Not so much because it’s free , but because it’s incredibly powerful, supports just about any piece of hardware, and the plugin library is vast. If you need to do something for your stream, you’re going to be able to do it with OBS Studio.
The same applies if you’re primarily an Xbox gamer, too. You don’t necessarily need a monstrous PC to power your stream, nor the world’s fastest internet connection. What you need is a capture card, a spare HDMI cable, and a few spare minutes to get set up.

Additional Audio And Video Sources
Adding video and audio sources to your streaming configuration allows for multi-level interaction with your audience, making your content more engaging. A microphone lets you add commentary to your stream or chat with your followers. Ideally, you should invest in a high-quality microphone instead of using the built-in mic of your earpods or webcam.
A webcam or camcorder lets you show your face while adding commentary to your stream. With a microphone signal input via your camera, you can embed the audio into the video as a single source, simplifying your streaming configuration.

How To Stream With Microphone And Camera On Twitch
Before you start a stream on Twitch from an Xbox One gaming console you can add a webcam and a microphone to your stream. If you have a Kinect sensor you can easily turn it into a webcam, but if you don’t, you can use any webcam that is compatible with a Windows PC and that has a USB port. However, you can only use third-party webcams if you are streaming to Mixer, while Kinect is still your only webcam option if you want to share broadcasts on Twitch.
Use the audio in or a USB port to connect the microphone to the Xbox One and head over to Twitch App. Bring up the Settings menu and make sure that the Enable Microphone box is checked, and then check the Enable Kinect option. And that’s it, your microphone and Kinect Sensor are going to record audio and video footage during your stream.
Fortnite, Overwatch or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds are currently among the most popular video games on Twitch, and you can stream each of these games from your Xbox One. Even though setting up your first live stream from an Xbox can be a bit time-consuming, it is still a relatively simple process that will enable you to broadcast all of your favorite Xbox One video games to the largest live streaming platform on the Internet.

Connect And Set Up Your Devices
You can use any regular webcam with an Xbox One, and you can also use external microphones and headsets. Connect everything to your Xbox, and make sure the microphone and webcam are enabled in the settings. Youll also want to fine-tune some other settings, so go to Settings > Account > Privacy and Online Safety > Xbox Live Privacy > View Details and Customize, and then:
- Go to Game Content and allow the You can broadcast gameplay and You can share content made using Kinect or another camera options.
- In Online Status and History, select Everybody under Others can see if youre online.
Its also worth noting that the only way to stream video from an Xbox One to Twitch is with a Kinect. The console and Twitch app do not support external cameras, so if you dont have a Kinect, your stream will have to be audio and gameplay only.

How To Stream Xbox Series X With Lightstream
The new Xbox supports all the Xbox apps you know and love, including Lightstream. Lightstream is a cloud-based software that offers streaming tools for broadcasting live gaming on Twitch and other various platforms. Note that Lightstream has free and paid plans, and the cheapest paid plan is about $8 per month.
If you choose to stream from your Xbox Series X with Lightstream, heres how to do it:
Which Codec Should You Use
A codec compresses and decompresses video so the data doesnt clog the internet highways like a hairball in a drain. If your computer has an NVIDIA or AMD graphics chip, select their codec first. However, a codec option may not even be available, as recent builds of RECentral 4 automatically select the appropriate codec and dont present additional options.
Step 12: Check the box next to Enable Streaming Backup if you want to use this feature. This records and saves your stream. If you enable this feature, choose a quality: Same as Recording or Same as Streaming.
Step 13: Set the Audio and External Audio levels and adjust the Play/Record volume.

Adding Overlays To Your Xbox Twitch Stream
Once you get the hang of streaming on the Xbox, its time to add some style and professionalism to your broadcasts. If you want to stand out and build a loyal audience, you need personal branding. You need overlays.
Overlays are graphics that appear over your gameplay feed. Some display critical stream information, like recent stream events or the names of your most loyal supporters. Others are there for artistic purposes applying consistent, professional branding across your channel. Most overlays are available in unique design themes and can be customized to fit your needs.
If you want to add overlays to your stream , you have two main options:
Preparing For Your Twitch Video Stream
After setting up your stream, select the Stream tab to the right of the Record tab. Then, click on the check box above the Twitch icon. If you want to stream to multiple platforms, such as YouTube and Facebook, you can check these icons as well.
Click on Login below the streaming platforms icons and follow the on-screen instructions to sign in to your Twitch account and enable the streaming session. After you sign in and authorize your Twitch account, the software will automatically retrieve the stream key you need to broadcast your feed on Twitch.
Once youve signed in to your Twitch account, click on the gear icon on the top right of your screen. Then, select the server you want to use and enter your videos title.
Next, you need to set your recording options from the drop-down menus in the Record tab, including the video resolution and framerate. If you want to share your videos URL to your social media, copy it from this window below the video framerate drop-down menu.
Configure Your Stream Inputs and Overlays
Before going live, you need to include your additional audio and video sources and add overlays, such as your logo.
At the bottom of the Stream tab, youll find webcam, microphone, and overlay buttons. Start with the webcam button to configure your cam feed, including its source, size, and location. Under Webcam Settings, you can use the chroma key function to replace and customize your webcams background.
