How Many People Play Rust: Console Edition
We currently have no figures for how many people play Rust: Console Edition however, the PC edition has sold close to 10 million copies and, as recently as Jan 2021, broke all previous Twitch viewer records for the title by attracting an astonishing 1,373,791 viewers and setting a new all-time high Steam ccu of 244,394 players.
In conclusion, Rust is very popular on PC, and there is no reason it shouldnt enjoy similar popularity on console.

Rust: Console Edition The Sky Is Pretty I Guess
Visually, the environment in Rust is quite lovely. On one occasion, I had a few moments of silence to sit in a shelter to watch the sunset over the mountains. As the sun lowered in the skybox, the horizon lit up with campfires and torches. It was a brief moment of peace in a game that had otherwise punished me at every possible turn.
As nice as the environment itself is, it is not without flaws. The procedurally generated environment often would have rocks stacked up into the sky away from the actual land geometry, trees that clip into hillsides, and players falling through the ground mysteriously.
Still, the vastness of Rust’s procedurally generated world means each server has a unique mix of biomes to explore and dominate in whatever way you deem fit. When most people bring up Rust, the imagery of a toxic, dilapidated desert wasteland is what comes to mind. Rust is actually incredibly diverse with sprawling grasslands, towering mountains, and a beautiful winter wonderland that can’t wait to kill you with hypothermia.
Likewise, Rust doesn’t have to just be a radioactive Hunger Games situation. There are actual monuments to explore and puzzles to solve in this world, but you may actually have a hard time getting to actually explore them unless you find yourself part of a larger clan that can help you survive long enough to see them.

Most Of All Just Have Fun With It
In other survival games, you might feel tempted to hoard your weapons, equipment, and rarer items. There’s no point in Rust. With weekly server resets and the constant threat that your base will be raided, you might as well just use your items. You can always craft more weapons if necessary.
Rust is out on console in Spring, and you can expect there to be a pretty large player base during the first few weeks and months. Players have been waiting a long time for this release.
Is Rust Still Coming To Xbox One & Xbox Series X

In a statement from Double Eleven, the company made it clear that Rust is still being made for consoles. The survival game is simply delayed, and development seems to be making steady progress. Even with the obstacles faced by Double Eleven and Facepunch Studios, though, it appears that Rust will be releasing on Xbox consoles fairly soon. The announcement indicates a release window of 2021, although a specific date wasnt shared.
Of course, the global pandemic is still ongoing, so further development delays may occur as a result. The PC version of Rust continues to get regular updates, which indicates the studio is still developing content at a steady rate. Most likely, a late 2021 release date is imminent for Rust on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. However, additional and unexpected delays could push the console version of the game into 2022.
Until an exact release date is shared, fans are only left with a 2021 release window for Rust. Thankfully, the survival game is already available on PC, and Xbox users have some great alternatives to play while they wait. Hopefully, fans of the game wont have to wait too much longer before Rust releases on Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Will Rust Get Cross
As it stands, Facepunch Studios have not announced any plans to join PC and console lobbies, and likely wont for a variety of reasons.
As mentioned above, players who use a keyboard and mouse would have a significant advantage over their controller opponents, in terms of both building and combat.
On top of that, Rust Console Edition has been following its own development roadmap since its May 2021 release, as the devs work to improve the experience while gradually introducing new features.
For many, Rusts sandbox survival antics make it the perfect game to sink hours into, with the ability to construct houses and bases, build weapons, and eventually do battle with other players in your server. Now, youll always know who is in your server, and whether you can play with your friends.

Harvesting Resources And Building A Base
Once you start to get more familiar with the game, youll eventually find a nice place where you want to reside for a while. That means its time to collect resources. Simple resources like wood are easy to find and can be harvested with various tools. The more basic the tool, though, the fewer resources you yield.
Rust comes with a dozen or so buildable structures. This includes foundations, walls, floors and ceilings, door and window frames, and staircases. While those choices are basic, you would be amazed by the variety of bases you can build. Building a base is one of my favorite parts of rust. You can go small, or you can go big. Just keep in mind that you also need upkeep resources. So, the larger your base, the bigger the upkeep.

Rust: Console Edition Everything Wants To Kill You
Let’s be honest. Everything in Rust wants to kill you. The elements, the animals, and most importantly the other players. During one of my earliest attempts at the game, I spawned into a river where another player attempted to hunt a horse, only for the spooked horse to hit and kill me immediately. The next spawn saw me in a slightly safer locale, at least as far as potentially deadly livestock went. But I shortly found myself bashed in the head with a rock by another scantily clad player who had just spawned.
Everything in Rust wants to kill you. The elements, the animals, and most importantly the other players.
Rust does not offer personal save files where you can congregate with just your friends or play alone safely while learning the ropes. You’re forced to play either on an official server or on a private server that you pay to rent. You’re thrown hopelessly into the game with no tutorials or explanations.
It would be easy enough to just shrug off the antics of an unchecked player base if it weren’t for server stability issues that make your low chances of survival plummet even further. In one encounter, the player who killed me approached me with a firearm. While I wasn’t ready to deal with that sort of onslaught, I could have at least managed to engage in some means of self-perseverance if the game did not freeze up for as much as 20-30 seconds every time another player came anywhere close to me.
