The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is not a multiplayer game but this hasnt stopped it being the third most played game on Xbox LIVE.

According to the latest data released on Major Nelson, Skyrim is the third most played Xbox 360 game behind Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3. The list is usually bombarded with shooting games so it comes as a nice surprise something different makes it on the list.

The data tracks games that are being played when you log onto Xbox LIVE so not every game has to be a multiplayer one. I usually play offline altogether when I play single player games but other users may want to stay in touch with their online friends.

The Western Skyrim region seems to be optimized much better than other areas of the game on Xbox One X. The frame rate is still locked at 30 frames per second , but doesn’t appear to suffer from drops that plague other regions of The Elder Scrolls Online. Even exploring snow-covered peaks doesn’t seem to impact the frame rate.

The Elder Scrolls Online still looks a little bland compared to The Elder Scrolls V. Hopefully, with next-generation consoles around the corner, it’ll get a visual upgrade because the developers still want to support it for a long time. The game needs a massive upgrade to lighting more than anything else. A boost to 60 FPS on Xbox Series X wouldn’t hurt either.

Solitude and other areas of Skyrim also look exactly the same as they do in The Elder Scrolls V. It’s unclear why they do because there’s a 1,000-year difference between the two games. I understand that gamers may be delighted to see a familiar area, but surely the team could’ve changed it around a little bit. It’s just not possible for one city to look exactly the same for 1,000 years.

For lovers of fantasy RPGs looking to quest with a companion, Id recommend Divinity: Original Sin 2.

This fantastic franchise shines for its creative quests and excellent sense of humor.

It never takes itself too seriously, even when the fate of the world is at stake.

You could focus on the main campaign, but the side-quests are where the real fun is at.

In addition, you can go online and find another adventuring pair to go around kicking ass and taking names as a squad.

It Only Works With The Skyrim Special Edition On Steam

Bad news for console players. Despite mods now being available on Xbox and PlayStation, Skyrim Together is not one of them. They have also been forced to drop support for older versions of the game, so you also won’t be able to use it with the original or Legendary versions on Steam, it has to be the Special Edition. The good news is it doesn’t matter whether you have the DLC or not, it will work equally well either way. It also doesn’t work in VR and, unsurprisingly, with pirated copies.

How Does Skyrim Co

Skyrim does not have any co-op or multiplayer functionality by itself. Thanks to mods, this is now possible. The Skyrim Together mod allows multiple players to connect to a single instance through a server browser. Clients can host a local server that other Skyrim Together users can join. Passwords can be set to only allow friends into your game. A maximum of eight players can be in a lobby at a given time.

Since this mod is a work in progress, expect a few bugs and missing features. Most actions and items are synchronized, excluding leveled loot from chests, opening claw doors in dungeons, quest objectives , and certain character-altering effects like Wabbajack don’t work.

If you are interested in playing split-screen co-op to remove latency concerns, you can use Skyrim Together in conjunction with the Nucleus Co-op Mod. This mod adds split-screen co-op for compatible games, Skyrim Together being a recent addition. With both mods installed, two instances of Skyrim should start. Yes, although beware that this mod can have serious compatibility issues with certain mods.

In general, mods that swap out textures or general graphics mods won’t have any major compatibility issues. However, there are a few mods that don’t play as nicely with Skyrim Together:

• SKSE dependant mods
• Injectors and external programs

If the mod was created using the Creation Kit, there’s a good chance it’ll work seamlessly in Skyrim Together. If that mod relies on SKSE or external programs, there will be issues.

Puzzles Chests Locks And Doors Are Synchronized

Anything that is locked only requires one player to unlock it, then it will be open for everyone. Likewise, the contents of chests are synchronized, so if one player takes everything another will find an empty container. Currently this only works for static containers, so NPCs that move around do not have their inventories synced. Puzzle solutions should also be synchronized, except for doors that require the claw items, as these work differently in the base code.

What Is Skyrim Co

Unfortunately for those of us on consoles, the only way you can play Skyrim co-op is through a PC-only mod. Eight years after its initial release, we will be playing Skyrim co-op on PC soon. The mod in question is called Skyrim Together, but it isnt available for everyone just yet. Before you get giddy with excitement, the only way youll be playing co-op Skyrim right now is by taking part in the closed beta.

Taking to the Skyrim Together subreddit, a developer of the mod explained that a temporary closed beta will begin soon for loyal patreons. Anyone who has given money through its Patreon page will have access to the closed beta. As per the Reddit post, the closed beta will be used to measure traffic, any emergencies, and stability. You will be able to play 8-player co-op in Skyrim during the closed beta.

The developers also state that it will be a short closed beta, but that there is currently no release date for either the closed or open beta.

Play Skyrim In Local Splitscreen Co

A pair of mods will let you and a friend be dragonborn together, playing Skyrim in the same room on the same screen as each other. The RPG game can now be played in local co-op, use two popular multiplayer tools.

Nucleus co-op, a mod that turns games into splitscreen multiplayer games, is now campatible with Skyrim Together, a mod for playing online co-op in the open-world game, to make it so yourself and your companion can play simultaneously on the same machine. Skyrim becoming part of the Nucelus library was announced on Reddit as part of the latest version, including instructions on how to put it all together.

Youll need Skyrim Special Edition and Skyrim Together through the Harbor launcher a newer form of Skyrim Together is available but it isnt as stable as Harbor. Then you get the latest version of Nucleus, open it, and search for Skyrim in Download Game Scripts. Next, click Search Game to find and run the Skyrim executable through Nucleus. You can open the in-game connection menu using the right CTRL key, and typing in the code 127.0.0.1 will connect you to the local server offline. You should use a different save per instance.

To install Skyrim, you need to first buy it, either directly from Steam or buy the game disk. Not quite. Mods that don’t rely on external scripts will work just fine, even if other players on the server aren’t using them. For example, if you installed Beyond Skyrim: Bruma and are wearing an armor set from that mod, other players that don’t have that mod installed can still play with you your character will just be naked to them. The same is true for graphics mods that don’t rely on scripts.

However, if you have a mod that relies on SKSE scripts, those mods won’t synchronize at all. For example, the Campfire mod will only create a campfire for yourself that only you can see, even if everyone on the server has that mod installed. As the developers put it, “What cannot be found, will not exist.“

On that note, load order doesn’t matter in Skyrim Together. The mod will automatically synchronize load orders when a player joins the game.

An in-development mod called Skyrim Together, which brings the highly vied-for multiplayer experience to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, is set to launch as early as next month.

The prospect of playing The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim with a friend or a group of fellow fans has been beguiling the game’s community since the RPG released in 2011, a situation that was made even more complicated when 2012’s Elder Scrolls Online launched and wasn’t the multiplayer Skyrim many had hoped it would be. But now, six years and countless dreams later, it appears that players will able to experience multiplayer in Skyrim this year — possibly as early as next month.

Rewinding a bit for context, when Elder Scrolls Online hit retails shelves and gaming systems five years ago , mod-makers began filling the gaps and attempting to add online functionality to Skyrim. One such mod is Tamriel Online, the work-in-progress add-on that allows two or more players to band together in-game.

Enter Skyrim Together, a mod that takes what Tamriel aimed to do and offers a more fine-tuned multiplayer experience. The mod was intended to release its first stable build in September, but the developers chose to delay its launch to work out a few kinks and polish it up.
