‘rocket League’ Supports Cross
Sony announced today that Rocket League has entered the PlayStation Cross-Play Beta program, meaning the popular game now has full cross-platform support. Players on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam PC can now team up or play against one another in all online match types, including casual and competitive modes.
If you’re on PS4, you can make sure that cross-platform play is enabled by going to the main menu of the game, selecting the Options menu, going to the Gameplay tab, and confirming there is a check in the box next to Cross-Platform Play. It should be enabled by default, but it’s worth checking to make sure you can hop online and play against gamers on other platforms.
While you can now play against people regardless of platform, you still can’t party up with them in game. Rocket League developer Psyonix said that feature will be coming with the game’s first major update of the year. For the time being, you’ll only be able to play with your friends by setting up private matches and inviting them to join.
Prior to today, Sony was holding back on cross-platform play, only allowing PS4 players to take on PC gamers. Late last year, Psyonix revealed full cross-platform features were ready to go but Sony was blocking it from happening. The company was similarly restrictive with Fortnite, but eventually backed down and modified it cross-platform policy.
Rocket League Primary Platform
You have to set a primary platform after linking your Rocket League accounts to Epic Games.
As for which Rocket League account should be your primary platform, it should be the one for where youve played the most.
So, if youve played the chaotic football game on PS4 the most, then that should be chosen as your main source.
And your primary platform should be the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, or Steam if youve played there the most instead.

You can only choose one, so opt for the platform which has your highest rank, highest amount of XP, and most inventory.
How To Play Rocket League Cross
Playing with friends on other consoles or platforms is easy.
Rocket League is a fun and exciting free-to-play game thats perfect for playing with friends. Some players enjoy the competitive aspect of the vehicular soccer game, while others just enjoy messing around with their teammates.
Players can play with their friends on any platform as Rocket League supports cross-play by default. But if this option was unintentionally disabled, its easy to get back into the cross-platform action.
Rocket League supports cross-play on Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo consoles. PC players can also enjoy the game with friends on consoles through Steam or the Epic Game store.
If you cannot play Rocket League with a friend on a different console or platform, you need to enable cross-platform play in the menu. Start by launching Rocket League and navigating to the Settings in the Main Menu.
Once you find the settings, look for the Gameplay tab and check the Cross-Platform Play box. This will enable crossplay for every platform and will randomly matchmake with other platforms in online matches.
Players can enjoy public matches with their friends on other platforms or in private lobbies. To join a private lobby with friends, select Play from the Main Menu, then Private Match, and either create or join a lobby. Friends on all platforms can join.

How To Link Your Accounts On Update Day
Rocket Leagues cross-platform progression is made possible with an Epic Games Account. So, creating one or signing into your existing Epic Games Account is the first step of the process. You’ll be prompted to do this when you start up Rocket League for the first time after the update. Once that’s completed, there are a couple of different ways to connect your Rocket League platforms to your Epic Games Account and complete the process for cross-platform progression.
Once you’re logged in, you will be asked to set a Primary Platform. Your Primary Platform will be your source of progression for all of your connected platforms. In other words, be sure to choose the platform where you have the most progress in Rocket Pass, and your highest Competitive Rank. Credit and Esports Token balances will stay tied to each platform as they cannot be transferred to a new platform. Once your Primary Platform is selected, you will be able to play with your Competitive Rank, and Rocket Pass progress, and XP Level on all other connected platforms.
If you make a mistake or change your mind about which platform will be your primary, don’t worry! You will be able to unlink your platform and choose a different platform as your primary, but you will not be able to link that platform to a different Epic Games Account.

Fans of vehicular combat and vehicular components of combat games like Battlefield will eat this right up.
In War Thunder, a free to play cross-platform title, the players are given access to numerous war vehicles, mainly emphasizing those found in the World War II era. You can either engage enemies in Arcade mode or Realistic mode.
More casual players looking for a fun time would probably choose arcade, and those looking for a challenge should pick realistic. Realistic is exactly that: more realistic damage, physics, and more.

In response to a question about being able to play with or against PS4 and PC players, the Rocket League Twitter account responded, “The Xbox platform doesn’t allow for cross-play matchmaking between other systems as a general practice across all titles.”
Players on PS4 and PC are able to play with each other, albeit with some restrictions on joining a party or communicating with those on a different platform. Still, the most important part of the feature–playing with people on another system–is there, and it’ll be missing on Xbox One.
Cross-platform play isn’t unheard of Xbox Live, though it is rare. Shadowrun supported it between Xbox 360 and PC players back in 2007, while IDARB did the same with Xbox One and PC earlier this year and Fable Legends will when it’s released.
The Xbox One version of Rocket League, announced last night, comes with a pair of exclusive vehicles themed around Halo and Gears of War . The plan is to be “aggressive” with supporting DLC on the platform following its release in February 2016.
What You Need To Start Playing Rocket League
If a friend of yours wants to start playing Rocket League, or youre looking to get a friend to start playing they will obviously either need a console that supports the game, such as the Playstation 4, the Xbox One, or the Nintendo Switch. Or if they dont have a console and dont want to spend $400+ on a console, they can also play on a PC. Here are the requirements for Rocket League on a PC:
- OS: Windows 7 or Newer Windows OS.
- Processor: 2.5 GHz Dual-core or 3.0+ GHz Quad-core .
- Memory: 4 GB RAM or 8 GB .
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 760, AMD Radeon R7 270X, or better
- DirectX: Version 11
- Network: Broadband Internet connection
- Storage: 20 GB available space
Admittedly, a PC with the recommended spec will still cost around $500 to build/purchase. Not to mention you need to spend another $50 on a controller since Rocket League recommends it for the best gameplay. However, a PC means you can do numerous other things with it as well. Such as work or school assignments, creative things like photo editing, and more.
Keep in mind that some PC parts such as CPUs and graphic cards can be hard to get nowadays thanks to the silicone shortage. Even if you can find them, the price might be so inflated that youre better off buying a console. Another alternative is to buy a laptop, but $500 will usually only get you the minimum required spec to play Rocket League. Can You Trade Cross
The short answer to this is both yes and no. The tradability of an item is decided upon which platform it was originally crafted on. This means that if you build a Blueprint using credits on PC, you wont be able to trade that item with Xbox players, even if you log into the game with an Xbox.
Other tradable items will be tradable regardless of which platform you first received them, but youll only be able to initiate trades with players that are logged into the same platform as you. If youd like to trade an item to a friend on an Xbox as a PC player, youll either need to switch to an Xbox yourself or have them log into the game through a PC.
Is Rocket League Cross
Yes, Rocket League supports cross-platform play across PS4, Xbox One, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. No matter which platform youre on, you can team up with or against friends online. Like , players from all platforms enter the same matchmaking queue, so when youre playing online, youll likely be playing alongside users on other systems.
Unlike Warzone and Modern Warfare, though, you dont need an external account for crossplay. As long as youve , cross-platform play should already be enabled. All you need to do is start a match to play with other systems.
Although Rocket League is 5 years old, full cross-platform support didnt come to the game until last year. Shortly after Sony bowed to the command of gamers demanding cross-platform support for Fortnite, Rocket League joined PlayStations crossplay beta.

Dont Be Afraid To Demo
Demolition or demo for short as Rocket League players like to say, is when you destroy your opponents car by using boost. Dont be afraid to demo your opponents when you see the opportunity. But be careful, when done poorly this may backfire and opens up a hole in your teams defense. But done correctly, then this can create a hole in your opponents rotation and allows your team to attack and score.
Likewise, be on the watch out for your opponents trying to demo you. Players will often demo you throw you off your game and create scoring opportunities.

Youre In Control Of Well The Controls

In addition to the camera, the controls like most other games are programmable. You can control what each button will do for you. For example, if you want to trigger the boost with a different button, you can do that. Some players cant be bothered to do this and would rather just get used to default settings, and thats fine. But if you feel like you can improve it, then you can in Rocket League.

Psyonix Vice President Jeremy Dunham Discusses The Possibility Of Ps4 To Xbox One Cross
Rocket League made history earlier this year when it became the first Xbox One game to support cross-platform play with PC. Now developer Psyonix is looking to make history yet again by becoming the first game to support cross-platform play between PS4 and Xbox One. Sony has yet to give its blessing on the matter, but Psyonix is confident that it will get the go-ahead.
Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham stated that cross-platform play between the two competing consoles is “inevitable.” Unfortunately, a potential time frame was not offered by Dunham, so if cross-platform play between the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Rocket League is as “inevitable” as Psyonix believes, there’s no telling when it could be implemented.
We know that Rocket League has already been prepped for PS4/Xbox One cross-play, with Psyonix stating in the past that turning the feature on would just be a matter of hours. Despite Psyonix’s confidence, however, there’s no guarantee that such a feature would ever get the green light from Sony.
When Sony was asked about the possibility of cross-play between PS4 and Xbox One, the company gave a noncommittal answer, stating that it would be “happy to have the conversation” with any interested parties. That doesn’t mean Sony will ever actually open the door for PS4 gamers to play multiplayer games with Xbox One owners, as there’s one big reason why that may not be such a good idea for the company.
How Can You Trade Cross
Trading cross-platform on Rocket League will require you to have access to multiple gaming platforms. If youd like to trade with a player on Nintendo Switch, youll need to log into the game from one yourself or invite them for a trade when theyre playing on your preferred platform.
When you have the play on the same platform box checked, you can invite them to your party in Rocket League. Once they accept, select their name or car and choose Invite to Trade.
Both players will need to confirm the trade for it to be processed, and an additional countdown will occur, allowing any of the players to cancel the trade if something is wrong.
If you have an Epic account that you previously used to merge all of your progress on different platforms, all of your items will be usable as you switch platforms with your Epic accounts. Youll be able to equip them no matter the gaming device youre using to play Rocket League.

Relating To Mobile Devices
In general, games on mobile devices, though using iOS, Android, or Windows Mobile operating systems, do not have cross-platform play support. Mobile games are developed with recognition of connection speed limitations of cellular networks, and thus most multiplayer games are often turn-based strategy games rather than real-time action games. Many multiplayer games for mobile devices are asynchronous, where players individually complete turns or actions, these actions sent to central services and pushed out to the other players that may be impacted by those actions.
There are mobile games that do feature synchronous cross-platform play, typically using centralized services to normalize out platform choices. A common example is Hearthstone which enables mobile players to challenge players on any other platform that the game has been released on, including computers. Microsoft introduced server-side Realms in June 2016 to enable Minecraft players on Windows, iOS, and Android devices to play together, with Xbox One set to be included in 2017 and eventually support for virtual reality hardware.Minecraft‘s “Bedrock” edition unifies play across Windows 10, mobile, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions, with PlayStation 4 cross-platform play added in December 2019, while Fortnite Battle Royale mobile versions were built with cross-platform play with computers and consoles.
