Ways To Fix An Xbox One Controller That Is Blinking Or Flashing

How to FIX Xbox One Controller Won’t Sync and Blinking Lights (Easy Method)
  • If your Xbox One controller is blinking, your controller may not be paired to your Xbox One.

  • To stop your Xbox One controller from blinking, check that the controller isn’t paired to another system and that it has enough battery.

  • You may need to pair your Xbox One controller by holding down the pair button or by connecting it with a micro USB cable to the console.

There are a number of reasons why your Xbox One controller may be blinking or flashing. But if you see the controller blinking, the Xbox One controller most likely has a pairing issue.

Here’s how to troubleshoot issues with your Xbox One controller if it’s blinking or flashing.

How Do I Set Up My Xbox One Wireless Controller

There are three ways to connect your wireless controller to the Xbox One console : STEP 1: Power on the Xbox One console. STEP 2: Insert AA batteries into the wireless controller. You can also use the rechargeable batteries found on the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit. STEP 3: Press and hold the Xbox button until the wireless controller turns on.

Solution : Reconnect Your Controller

If you set down your peripheral for longer than fifteen minutes, the controller goes to sleep. That means that, as you go back, it will be unresponsive. Youd need to turn it back on.

Do remember that its a standard battery-saving feature of your peripheral. It would not represent a problem when youre playing games, but it can be inconvenient if the Xbox is your main media center.

As an alternative solution, youd have to press a button or move a stick every so often. Otherwise, keep the controller connected with the micro USB cable.

If Your Xbox One Controller Is Not Connecting

If you can’t get your Xbox One controller to connect to your console, you should check for a few common issues.

Do you have eight controllers already connected to your console? While you likely don’t use this many, the maximum amount of controllers an Xbox One supports is eight. After this point, you can’t connect any more controllers.

Hold the Xbox button on a controller and choose Turn controller off on the resulting menu to disconnect one or more of them. Then try connecting the new controller again.

Also, remember that you can only pair a controller with one Xbox One system at a time. If you go to a friend’s house and pair your controller with his Xbox, you’ll have to re-pair it with yours again. This also applies when you connect your Xbox One controller to a PC and then try to use it on your console again.

(please dont downvote, im new to xbox) what does it mean ...

Okay, so what if your controller pairs up normally but then wont stay connected? Thats a pain when playing something single-player, never mind when youre trying to spank your friend at Mortal Kombat X.

First off, remember that your controller is set to disconnect after 15 minutes as a power-saving feature. That wont happen while youre gaming, but if you use your Xbox One as a media center youll need to jog a stick every so often to keep it connected.

If youre having a genuine issue with disconnecting itll happen more frequently than this, so lets talk about some troubleshooting steps.

  • Confirm your batteries are charged by tapping the Xbox button and looking for the battery icon in the bottom-right corner.
  • If theyre low, replace or charge them as necessary.
  • Same if you have a Play and Charge kit, plug the USB cord in to charge as needed.
  • Sometimes the battery pack needs re-seating so take it out and replace it in the controller.
  • Frequent disconnects can be from interference. The Xbox One controller has a range of anywhere between 19 and 28 feet, according to Xbox Support. Try moving closer to your console or removing obstacles between you and it like doors in your entertainment center, metal shelves, or wireless generating devices such as phones and laptops.
