If you choose to plug this controller in via USB, you will need this driver. If you do not wish to connect the controller via USB, then you do not need this driver. Any problems with game compatibility in Bluetooth mode are completely out of our control and are up to you to solve in conjunction with the game developer.

How To Connect An Xbox Controller To A Pc Or Mobile Device Using Bluetooth

The first generation Elite controllers also do not have Bluetooth. If your controller does not fall into the above example, then you should be good to go.

How To Use Xbox 360 Controller On Xbox One
To connect the Xbox 360 controller to your PC, you will first need to establish a wired connection between the two. The conventional controller that comes out of the box with your Xbox 360 is a wireless one, so you are going to have to invest in a wireless adaptor before you can establish the connection.
The PC needs to be using Windows 10, and you need to make sure that both of the devices are connected on the same Wi-Fi network. Just check the Wi-Fi settings on your device and on your Xbox One to confirm the Wi-Fi connection.

IMPORTANT !!! Please read before installing HIDGuardian !!!!!! DO NOT delete HIDGuardian from Windows OS Device Manager. This can result in loosing access to your Mouse and Keyboard !!!
Purpose of HIDGuardian is to hide original controllers from games, so that only virtual controllers are visible. Install HIDGuardian only if original controller prevents virtual controller functioning properly in the game.
Install: Run Xbox 360 Controller Emulator as an Administrator Options tab HID Guardian tab HID Guardian Install button.
Uninstall: Run Xbox 360 Controller Emulator as an Administrator Options tab HID Guardian tab HID Guardian Uninstall button.
DO NOT attempt to removeHIDGuardian by simply deleting it from Windows OS Device Manager. This can result in loosing access to your Mouse and Keyboard and you will be forced to follow Manual Uninstall Instructions below.
Troubleshooting Tips If Your Xbox Controller Isn’t Connecting
Though the sync button attempts to make things as easy as possible, it might not work every time. If so, run through the following troubleshooting tips:
- If you are connecting a controller wirelessly, and the Xbox button doesn’t blink when pressed, make sure you hold it down for a few more seconds – it won’t sync straight away.
- It sounds obvious, but make sure it has enough battery life remaining. Also, make sure the batteries are properly connected it’s surprisingly easy to get the polarity of the respective batteries the wrong way round, so it’s worth double checking.
- If you have waited too long to connect the controller after pressing the sync button, it will stop syncing, so double check it is still flashing as you are trying to connect when trying again.
- For PC and mobile devices, remember some Xbox controllers will not have Bluetooth support, and require a dedicated official dongle. Also, though the Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S are compatible with controllers from either generation, they are not compatible with the Xbox 360 controller.
- If connecting with a cable, Xbox controllers have different connectors according to the generation – Xbox One’s uses a USB Micro, while the Xbox Series X / S uses a USB-C connector – so make sure you have the correct one to hand.
- If devices still aren’t finding one another, make sure your devices are fully up to date and running the latest firmware.

Which Xbox Controllers Can You Use With Android Devices
You can use two different Xbox controllers with your Android devices: Xbox Wireless Controllers and Xbox 360 controllers. The former are controllers made for Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X consoles.
Newer Xbox Wireless Controllers, particularly the Bluetooth ones, will be the easiest to use with your Android device. We cannot fix game specific issues. This driver does its absolute best to put out a standardized format for games to use. If they don’t take advantage of that, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING we can do. The best we can do for you is give you the “Pretend to be an Xbox 360 Controller” option in the “Advanced” tab. This will make any wired Xbox 360 or wired Xbox One controller appear to games as if it were an official Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller. That way if the game is only looking for Xbox 360 controllers and isn’t looking for other devices like third party Xbox 360 controllers or Xbox One controllers, you should be able to trick the game. If you experience an issue with a game that this toggle does not fix, we cannot help you, sorry. That is just the nature of drivers.
