What Is The Rust: Console Edition Community Like
Regardless of platform, the Rust official server community is horrendous despite Rust being a survival game that is best enjoyed when teams of players work together to form factions, players of all levels kill on sight.
I have been killed as a brand new player with only a stone and a torch repeatedly by various well-geared players, and even half-naked new players will beat each other to death for what few items the other may be carrying.
Rust Offical servers are best played as a survival horror game, where no one can be trusted, and everyone wants to eat you.
Unofficial and roleplay servers are often far more enjoyable, but unfortunately, Rust: Console Edition does not support community-run servers at launch however, the community have been assured that private servers are a priority for the developers and are expected to launch within the next few weeks, radically increasing the options for players who wish to cooperate with others or play in a more immersive, and less murderous environment.
What Should We Expect From Rust On Console
According to Garry Newman, Facepunch head honcho, the studio are looking to avoid a lot of the mistakes that previous developers have made when porting their survival games to console.
theres a lot of rushed, short sighted low frame rate survival games on console and we didnt want to be in that group. If we release a console version its got to perform right and its got to play right. Its got to be the best survival game you can get on a console.
This instantly brings the likes of DayZ to mind, which was an absolutely disastrous port that didnt do the game itself justice, though its PC version is hardly a shining beacon of optimisation, either.
As for how this will translate to console, Facepunch may have to make a few concessions to get Rust running relatively smoothly on console at a stable 30fps its really difficult to see it managing above that in terms of frames.
At a guess, wed expect the graphical quality to be pared back and for things like draw distance to take a hit, as well as for the map sizes and max player counts per server to be limited a little. This is because Rust is a CPU vampire and asks a lot of really powerful PCs as is, so with current generation consoles being a little underpowered, they may need to cut some things down.
In April 2020, a closed beta for Rust appeared on the Xbox One store, though this was later confirmed by Garry Newman to be for internal testing only.
What Combat System Does Rust: Console Edition Use
Rust: Console Edition, like most survival games, utilises a rather clunky action combat system that emphasises function over aesthetics however, it is to be expected.
With the exception of Conan Exiles, most survival games do not dedicate development resources to creating elegant combat animations when most players simply wish to kill whatever is in front of them and go back to gathering supplies or improving their base.
In short, Rust has functional but unimpressive combat, and for this type of game little else is required.

When Is The Rust Console Edition’s Release Date
Rust for PS4 and Xbox will be released on May 21, 2021. This date was confirmed during an on March 26 after a spring release window was teased earlier in the year. This release will come about a year and a half after the portâs announcement.
The console ports were confirmed during Microsoft’s X019 event and were slated for a 2020 release. The whole year went by though, and we didn’t hear anything else about these ports.
Then in December 2020, developers Facepunch Studios and Double Eleven released a blog post confirming the delay: “We love making great games and bringing them to new audiences, but that sometimes means taking a bit longer to get it right than we originally planned and comes at the unfortunate cost of the disappointment and trust of those who were so keen to play it upon launch,” the blog post said.
The game was rated by the ESRB in January, and a closed beta for the console ports was subsequently held. Clearly, this was all building toward a May release.
How Does Rust Console Edition Differ From Pc
Currently, there is very little to confirm if there will be differences In content between the PC version and the consoles versions, though hopefully there shouldn’t be. Occasionally, in the case for a console port from PC, the console version is usually only one update behind. You can also probably expect the streamlining of controls from PC to console, along with some assists to help out console players.

Is Rust Cross Platform Game
Yes, but not for all compatible devices. Rust is a cross platform game only for consoles. If you are playing Rust on a PS4 or Xbox One, then you can cross-play between PS4 and Xbox One consoles. The device which is Rust cross-platform supported excludes PCs . This means PC users cannot use the cross-play feature for this multiplayer game.
PCs have a different version of the game when compared to the consoles, so there will be their own advantages and disadvantages for sure. This is the main reason why the developers of the game have given a cross platform play only for PS4 and Xbox One consoles. So, if you are playing Rust on a Windows PC, then you can play with other Windows users only. The same goes for Mac device users.
But, when it comes to the console players, like PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox One users, then they can benefit from the cross-play. Players who are on PS4 can easily join the game with Xbox console users. The Switch consoles dont come into the frame since the game Rust, is not available on Nintendo Switch consoles.

By the end of 2015, three million copies had been sold. By March 2017, the game had sold more than 5.2 million units, with more than 1.2 million in-game skins sold. In December 2019, Facepunch announced that Rust had sold 9 million copies, making $142 million, overtaking Garry’s Mod in terms of gross, though still behind in total sales.
In January 2021, Rust saw a surge in popularity because of live streamers playing the game on Twitch.tv for large audiences. The game rose to the top of Twitch’s charts, peaking at over one million concurrent live viewers on 3 January. The group primarily responsible for the high viewer counts was OfflineTV. When Is Rust Releasing On Consoles
Console players who have an interest in Rust will be happy to know that the game is set to come to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2020. The announcement was made in November 2019 in a trailer.
Following the announcement, Facepunch chief Garry Newman was interviewed on the PlayStation Blog about the development of the upcoming port. He revealed that they began work on the console versions of the game in 2018 when the PC version came out of Early Access. They genuinely believe that Rust is the best survival game on PC, so they have used the last couple of years to dedicate themselves to making it the best survival game on console as well.
Newman also revealed that players would be able to host their servers. Newman says that its important for us to allow players to take ownership and configure their servers to their preferences, so expect easy server customization.
With no firm release date set, we do not know precisely when Rust will come to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One yet. Facepunch has not revealed any new details on the console ports in quite a while, and there is no indication of how the pandemic has affected their development.
