you.

Xbox One S Vs Ps: Specifications

We’ve known for a while that the PS4 has a significant horsepower advantage over the Xbox One. It has 50% more GPU compute units, allowing for greater parallel processing power that can either be used for onscreen fidelity, or for in-game effects such as real-time physics.

It also has a simpler memory system, with a single 8GB lump of fast GDDR5 memory, compared to Xbox One’s slower DDR3 memory and 32MB high-speed cache. Simple is always good when it comes to console architecture. Developers have in the past criticised Microsoft’s design and the fact that some multi-platform games are forced to run at a lower internal resolution than on Sony’s hardware.

Microsoft has tried to catch up by bumping the CPU and GPU speeds slightly. According to developers, the American tech giant dedicated a small but significant amount of resources to quick-switching between apps a much-needed upgrade which has helped to close the gap.

The Xbox One S has certainly suffered in hardware comparisons. Many cross-platform games run at a resolution of 1,600 x 900 on the Xbox One S, but at a slightly sharper 1,920 x 1,080 on the PS4. The difference isn’t huge, and occasionally it’s offset by slightly more consistent frame rates on the Xbox One, but overall the PS4 consistently has the edge when it comes to head-to-head showdowns.

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Verdict

Now that we’ve taken you through the positives and negatives of each console you’ve probably got a good idea of which is the one for you.

If we go by numbers, the PS4 has won this console war, selling 102 million units and becoming the second best-selling console behind the PS2. Meanwhile, Microsoft won’t reveal the Xbox One sales, but they’re predicted to be between 30 and 70 million.

The PS4 may not be as powerful as the Xbox but, for its game library alone, we would say it’s the better of the two. But really it comes down to your priorities when it comes to a console.

When it comes to future-proofing in the face of the next-generation consoles, it’s certainly worth noting that the base-level PS4 doesn’t offer any of the 4K capabilities of its Xbox One S counterpart and Microsoft’s commitment to cross-generation support through its Smart Delivery system means that your Xbox One is likely to stay relevant for longer. Though it should also be noted that Sony is offering backward compatibility in the PS5 and upgrades to next-gen versions of games.

We have come a long way since the computer could only be described as surreal or a dream of the distant future compared to todays PCs, laptops and gaming consoles. Talking about game consoles, the Magnavox Odyssey was the worlds first consumer device to allow people to play interactive games on their television. The Odysseys games were only played with white squares on a black background. While the video game craze began with the Pong, the system for the Odyssey set the stage for the modern age of video games and modern consoles like the PlayStation and Xbox. The PlayStation was a 32-bit console from the Japanese electronics giant, Sony and with its debut, it quickly established itself as a major player in the console market. Then came the Microsofts Xbox which was the direct competitor to the Sonys PlayStation and other video game consoles such as Nintendo. Lets take a look at some key differences between PlayStation and Xbox.

Ps4 Pro Vs Xbox One X: Interface And Special Features

Both the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X have modern, snappy interfaces and menus that make it easy to navigate the consoles. We’re fans of the PlayStations minimalist, linear options, but we can understand why people might go for the Xboxs big, Windows 8-style tiles.

The Xbox Ones Snap function lets you use two separate programs at once, which is a nice addition, but the PlayStation 4 makes it easy to share your gameplay. The PS4 Pro also has Share Play, which lets you give control of your games to others for up to an hour, regardless of whether your friend owns the game.

The PS4 Pros DualShock 4 controller has a dedicated share button that lets you instantly capture screenshots and footage and share them to Facebook or Twitter or start a stream to Twitch or YouTube. Xbox players need to double-tap the Home button and select Options to record photo or video. On Xbox, you can only send screenshots to Twitter or stream to Twitch.

Both consoles have Remote Play options that let you play your games on other devices. Sony lets you stream PS4 games to PC, Mac, PlayStation Vita and certain Xperia-branded devices, while Xbox One makes it effortless to stream to Windows 10 computers or tablets.

Winner: PlayStation 4 Pro. The PS4 Pro makes it easier to share your game footage, photos and streams across more platforms than the Xbox One X.

If youre having trouble getting hot water, one of several things could be happening. One possibility is that your hot water heater isnt turning on or its defective.

If the temperature is set too low, adjust your shower valve to match the setting on the heater. Finally, if you experience frequent cold showers, check to see if your mixing valve may be faulty.

Xbox One Vs Ps: Interface

While the Xbox One interface started out life as a bit of a sluggish mess it’s not much improved. It runs well and is feature rich, with access to a myriad of tools and settings from as simple push of the Xbox button on the controller.

Its tiled interface perhaps isn’t as slick as other the UI on other game consoles, but it’s information rich, flagging things like the latest Xbox Game Pass games. And thanks to Xbox Cloud Gaming, you can now stream games from the cloud to the Xbox One providing your internet connection is fast enough. There’s also Amazon Alexa voice control should you wish to shout commands at your console.

The PS4 menu takes a different path and arranges game and setting in a single line, with drop down option below. It’s dead easy to use and there’s are neat features like being able to tap the DualShock 4’s Share button lets you record a clip, broadcast your gameplay or take a screenshot.

There are plenty of option in the menu, but they are kept out of the way. Arguably the PS4 doesn’t serve up as much information as the box One, but it certainly keeps things neater and cleaner. Plus the soothing background music is pleasant to the ear.

Both consoles can broadcast gameplay directly to Twitch, though only PS4 can stream to YouTube. PS4 players can share their screenshots and videos to Facebook and Twitter, whereas Xbox owners are limited to the latter network. Xbox One gamers have the option of streaming to Microsoft’s Mixer service.

Is Now The Right Time To Get A Ps4 Or Xbox One

Xbox One vs PS4: Who Won This Generation?

Truth be told, if you don’t have either a PS4 or Xbox One yet, you’re either a mobile or PC player, or you’re not massively engaged with the world of games. Both of these consoles are long-in-the-tooth, having launched in their original forms back in late 2013. And both consoles have successors coming later this year, the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

That means if you buy a console now, in a couple of years it’s likely you won’t be able to play the biggest and best games being released, because they’ll be targeted at the newer consoles. It’s worth knowing that before you buy. Microsoft, though, has committed to releasing games compatible with all its hardware for a couple of years after the newer console’s launch.

It’s also worth noting that both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will play PS4 and Xbox One games respectively through backwards compatibility. So, with an eye on the long-term, the next-gen consoles are by far the better bet. There will be a hard point when games stop being released on PS4 and Xbox One entirely. That’s just a reality of how games are made and sold, and it’s always been this way.

First up, then, is the PS4, the most successful games console of the generation. The cheapest unit is the PS4 Slim. It doesn’t output in 4K, but it’ll always be cheaper than buying the PS4 Pro, which does output in 4K.

The PS4 slim is still pretty hard to get hold of right now, but here are a few places with stock in the US and UK:

Xbox One S Vs Ps: Price

Before you read any further, it’s worth noting that the PS4 and Xbox One S are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Microsoft has officially discontinued the Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, which means retailers won’t have much stock left to sell it also means that what stock is available is a little more expensive than normal.

Ordinarily, the Xbox One S and PS4 sit at £250 and £260 respectively, and it is still very much possible to find both for those prices if you hunt around. These consoles are available in both 500GB and 1TB variants, with the 1TB PS4 usually costing around £50 more although again, with stock slowly decreasing you’re likely to find all manner of inconsistencies.

If you want to buy a second-hand PS4 or Xbox One S, there’s more consistency, at least in terms of stock. Resellers like CeX list the PS4 and Xbox One S at around the £250 mark, abiding by that £50 increase for the 1TB PS4 as well.

At this point in their lifecycles, the PS4 and Xbox One S have gone through so many price changes it’s impossible to choose a winner. The bottom line, though, is that both consoles can be had for well under the price of a new PS5 or Xbox Series X and although they are less powerful, they still run more or less the same games. For now.

Can I Play Skyrim On Pc With A Ps4 Controller

Yes, you can play Skyrim on PC using a PS4 controller. You will need to purchase a third-party adapter in order to connect the controller to your PC, as the PS4 controller does not use Bluetooth. Once you have connected the controller to your PC, you can use it to play Skyrim just as you would with a keyboard and mouse.

Disc Drives And Storage

The Xbox One S, Xbox One X, PS4 Pro and PS4 have physical disc drives, with the Xbox One consoles also able to play 4K Ultra HD Blu-rays. Sony, even as a founding member of the Blu-ray Disc Association, decided against adding a 4K Blu-ray deck to either PS4. They are still able to play conventional 1080p Blu-rays, but not Ultra HD discs.

The Nintendo Switch can do neither. The Japanese firm opted to dispense with discs altogether, with games coming on cartridge instead, much like the 3DS and Nintendo consoles of yore.

Games are also available via download stores, but considering how stingy Nintendo has been with on-board storage, you’ll have to invest in a microSD card to store more than a couple at a time.

The Xbox One S was originally available in a 500GB size, although the 1TB version is the standard model you’ll find in stores these days. The Xbox One X also sports a 1TB drive.

The latest PS4 is available in 500GB and 1TB sizes, while the PS4 Pro is a 1TB console. All Xbox and PlayStation machines have the ability to increase the storage through third-party hard drives – via external USB 3.0 HDDs. In addition, all PS4 models can be expanded through swapping the internal 3.5-inch internal drives.

The Switch, on the other hand, comes with 32GB of built-in storage. Big-name games, especially those from Nintendo itself, often take up at least half of that.

Xbox One S Vs Ps: Controllers

PlayStation 4 vs Xbox One

In our opinion, the Xbox 360 controller was the best of its generation, and Microsoft managed to make a number of improvements on its Xbox One equivalent.

The headline feature has to be refined vibration control, with extra rumble motors for the left and right triggers providing fingertip feedback linked to in-game actions, such as pulling a trigger or squeezing the accelerator. It really works and gives you useful feedback rather than just fairground-esque effects.

The rest of the controller is great, especially the improved D-pad, although the redesigned shoulder buttons and slightly smaller analogue sticks aren’t to everyone’s taste.

The PS4 controller, DualShock 4, has certainly come on in leaps and bounds from its predecessor. It’s more comfortable to hold, the sticks are much improved with greater resistance and precision, plus the triggers feel more responsive than the spongy messes on the DualShock 3.

The stand out feature on the PS4 pad is the small touchpad. This allows for touch controls in games, swipes and the like, plus easier navigation when using a cursor . The whole pad also acts like a button and can be clicked in four different directions. A light bar on the back lets the PS4 camera detect multiple controllers too.

Winner Xbox One S

It’s partly down to what you’re used to, but the Xbox One controller has the edge for us with a proven design and those new rumble motors.

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Games

Both the PS4 and Xbox One now have substantial games libraries. The PS4 has just over 2,000, of which over 299 are PS4 exclusives, while the Xbox One has about nearly 2,000 games with less half the number of exclusives the PS4 has.

The Halo and Gears of War series stand above all others on Xbox One if you’re into shooter games, while Cuphead features some fantastic, colorful boss battle action and Sea of Thieves offers a high-seas multiplayer experience like no other. Halo: The Master Chief Collection lets us relive all the old classics, although the experience was somewhat spoiled by a number of technical problems that have never been fully solved.

But, its with its exclusive racing games that the Xbox One really excels, with the Forza Motorsport and Horizon titles being excellent entries in the series.

The Xbox platform also stands apart thanks to Xbox Game Pass. This subscription service gives players access to a rotating list of more than 100 games for a monthly fee and first-party Xbox games come to it on release day. One Xbox One game on the horizon that will arrive on the service is Halo Infinite, which is sure to be one of the best games on the Xbox One.

Microsoft’s number of exclusives pales compared to Sony, though the former is clearly making a concerted effort to amend this with the creation of five new gaming studios and numerous acquisitions, including Bethesda.
