Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X: Peformance
Both the Xbox and the PlayStation are stunning improvements on their previous generation. Games load in a snap; the graphics, resolution and framerates are beautiful; the worlds look set to be more expansive and detailed than ever.
But were not really at the point yet where any of the games have made the most of the power of the two consoles, and so its hard to compare which will make for the most exciting and attractive games.
You can compare specs all you like on the pure numbers such as the speed of their processors and the amount of memory, the Xbox Series X wins, but only just. Ultimately what matters is how that hardware is used to power games. And we havent really seen that yet.
Theyre both very, very good, and both much better than the previous generation, but were not yet at the point where we can say which is best. Call it a draw.
Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X User Interface How Do They Feel To Use
The PS5 interface feels like a natural evolution of what came before it. The tile-based system remains, but has been enhanced with a new feature known as the Command Centre. This encapsulates your friends list, audio settings, profile and more, into a single convenient strip of icons that you can customise to your liking. It feels wonderful to use, and will likely only grow in cohesiveness with future firmware updates.;
Sadly, some other new changes make things more cumbersome than they should be. Trophies are now presented as large icons instead of a horizontal list, making it more difficult to check their definition and see how many youve earned at-a-glance like before. Cloud saves are also buried in the settings, and you cant simply download the ones you want from their relevant game icon as you could on the PS4. These feel like irksome steps backward, and Im confused as the reasons they were introduced at all.;
On the flipside, the user interface for Xbox Series X is completely unchanged. If you werent a fan before, then you wont see anything here that will change your mind. I dont mind it too much, although oftentimes there are too many hoops to jump through simply to install games or change specific settings in the avalanche of menus.;

Gpu Specs Aren’t Everything Neither Are Tflops: Game Devs Say The Playstation 5 Isn’t Inferior To The Xbox Series X Despite The Gpu Discrepancy
While gamers are scrutinizing Sony’s next-gen console power, unnamed developers are praising the PlayStation 5 behind the scenes. Sony delivered a rather droll yet fascinating talk about the PS5, detailing GPU, CPU, RAM, and most importantly, SSD specs and made some big promises. But there’s a sizable power discrepancy between the Xbox Series X and PS5. Microsoft’s new Xbox is roughly 17% more powerful than the PS5 in terms of raw GPU TFLOP performance, and has 52 compute units versus the PS5’s 36 CUs. That power differential may not be as meaningful to developers as you think.
In a recent Splitscreen podcast, industry journalist Jason Schreier, who has a close ear to game developers, said numerous devs are very excited about the PS5. The console isn’t vastly inferior to the Xbox Series X, and the PlayStation 5 will hold its own in ways that haven’t been outlined yet. Sony simply needs to have developers talk about the console and show us what the PS5 can really do.
Bear in mind the following quotes were said in an offhand way, and are meant to highlight the general consensus of what certain developers are saying. We have no idea who these developers are, or what games they’re working on, but given Schreier’s position we should expect them to be all across the spectrum.
The quotes are second-hand paraphrases of what developers are saying about the PS5.
One developer says the Xbox Series X’s power lead is pretty huge, though.

Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X Specs How Powerful Is Each Console
Sony and Microsoft have created two of the most powerful gaming consoles ever made in the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Regardless of which one you pick, when it comes to horsepower and other capabilities, youll be fine for a number of years to come. Check out the full breakdown below:;
|Xbox Series X|
The biggest differences come by way of the GPU and internal storage. PS5 peaks at 10 teraflops, while the Xbox Series X soars ahead with 12. Microsofts console also includes additional SSD storage, although the difference it makes is so slight that it likely wont affect the majority of players.;
As for the small difference in teraflops, we likely wont see developers take advantage of such specs until titles are being developed exclusively for the new platforms. Right now, aside from a few exceptions, the majority of games are also available on older platforms.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Astros Playroom do a brilliant job of showcasing what a true next-gen experience feels like, boasting razor-sharp visuals, swift loading times and real-time ray tracing without any change in performance. Its clear that Sony is far more interested in pushing technology forward, while Microsoft doesnt want to leave anyone behind.;

Should I Buy The Ps5 Digital Or The Xbox Series S
So who wins the battle of Xbox Series S vs PS5 Digital? Well, the answer isnt so simple.
If you want a powerful next-gen console that will load current and future games incredibly fast and make them look amazing, go with the PS5 Digital. Its more expensive than the Xbox Series S, but it has all the same specs as the standard PS5, and it delivers the same next-gen performance.
You may have to increase more internal storage later on, but 667GB of usable storage is a pretty decent amount to start with. However, if you prefer owning physical copies of games, the standard PS5 is a better investment in the long run.
Those on a tighter budget who dont need fancy 4K graphics and ray tracing go with the Xbox Series S. You can still play next-gen games and more on this console without breaking the bank. That said, theres not much storage space, so you might need to invest in an internal or external expansion. But depending on which games you play or how titles you play, you may not need that extra storage, making the Series S an easy choice.
If you decide on the Xbox Series S, dont forget to look into the Xbox All Access plan. With Game Pass Ultimate, you wont have to download games; you can stream them. You will still get the enjoyment out of experiencing new titles without taking up precious storage space on your console.

Xbox Series X Vs Ps: Performance
In both cases, the proof will come when we can actually see these consoles perform, but for the time being, we have the claims from both companies and they are very close to one another.
The PS5 will be capable of 4K gaming at up to 120 fps and have support for 8K with no specific frame rate target identified yet.
Support for ray tracing is another big addition for the PS5 as this will both deliver considerably more realistic lighting in games as well as some of the 3D audio effects that Sony has boasted about.
Things are fairly similar on the Xbox Series X side with 4K gaming at up 120 fps with 60 fps as the minimum target, although not all games might reach that mark. Support for 8K gaming is also present, but without specific frame rate targets. Ray tracing is also coming to Xbox Series X, although they have made no related audio claims.
Both consoles also feature custom SSDs that they are promising will deliver dramatically reduced load times versus the previous generation. Sony has been really pushing this message as it could be the winner on this front with dramatically faster throughput for its SSD.
Winner: Xbox Series X. With both the Xbox Series X and PS5 having virtually identical stated performance it’s hard to make a determination here, but given the better overall specs of the Xbox Series X until we have real-world evidence to the contrary it seems like it will have the edge.
Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X Games Which Console Has The Best Exclusives
At the time of writing, Microsoft is yet to release a first-party title developed exclusively for Xbox Series X. Its launch selection consists of games such as Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4 and Ori and the Will of the Wisps, which have all received substantial updates to take advantage of the new hardware. The majority of these optimised titles now support 4K/120fps, or even higher metrics depending on the circumstances.;
Its hugely impressive, but the lack of a brand-new blockbuster does lessen the impact of Microsofts flagship next-gen console. Third-party titles simply dont count: with the exception of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, these will be available on both consoles. As a result, Sony is somewhat ahead when giving casual consumers a solid reason to upgrade.;
At launch, Sony is already boasting a healthy collection of exclusives, which have been designed to push the PS5 as a behemoth of a console. Some great examples include , Demons Souls and Astros Playroom. Whether it be the DualSense controller, real-time ray tracing or loading times each of these games achieves something that wasnt possible on previous-gen consoles.;
The company has also acquired countless studios including Obsidian Entertainment, Playground Games and the entirety of Bethesda. Such acquisitions will bear much fruit in a few short years, and I have no doubt the company will be unstoppable in terms of the breadth of its library before too long. But for now, the PS5 definitely has the edge.;

The Ps Plus Collection
PS Plus Collection
This is a big one for any PS Plus subscribers. It basically gives you access to nearly 20 games from the PS4 catalogue, from both Sony and third-party studios.
Granted, these are last-gen titles, but theyre mostly top-notch ones. And they should load faster and perform better on PS5. This is part of your PS Plus membership, so it doesnt cost anything extra and youll have all of these on day one.
Thats not too shabby. It certainly makes the PS5 a more viable console in its early months when there just arent a ton of next-gen games out yet.
This Could Be A Key Advantage For The New Xbox Over The Ps5
- The new Xbox Series X and Series S have a few advantages over the PS5 when it comes to SSD storage, even though the PS5 has a faster SSD drive.
- Both consoles support custom SSD expansions via a specialized slot that will let gamers play titles stored on custom external SSDs from Seagate that will support the same speed as the internal SSD.
- An Xbox executive confirmed that the Storage Expansion Cards will be hot-swappable, allowing gamers to use any number of drives without having to reboot the console each time a new drive is plugged in.
The four 2020 consoles will feature similar hardware, which means youre bound to experience the future of gaming no matter which you choose this fall. The Xbox Series X offers better theoretical performance, but the PS5 models make use of similar components to achieve comparable speed. The Series S features the same chip as the Series X, but a slower GPU, which appears to be a necessary compromise to keep the price down.
Games optimized for Xbox Series X and the Velocity Architecture need to be run from the internal SSD or the Expandable Storage Drive, Microsoft said at the time, confirming that older Xbox One and Xbox 360 games can run over the consoles USB 3.1 connection.
You can hot swap them. No need to reboot the console. Just plug and play.
Its unclear how PS5 will handle external SSD storage. While theres no memory standard for the new PlayStation, hot-swap support will hopefully not be a problem.

Reasons To Buy An Xbox Series X Instead Of A Ps5
Its not easy to find an Xbox Series X|S or a PlayStation 5 these days, but as gamers wait around for their chance to drop several hundred dollars on a new video game console, its worth asking which one is bestor at least, which one makes the most sense for you.
In the past, picking the console your friends play on made the most sense for anyone worried about multiplayer gaming, but with games now often cross-platform and cross-play thats become less of a concern.
We often discuss raw horsepower when it comes to gaming consoles, but there is honestly so little difference between the Xbox Series X and the PS5 its almost negligible. The Xbox Series X is a bit more powerful, but most people wont notice the difference.
7 reasons to buy an Xbox Series X over a PlayStation 5.
Other considerationslike which gamepad people preferare entirely subjective. The PS5s new DualSense controllers are pretty cool, but battery life isnt as good as the Xbox Series X gamepad and theyre a little buggier in my experience.
Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X: Accessories
Just in case forking out hundreds on a shiny new console wasnt enough of an expenditure for you, both consoles also offer a wide selection of accessories. While none of these ancillary products are a requirement for next-gen gaming, they can enhance the experience by expanding on the consoles features
The PlayStation 5 reveal made a big emphasis on the synergy between console and accessories, announcing them all together, with a unified black and white colour system for maximum style. The announcement showcased the PULSE 3D Wireless headset, which is optimised for 3D audio, allowing you to make the most out of the PS5s Tempest 3D AudioTech. For multiplayer, the headset also features dual noise-cancelling microphones, and it charges via a USB-C connection.
Also included in the reveal was a media remote, with dedicated buttons for quick-launching Disney+, Netflix, Spotify and YouTube, a charging station for two DualSense controllers, and an HD camera, which utilises the PS5s background-removing tools for gameplay streaming. For PSVR owners, you can also pick up a free adaptor that lets you use your PSVR camera with the PS5, by entering the serial number of your VR unit here.

Ps5 Digital Vs Xbox Series S Games
The available games for each console will be a huge deciding factor for a lot of gamers. The PS5 Digital will play all the same titles as the standard PS5, with all enhancements, like 4K resolution, higher frame rates, ray tracing, and more.
Some of the biggest PS5 games out right now include Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demons Souls, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Astros Playroom . Upcoming PS5 games to look forward to include Horizon Forbidden West and the next God of War game.
Most of the PS4 library will be backward compatible with the PS5 digital too, but youll have to either own or download a digital copy.
The Xbox Series S offers the same games as the Series X but at a lower resolution and lower performance level. Halo Infinite was postponed to 2021, so youll have to wait for the flagship property, but you can still play Gears Tactics, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and more.

Whats great about the Series S as opposed to the PS5 Digital is that you can play Xbox One games, plus some Xbox 360 and OG Xbox games. Unfortunately, if an enhanced version of a game is available for the Series X, you wont be able to experience it on the Series S because its not powerful enough.
Why You Should Buy A Gaming Pc
The first hurdle most aspiring PC gamers have to overcome is a mental one. Building a PC is not the easiest job in the world. If youre a lifelong console player, it may seem extra daunting to move away from the plug-and-play format.
Dont be afraid, though! Building your gaming PC is far from something only techies can accomplish. We have already seen plenty of celebrities with no prior experience get the job done, and you can do the same. There are plenty of online resources, including websites that compare part prices and those with example builds you can easily follow.

Of course, you dont even have to make a custom rig if you think its too much of a hassle. There are plenty of affordable prebuilt PCs and even gaming laptops that can fit your needs.
That said in my opinion building a PC is a project worth undertaking. After all, how often do you get to choose every single part that goes into a piece of tech you own? This is the beauty of creating a custom build compared to buying a single-configuration games console. It can be as powerful or as modest as youd like. You dont have to spend over $1,000 on a 2080 Ti graphics card if you primarily play indie games with pixel graphics. On the other hand, if you want to create an RGB lighthouse that attracts swarms of moths, thats absolutely something you can do.
A long-term investment in a gaming PC will outlive the hype of the next-gen consoles.
