Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate A Review

In similar NetherRealm Studios fashion,;Mortal Kombat 11 is being wrapped up with an Ultimate edition.; This Ultimate edition takes all four major releases and puts it all into one game, for those of you that have been waiting to pick this game up.; ;Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate;contains the base game, both Kombat Packs, and Aftermath, all contained in one green Xbox game case.; Lets take a closer look at what all comes in this newest edition of;Mortal Kombat 11.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate tells the full story of what happens in;Mortal Kombat 11 with the included expansion Aftermath.; Raiden begins the story by decapitating Shinnok, and then setting out to destroy all of his enemies.; The decapitation of Shinnok inspires Kronika, Shinnoks mother, to rewrite history in order to protect her son and to erase Raidens interference.; This sets into motion the formation of a series of alliances, Raiden with Earthrealm and Kronika with Netherrealm, for each side to gain strength in the upcoming struggle.; The first part of the story ends with the final battle between Liu Kang and Kronika for the fate of time and the universe.

Game Play

Similar to what I said regarding the story, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate;has it all in terms of game play.; Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate has the full roster of all combatants in the game, alternate skins that were found in the other Kombat Packs, tons of stages, stage fatalities, friendships, and both story modes.

Mortal Kombat X Review For Ps4 Xbox One Pc

Also On:Publisher:Developer:Online:ESRB:

Im old enough to actually remember when the original Mortal Kombat hit arcades, bowling alleys and pizza parlors in my area. Not counting the console spin-offs, Ive dumped countless quarters/tokens and hours into the various Mortal Kombat releases over the past 20 years, so I definitely have some history with Midways fighting game franchise. Historically, the original trilogy has dominated most of my playtime, but I certainly appreciated what the excellent Mortal Kombat 9 brought to the table for modern fighting game fans. Mortal Kombat X takes the 2011 reboot, updates it a bit more for the newer generation of console and PC players, and launches as yet another enjoyable and entertaining as hell installment in the series.

New to Mortal Kombat X is the always online functionality, and the Factions metagame, which requires all players to enlist in one of 5 factions and compete globally against the competition. You work with other members of your faction by completing challenges, in single and online modes and games, which contribute to your own XP, faction XP and War points. The better your faction does on the global leaderboard, the more content is unlocked, including new modes and even Faction Kill finishing moves. Its a nice touch to be able to take part in the community even if you have no real interest in venturing into an actual online match.

The Rebirth Of The Series Appears To Be Reaching Its End

Mortal Kombat as a whole got the re-invigoration it so desperately needed back in 2011 with the ninth mainline game in the series, but now if you don’t already own a copy, it may be much harder to come across.

Mortal Kombat 9 is no longer available to purchase digitally on Xbox 360 and Steam though while the Komplete Edition on PlayStation 3 can still be bought, the original base game can no longer be found.

No official word has come out as to why MK9 can no longer be purchased outside of PS3 and Vita though the Steam page for Komplete Edition notes the game was removed from sale at the request of the publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Separately, the Mortal Kombat support website also posted this morning that online multiplayer functionality will no longer be accessible for PS3 players while the “Message of the Day” feature for all systems have also been removed.

There is currently some speculation floating around that the pull may be tied to licensing issues with Freddy Kruger’s guest DLC appearance, as Wes Craven’s estate reportedly regained the rights to the character and A Nightmare on Elm Street from Warner Bros.

At this time, however, Freddy Kruger is still available to purchase as standalone DLC on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Marketplace.

Mortal Kombat 9 first launched on April 19, 2011 where it sold two million copies in its first month on the market and sat at three million as of August of that year.

The Chronicles Of Riddick Series

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay is a cult classic on the original Xbox, but sadly neither it nor its sequel/remake have been made available to play on Xbox One. While it would be nice to have the original;Escape from Butcher Bay added to the backward compatibility lineup, it may actually be preferable for;Assault on Dark Athena to be added instead.;The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena includes a remake of the original;Escape from Butcher Bay, and features a number of other enhancements as well.

Project Gotham Racing Series

Mortal Kombat X Story Trailer – Official (Xbox One) Game 2015

Microsoft’s current flagship racing franchise is;Forza, with new;Forza Horizon and;Forza Motorsport games released almost every year. However, there once was a time when Microsoft had more than one exclusive racing series under its belt, with the other being;Project Gotham Racing. All of the games in the;Project Gotham Racing series earned critical acclaim, yet none of them have been added to the Xbox backward compatibility lineup. This likely boils down to music licensing issues of some kind since Microsoft owns the rights;Project Gotham Racing IP, but if those issues could get sorted out, many racing fans would likely jump at the opportunity to return to the popular series.

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Could Add Injustice And Mortal Kombat 9

Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice: Gods Among Us could be coming to the Xbox One via backwards compatibility.

Ed Boon just teased :

With Xbox1 backwards compatibility I wonder if its safe for us to announce MK9 & Injustice for Xbox1 😉

This is not a full confirmation, but it looks like Ed Boon is in discussions with Microsoft to bring these two Xbox 360 games onto the Xbox One via backwards compatibility.

Even though Ed Boon is the creator of Mortal Kombat, he is not really in charge on whether the two games will be available for Xbox One backwards compatibility.

Microsoft will have to consult the publisher who happens to be Warner Bros. Although Ed Boon could probably convince both parties to make it happen.

Microsoft will be making over 100 Xbox 360 games backwards compatible on Xbox One by Fall 2015. Some preview members already have the ability to try out some games already like Mass Effect.

For everyone else, they will have to wait for an update to come on Xbox One in Fall 2015. The game library is sure to grow in the near future once Microsoft contacts more game publishers.

Fan votes are underway and people really want to play their old copies of Red Dead Redemption on Xbox One.

The Elder Scrolls : Skyrim

In 2016, Bethesda released; The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim‘s Special Edition, which is essentially the same game as the original release, but with improved visuals and mod support. Since; The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is playable on Xbox One through the Special Edition, one might think that there is no good reason to add the Xbox 360 version to the backward compatibility lineup. However, Xbox 360 players can’t transfer their saves to the;Skyrim Special Edition, meaning anyone that wants to play their original saves will have to dig their 360 out of the closet to do so. Now that Microsoft owns the rights to Bethesda and;The Elder Scrolls franchise, maybe the 360 version of;Skyrim can finally join the backward compatibility lineup.

Mortal Kombat Head Teases Mk9 And Injustice For Xbox One Via Backwards Compatibility

Mortal Kombat 11 Premium Edition

Hot on the heels of Criterion’s Burnout tease, Mortal Kombat head Ed Boon yesterday implied that Mortal Kombat and Injustice: Gods Among Us will also be heading to Xbox One, courtesy of backwards compatibility.

Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb chimed in soon after:

MK9 released on Xbox 360 back in 2011 and features the same classic kombat and gory x-ray moves as the recently released MKX. Injustice: Gods Among Us released in 2013 on PS4, and Xbox 360, but never Xbox One. The DC Universe fighter won widespread praise and achieved decent sales, so to see it finally head to Xbox One is a a significant boon.

The interest from third party devs should be encouraging for those hoping to see their favourite Xbox 360 games on Xbox One. You can see the full list of current backwards compatible Xbox One games here, and vote for further games to be added here. Deus Ex Human Revolution needs more votes guys and gals.

On May 22, 2013, it was announced that the Komplete Edition would be released for Windows on July 3, 2013.
