Xbox Live Indie Games
As part of the “New Xbox Experience” update launched on November 19, 2008, Microsoft launched Xbox Live Community Games, and later renamed to “Xbox Live Indie Games”, a service similar to Xbox Live Arcade , with smaller and less expensive games created by independent developers and small studios. Such games are added to the service after successfully passing through a peer review system that prevents inappropriate content from appearing in games and ensures that games meet certain technical standards and do not misrepresent their content.
Initial content partners included Paramount Pictures, CBS, TBS, MTV Networks, UFC, NBC, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Other movie studios have since supported the service including Lionsgate Films and Walt Disney Pictures as announced at E3 2007. At CES 2008, MGM, ABC, the Disney Channel and Toon Disney announced their support for the service.
Various films and TV shows were available for purchase in the Video Store, including both past and present series, such as Star Trek and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Initially, while TV shows could be downloaded and saved, films could only be rentedâexpiring 24 hours after initial viewing or 14 days after purchase.
At launch, the Video Store encountered widespread problems such as lengthy download times, duplicate billing for the same content, and downloads that could not complete, or for which users would have had to repay to complete.
Will Xbox 360 Owners Get Xbox Live Services
Yes. They will continue to receive Xbox Live services for their console, including online multiplayer gaming and parties, access to the apps they still use, and Games with Gold and Deals with Gold. Microsoft also said Xbox Live servers that support Xbox 360 services will remain online and active, allowing Xbox 360 owners to continue playing their favorite games with Xbox Live.
The Xbox 360 Games Store In 2020
After an unsurprising software update, I discovered that Kinect still works like it did on day one, and that the Xbox 360 games store is still pretty much alive. I was able to download and play Grand Theft Auto 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Alan Wake, Red Dead Redemption and Halo: Reach.
Some games like Alan Wake took days to download due to the crawling speed I experienced , but popular titles like Red Dead Redemption were available much faster.
Due to lockdowns, working from home and social distancing norms, my days started blurring together. Completing these games gave me a satisfying sense of progress, and I ended up playing more video games in the last 6 months than in the last 10 years. I dont remember many specific events from this past July, but I do remember the satisfaction of finishing GTA5.
Video Game Numbers during the 2020 pandemic, Bloomberg
I have to confess that I expected to see dated graphics from the Xbox 360 games, and yet Alan Wake surprised me with its use of lights and shadows, and Red Dead Redemption amazed me with its rich scenery and gorgeous sunrises. 4K resolution and ray tracing are gaming aspects that the next-gen consoles will democratize, with gamers around the world dying to get their hands on them.
Nonetheless, the Xbox 360 was still able to provide a fulfilling gaming experience at 1080p resolution and it was capable of rendering graphics beautifully, almost a decade after I bought it.

How Does Gifting Game Keys Work In General
Actually you have the possibility to get game codes from other people. This means that someone from Turkey, for example, can buy a game as a game code from Microsoft and give or sell it to you. So you don’t have to fight with restrictions yourself and can simply negotiate with the “gifter”.
We have set up a Discord-Channel for this purpose, where you can talk to gifters and ask them to buy anything for you. The gifter of course wants to have something for his work and usually sets the price higher than indicated on the website, but then the games are usually still cheaper than elsewhere. You can ask for prices without obligation if you want.

Xbox Makes Xbox 360 Launch Exclusive Free For All Xbox Users
AnXbox 360 game has been made free over on the Microsoft Store, and if you were playing the Xbox 360 at launch in 2005, it may look quite familiar and that’s because it was one of the console’s launch exclusives. Now, it’s free via Xbox Live and can be enjoyed by anyone on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X as there is no Xbox Live Gold requirement. How long it will be free for, we don’t know. In other words, at the moment of publishing it’s free, but this may have changed by the time you’re reading this.
Developed by Carbonated Games and published by Microsoft Studios, Hexic, a tile-matching game, debuted back in 2003 via the PC and the PC only. Two years later when the Xbox 360 was released on November 22, 2022, it came to the Xbox console as a console exclusive right at launch. Upon release, the game garnered a 79 on Metacritic. To this day, the game has never come to other console platforms, and it probably won’t considering it was published by Xbox, who presumably maintains the publishing rights to the game. As for why it’s free, we don’t know.
Microsoft Discontinues Xbox 360 Servers Staying Online
“We have made the decision to stop manufacturing new Xbox 360 consoles.”
Microsoft has ended production of the Xbox 360, the company announced today. The system was introduced in November 2005 and has sold more than 84 million units. Online services for the console will remain available.
“While we’ve had an amazing run, the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us,” Xbox boss Phil Spencer said in a statement. “Which is why we have made the decision to stop manufacturing new Xbox 360 consoles. We will continue to sell existing inventory of Xbox 360 consoles, with availability varying by country.”
Xbox 360 game servers are staying online, Microsoft said. Additionally, services like Games With Gold and Deals With Gold will continue on Xbox 360, while the hardware will still be covered by Xbox Support. Additionally, the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility marketplace on Xbox One will remain online.
“The Xbox 360 helped redefine an entire generation of gaming at Microsoft,” Spencer said. “I am incredibly proud of all of the work and dedication that went into development of the Xbox 360 hardware, services, and games portfolio over the last decade. And I’m grateful to the fans for their continued passion and support.”
Spencer also shared some big numbers that Xbox 360 players have achieved in the past decade.

How To Buy ‘delisted’ Backwards Compatible Games On Xbox
- 741
Want to know how to buy ‘delisted’ backwards compatible Xbox games like Daytona USA, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, GTA 4 DLC, Jet Set Radio and many others? It’s a question we see popping up all the time, and the solution applies to a variety of backwards compatible Xbox 360 games so if you can’t find a game digitally on the Microsoft Store, this might help you.
Seemingly for licensing reasons, certain games aren’t available to purchase directly from the store on modern consoles, so you have to use a workaround and access the old Xbox 360 marketplace. You can do this on an actual Xbox 360 if you want to , or you can navigate to the old marketplace on an internet browser instead.
As an example, here’s how to buy Daytona USA on Xbox One, Series X and Series S using the old store:
If you want to find a different game, try searching ” Xbox 360 marketplace” in Google. Make sure it’s part of the Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S backwards compatibility list before attempting to purchase it though. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, it most likely no longer exists on the marketplace in any form due to licensing issues.
Hopefully you’ll soon be able to play a ‘delisted’ back compat game on your newer Xbox console!

What Games On Demand Titles Are Worth Buying
This is a hard question to answer because everyone has different ideas on value and worth, so while one person might be willing to pay a premium for a digital copy, someone else would rather just save money and buy the same game at GameStop. We won’t give a list of what we think is worth it and what isn’t, but we will share some tips on how to figure things out for yourself.
Problems With Replacement Consoles
Per Marketplace design, the digital rights management license for downloaded content is tied to both a specific user and to a specific console. This means that to access the content, the user either needs to be signed on to Xbox Live using their Gamertag, or be playing on the original console the content was purchased on.
As a result, users with replacement consoles cannot use previously downloaded content without being connected to Xbox Live. This has the effect of restricting usage of purchased content when no Internet connection is available. An additional wrinkle is added when there are multiple accounts on one console. In this case, all accounts can normally share content when it was downloaded on that system. However, if the system is replaced, then only the actual Xbox Live account to which the content is tied can make use of it .
Microsoft’s original attempts to resolve these issues were limited to transferring licenses to consoles replaced under warranty. This required contacting Microsoft support, and the console must have been replaced through Microsoft itself or a warranty from the retailer where it was originally purchased. License transfers could not be performed in the case of a voluntary upgrade .
