Why Are Your Xbox One Notifications Not Working

How to Turn off Notifications Xbox One Tutorial

Here are the most common reasons why your Xbox One app might not be working:

  • Your Notifications Are Turned Off: Your Xbox One app may have been configured in a manner that has disabled the notifications. As such, its advised that you check the settings to ensure if the notifications have been disabled from the settings menu itself.
  • The Focus Assist: Know that the Focus Assist feature of Windows has been made to prevent unnecessary intrusions when users are engaged in some tasks. So this can sometimes fail the Xbox One app notifications. The solution to this one is simple. You should try temporarily disabling the Focus Assist feature and then check if doing so fixes the issue.
  • A Full-Screen Glitch: Some apps like Spotify can prevent you from getting notifications in the full-screen mode. As such, I advise that you use the Xbox app in the Windowed mode for this. Want to know how to do that? Then read on our solution section.
  • A Misconfigured Application: Sometimes, the app could be improperly configured. So I advise you to check if this is preventing the notifications from passing through. If this indeed turns out to be the case, then reset it to the default settings.
  • The Background Limits: Know that the PC gives some apps limited background usage powers. As such, this can obstruct them from successfully relaying the notifications.

Then, click the X button directly to the right of the notification. You can also swipe a notification to the right to dismiss it quickly with either touch or by clicking and dragging with the mouse.

If you don’t really don’t like notifications, you can clear the “Notifications on ” checkbox here and prevent your Xbox One from showing your notifications at all times.

How To Change The Position Of Game Achievement Notifications On Xbox Series X

If you like seeing game achievement alerts on your Xbox Series X|S, but you dont like their position, you can change that easily. To get started, power up your Xbox and navigate to Settings > Preferences > Notifications on your Xbox Series X|S.

On the Notifications settings page, select Default Notification Position.

The Default Notification Position preferences page divides your display into nine panes, of which six can be selected. You cant place the notification banners in the middle of the screen, but the three panes at the top and the three at the bottom are available to you.

Select one of these panes, which appear on the right side of the display. You can see a preview of a notification on the blurred image to the left of this settings page.

Once youve changed the default notification position, select Done to apply the changes.

The only caveat of this method is that some games might choose to alter the position of Xbox game achievements no matter what position you choose. However, in our experience, you wont have that issue with most games.
