Sales Of Call Of Duty: Black Ops Spike After The Game Is Added To The List Of Xbox 360 Titles That Are Backward Compatible On The Xbox One Earlier This Week
This week, joined the ever-increasing list of Xbox 360 titles that are compatible with the console’s successor, the Xbox One. Since then, we’ve seen just how popular this six-year-old FPS title really is.
Sales of the Xbox 360 version of Black Ops on Amazon soared 13,400% in the wake of the announcement, according to a report from Videogamer. The budget-friendly Classics reprint of the game also saw a healthy 6,877% jump in sales over the same 24 hour period.
GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY
This massive influx meant that the game briefly rose to the number two position on Amazon’s hourly charts, pipping the recently released Doom and snapping at the heels of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. For a game that broke sales records upon its initial release years ago, that’s rather impressive.
However, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, given the recent history of the series. The FPS franchise didn’t make the best transition to the current generation of consoles, and since then there have been signs of a scramble to reclaim the enormous popularity it enjoyed at its peak.
This has come to a head over the last couple of weeks in response to Activision’s strategy in marketing this year’s . The new instalment takes the series in a brave new direction with a far-future setting but many fans are more interested in its pre-order bonus, a remaster of 2007’s Modern Warfare.
is available now for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PC.
Why ‘call Of Duty: Black Ops 2’ May Never Be Backward Compatible On Xbox One
Microsoft has been keeping track of which Xbox 360-era games players want to see on the Xbox One through backward compatibility, and is now leading the pack. The company’s best moment of E3 2015 was the announcement of this new functionality, something thought everyone thought wasnt going to be possible this console generation, but since then, its become clear it’s going to be a rather time-consuming process.
Rather than a switch-flip that allows all old games to work with the Xbox One, its a slow trickle where each game has to be massaged gently into becoming backward compatible. As such, Microsoft has created a sort of priority list where fans can vote on which games they want to see make the leap.
The news today is that has finally amassed enough votes to pass up Red Dead Redemption for the number one spot on the most-requested list. In the top ten games on the chart, there are five , including both Black Ops and all three Modern Warfares. If you expand it to the top twelve, even World at War makes the cut.
But despite this by popular demand chart, I have serious doubts that Activision will see the financial or even logical benefit of allowing Black Ops 2 or any other games to become backward compatible on Xbox One. Think thats terrible? Well, stop and consider it for a minute.

First Call Of Duty: Black Ops Game Might Be Xbox One Backwards Compatible Very Soon
The first Call of Duty: Black Ops game might be Xbox One backwards compatible very soon. This is evident by some people being able to download DLC from the first game on their Xbox One consoles.
Spanish website, SoloXboxOne, reports that they are able to download the Annihilation DLC pack from the Spanish Xbox One marketplace already.
Annihilation is the third DLC pack that was released for the first Call of Duty: Black Ops game. The fact that the DLC is available to download on the Xbox One marketplace could mean that backwards compatibility for the game should be happening any day now.
Activision has no plans to remaster any of their previous Call of Duty games as they feel it might impact sales of newer COD titles out on the market. Backwards compatibility is the only way that gamers can play older COD games on the Xbox One for now.
Microsoft is no longer announcing backwards compatible games on a monthly basis. Games will become available whenever they are ready so keep your eye out constantly for new additions.

Mob Of The Dead Map Black Ops Ii

As a DLC-only map, it may not have been enjoyed by as many people as base maps, but the legacy that Mob of the Dead has left been is unreal.
Fans of Warzones Rebirth Island would already have been familiar with Mob of the Dead as the map is set in the world-famous Alcatraz prison. It manages to intertwine the themes of the undead with mobsters, and create a perfect scenario in which you need to escape the island.
Action in Mob of the Dead is intense unlike any other, particularly with the tightness of the corridors and its surroundings at times. The Easter Egg for Mob of the Dead is tremendous, and we definitely need to see it reimagined in the future for all players to experience.

Kino Der Toten Map Black Ops
Sometimes, less is more. Whereas Nacht der Untoten feels barebones and a modern map like Die Maschine is chock full of features, Kino der Toten strikes that fine balance of power, whilst delivering the best map in CoD Zombies history.
Kinos cinema is probably the most iconic setting in the franchise and its level design makes the map unbelievably accessible. Turning on the power, going through the curtains, and seeing the decimated venue is a cool feeling.
You can manipulate how the Zombies will get to you, depending on which doors you unlock, and the Projector room offers the perfect respite from the chaos. Kin der Toten never stops being a blast to play, and thats why we think its the best CoD Zombies map in the games history.

How Backward Compatible Are The Xbox Series X And S

Microsofts Xbox Series X and S consoles have a heavy emphasis on backward compatibility with previous Xbox consoles. They can run almost every Xbox One gameand thats just the start. Heres how backward compatibility works.
Store And Play Older Games On External Drives
Storage space is at a premium on the latest consoles, with a 1TB solid-state drive included on the Series X and 512GB on the Series S. While this storage is fast and bound to do wonders for load times, you might want to hold off on using it for older Xbox titles.
Xbox Series games that are designed for the latest consoles require the use of the SSD to run. Without the added speed afforded by the internal drive , these games wont work. You wont be able to install next-gen titles like Halo: Infinite on a regular USB hard drive.
Older titles dont have this requirement, since older games were designed with slower mechanical hard drives in mind. As a result, Microsoft has made it possible to store older games on external drives. Its up to you whether you go for an old fashioned spinning hard drive, or something a little snappier like an external solid-state drive.
Early analysis from Digital Foundry showed that an external SATA SSD offers the best performance in older titles that arent stored on the internal drive, with an external NVME SSD coming in a very close second. Spinning hard drives are still an option, but the technology is showing its age now.

Several windows users have confirmed that they were able to resolve the issue by performing a soft reset.
This method will end up resetting all files belonging to the operating system but will allow you to keep your files including game titles, saved data, and user preferences.

Microsoft made a new batch of old games playable on Xbox Series X and S, in celebration of its original console’s 20th anniversary.
The PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S all play old games, with a few limitations.
Playing your old games on a next-generation console is a huge deal for people who want to check out titles they missed or revisit the past. Sony and Microsoft knew this as they launched their PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X last year, both having hyped up their consoles’ backward compatibility features. The two companies have been battling other console makers for decades — Sony since 1994 and Microsoft since 2001 — so they’ve both built up magnificent back catalogs filled with classics. It may have missed out on the top ten most requested list but Halo Wars is definitely one of the more sought-after games from fans.
Reaching the top 20, alongside GTA: San Andreas and Bioshock Infinite, Halo Wars looks set to make its BC debut very soon.
Like the other titles allegedly poised to be part of Backward Comp soon, Halo Wars has been spotted on the Xbox One Marketplace, screenshots have been taken, and fans will be hoping for an announcement soon.
A file size of 6.34GB is listed and would make for an excellent download ahead of the release of Halo Wars 2.
Halo Wars 2 will include an all-new Halo story and is set to arrive on Xbox One and Windows 10 in fall of 2016 from developers Creative Assembly.
The game is set to follow in the tradition of the original Halo Wars and will not mimic The Total War franchise Creative Assembly are famous for.
Theres loads of pressure, studio boss Tim Heaton told MCV.
We are absolutely using Halo Wars as a starting point. This isnt going to be a Total War: Halo kind of game this is Halo Wars taken to the next stage.
