UPDATE: The Microsoft Flight Simulator release time is here and the tech giant has confirmed that it is now rolling out across Xbox One and Xbox Series X. It should also be noted that MFS can be played via Xbox Game Pass for those with an active subscription.

ORIGINAL: Microsofts most recent first-party exclusives have been a little hit and miss, with Gears 5 and Forza leading the way. However, the Microsoft Flight Simulator Xbox release date is happening in the next 24-hours, and it looks to be one of the most ambitious yet.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is definitely one of the companys better launches in recent years and has proven a fan-favourite on PC.

As the name suggests, MFS 2020 offers several flight simulator programs that allow enthusiasts to take the helm of a huge range of planes across a number of detailed maps and terrains.

I Thought Xbox Series X

Microsoft has previously stressed plans to continue Xbox One support, especially with Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in short supply. Upcoming titles like Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 launch on older Xbox One hardware, whereas previous console launches saw older hardware ditched at a much faster pace.

Xbox One remains a viable gaming platform in 2021, with almost every new title still shipping on the previous generation. We expect this to continue alongside current hardware constraints, with ongoing chip shortages bottlenecking who can purchase the consoles. However, for next-generation experiences like Microsoft Flight Simulator, we see a shift in the trend.

Let Your Dreams Take Flight

Microsoft Flight Simulator could still come to Xbox One ...

After a year of its original release on PC, the highly acclaimed Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming over to the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S today. The game will go live at 8 AM PT, 11 AM ET, and 4 PM UK, today. It very well may be already live by the time you are reading this, so check your Xbox Store!

The game lets you explore virtually anywhere in the world. If you feel like visiting the Eiffel Tower, go for it, why not take a detour right after and fly over to the Giza pyramids, I also hear the Great Wall of China is nice this time of the year. You will probably even be able to find your own home if you really feel the itch to do so.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming over to consoles and bringing along with it its stunningly detailed graphics. On the Xbox Series X, you will be able to play at 4K and 30FPS. On the Xbox Series S however, the highest you can go is 1080p with 30FPS.

While initially announced as an Xbox One release, Microsoft quietly removed any references to the console during Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020s advertising. If you have tried the AAA title on a PC, you already know why.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is an aesthetical masterpiece-arguably, the best-looking game ever-but all of these graphics come at a cost. The game can be really taxing for even the most high-end rigs, especially the Graphics card. Prior to the launch of Nvidias state of art Ampere GPUs and AMDs 6000 series, there wasnt a GPU on the market that could top 60-fps on Ultra 4K settings.

The aging Xbox One hardware is unable to meet the games exalted requirements. The 8-core AMD Jaguar processor and a slow internal hard drive are severe shortcomings, rendering the console incapable of running the game. Although it packs an upgraded six teraflop GPU, the same shortcomings apply to the much-improved Xbox One X one, with the updates leaving the CPU untouched.

What Is Microsoft Flight Simulator For Xbox Series X

Microsoft Flight Simulator is already here for PC, and released across the globe on Aug. 18, 2020, marking the long-awaited return for Microsoft’s flight sim series. Microsoft Flight Simulator is one of the most ambitious games in recent history, utilizing the power of the cloud to map out the real world in real-time. This allows players to fly across environments in more detail and beauty than ever before. For such a project to come to PC is a no-brainer, but Microsoft Flight Simulator was promised to be released on Xbox down the road as well.

Microsoft Flight Simulator may play and look differently on Xbox Series X|S versus the full-fledged PC version with the recommended PC requirements, but it looks like Microsoft may be poised to deliver killer visuals without noticeable compromise on their flagship consoles, with the power and modern features of Xbox Series X|S capable of delivering better-than-ever gaming experiences. MSFS will also feature better support for controllers and new tutorials and game modes for more casual players.

If you have great internet, Xbox players will also be able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator without its “offline mode”, saving valuable storage space.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is being developed by Asobo Studio in partnership with Xbox Game Studios.

Will Microsoft Flight Simulator Ever Come To Xbox One

Microsoft Flight Simulator – Xbox Series X|S Gameplay Trailer – Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2021

Most likely. Microsoft has no plans to bring Microsoft Flight Simulator to Xbox One, at least natively. However, investments in Xbox cloud gaming could directly benefit Xbox One owners still to upgrade at a later date.

The ongoing Xbox Cloud Gaming rollout recently saw iOS and PC testing expand to the public, joining Android devices in remote Xbox gaming. It brings full-fledged Xbox experiences to mobile devices over low-latency streaming, with planned expansions to smart TVs and even older Xbox One hardware. The move will essentially turn obsolete hardware into nodes for cloud gaming, including titles exclusive to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

“For the millions of people who play on Xbox One consoles today, we are looking forward to sharing more about how we will bring many of these next-gen games, such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, to your console through Xbox Cloud Gaming, just like we do with mobile devices, tablets, and browsers,” Microsoft stated.

Microsoft has been steadily upgrading its Xbox cloud gaming servers with new Xbox Series X hardware, providing a new way to access current generation experiences. Microsoft appears set to bring the new Flight Simulator to Xbox One. It’s just not clear when the platform will be ready to deliver those experiences.

Again, we’re uncertain about this, but considering the new Microsoft Edge app is being tested by Xbox Insiders and is seemingly preparing for a public launch in the near future, it could be a lot sooner than anticipated.

Xbox Cloud Gaming currently runs through a browser on Apple devices and PCs. We imagine the console version will work similarly to this, at least at launch. However, Microsoft Flight Simulator has yet to be made playable via the cloud for any device yet, so its release date for Xbox One is still admittedly a bit ‘up in the air’ for now.

The Reason Microsoft Flight Simulator Isn’t Coming To Xbox One This July

Microsoft Flight Simulator is easily among the most demanding titles on the market, aiming to deliver photorealistic visuals across the entire globe. The PC experience pushed even the best CPUs and GPUs to their limits in 2020, with ultra-tier settings at 4K resolution nigh impossible for most high-end PC rigs. The complexity of its virtual world demands high system requirements, notably CPU-bound, to achieve steady performance.

While Microsoft hasn’t provided total clarity around its decision to skip Xbox One consoles, the intention is evident when looking at what’s on offer. The aging Xbox One hardware ultimately falls short for Microsoft Flight Simulator, including the revised Xbox One X from 2017.

The biggest advancements of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S naturally benefit Microsoft Flight Simulator, including a new custom AMD Zen 2 CPU pushing up to four times the power of Xbox One X. The affordable Xbox Series S rocks an eight-core CPU at 3.6 GHz a clock speed just short of the 3.8 GHz achieved by Xbox Series X. Their similar brains outpace previous-generation hardware, meaning Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S can deliver a stable experience, as outlined in our Microsoft Flight Simulator Xbox review.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Is Coming To Xbox

Microsoft Flight Simulator Release Date Trailer PC Xbox ...

Asobo Studios Microsoft Flight Simulator has finally been revealed for Xbox Series X and S consoles, launching on July 27th 2021.

Available on Xbox Game Pass as soon as it releases, Microsoft Flight Simulator is a staggeringly beautiful simulator that we couldnt get enough of when we first played and reviewed it on PC.

This console launch should make the title more accessible than ever without too many compromises, as the trailer touts that the incredible footage is captured in real-time 4K on Xbox Series X. Theres no word on Xbox Series S performance, but hopefully itll still be a treat to play.

Its unclear from the trailer how well all the intricacies of flying a plane will translate onto the buttons of a controller, but we hope that Asobo has done its due diligence to create the best experience possible on consoles.

To go along with Microsoft Flight Simulators release onto consoles, there will also be a free expansion coming in Fall 2021, which will introduce fighter jets in a crossover with Paramount Pictures Top Gun Maverick.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 launches on PC tomorrow via the Microsoft store and steam, but lots of people continue to ask: can you play Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox One?

Although the game will be available for Xbox Game Pass on PC as early as August 18th, you will not be able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on Xbox One.

This is because there is no release date for the ambitious pilot-sim on console yet despite a version being in the works.

In regard to the Xbox One version, no release date has been announced, but developer Asobo Studio have said that it will not jeopardise the PC version.

The Xbox will help us to optimize the product, so it will also be a benefit for PC, said lead software engineer, Martial Bossard.

There is nothing PC will lose from the Xbox. Its basically the opposite. Were doing the work to have a better experience on the Xbox family, then we will improve the PC version at the same time.

Prepare For Takeoff On Xbox One And Xbox Series X

Microsoft Flight Simulator launched just a few days ago on PC, but when is the game coming to Xbox? An Xbox One version of the game is currently in development, but the PC version was developer Asobo Studios main priority. Microsoft Flight Simulator leverages a lot of insane technology to recreate the entire planet down to the last detail, and the game requires powerful PC hardware to get the most out of its expansive feature set. The Xbox One port likely requires some additional optimization, which is why it didnt release simultaneously with the PC version.
