For on-the-go Xbox gaming, download the Xbox app for your Android or iOS device, sign in, and connect a controller to your phone. An Xbox One controller will do nicely, especially paired with a foldable clip, though you can also use mobile controllers designed for iPhones, iPads, and Android devices like the Gamevice.

From the Xbox app on your phone or tablet, tap the Connection icon in the upper-right cornerit’s the one that looks like an Xbox with radio waves coming out of it . Tap the console in question, then choose Remote Play on This Device to start a remote session. Remember, the closer you are to the router, the better your experience will be over Wi-Fi.

    Note that the Series X may have one or two quirks at this time as well, though in my experience it can vary from game to game. Forza Horizon 4, for example, currently has a bug when streaming from the the Series X where moving the joystick also presses the corresponding D-Pad button. Other users report audio crackling when streaming with the latest Xboxes.;

While it is now physically possible to stream from your new console to a mobile device, it hasnt been perfected yet. Hopefully, Microsoft and developers will continue to improve the experience as they roll out more streaming support for the Series X and S.

How To Stream Music And Video To Xbox One From Windows

If your Xbox One is the center of your entertainment in your living room, sometimes you might want to stream music or video to it thats on your PC.

This was the case with Xbox 360 and Windows too, where you could set up the Windows Media Center extender;or use the Play To feature in Windows 7, also;included in Windows 8 and Windows 10.

How To Set Up Obs Studio For Streaming To Twitch

Twitch has a number of requirements for video being broadcast to the platform. As a rule, here’s what you will be aiming for.

    • Max bitrate: 6,000 kbps
    • Max frame rate: 60 FPS
    • Rate control: CBR
    • Keyframe interval: 2

Of course, this is all dependent on your PC hardware and your internet connection. If you don’t have the spare bandwidth for 6,000 kbps, for example, then you can’t use that bitrate. You’ll need to lower that as required based on your connection.

Likewise, if you don’t have a CPU that can encode a 1080p60 stream, you’ll have to make sacrifices there, as well. It’s important to remember that if you’re just starting out you won’t have transcoding on your Twitch account, either, so you might want to lower to 900p or 720p and a lower bitrate to ensure your viewers have a good time as well.

But how do you plug all of these settings into OBS? It’s all done in the Settings menu under the Output and Video tabs.

Microsoft keeps moving away from the Xbox console as the only way to play its games. Further going in that direction, the company announced that it has made it so you can stream Xbox games through the Windows 10 PC Xbox App.

Launching Games From The Xbox App

Once you’re streaming, you can launch games and apps from the Xbox One dashboard. The display that you would normally see on your television will still appear on the television, but it will also be mirrored on your PC monitor, tablet, or laptop screen. This allows you to navigate the Xbox dashboard, and launch games, as you normally would.

If you prefer to launch a game directly from your PC to get right into the action, that’s also an option.

  • Launch the Xbox app.

  • This will automatically connect to the console and start streaming if everything is set up correctly.

Check Xbox Play Anywhere Compatibility First

Many games distributed on the Microsoft Store support Xbox Play Anywhere. That means any compatible game you purchase is playable on both platforms, no additional game purchase required. That also means your save data synchronizes between Windows 10 and the Xbox console.

For instance, if you purchased Gears of War 4 through the Microsoft Store, its made available on both Windows 10 and Xbox One. Start the game on one and continue on the other. Theres no streaming required.

However, Microsoft doesnt include a dedicated Xbox Play Anywhere section in the Microsoft Store. Searching for games using the play anywhere term produces mixed results. Instead, check the list of compatible games on Microsofts website to see if your favorite falls under the Xbox Play Anywhere banner. Microsoft has been expanding this program over the last few months. As of early 2021, there are 168 titles with the feature.

Xbox Cloud Streaming Is Now Available In The Windows App

Xbox One game streaming to Windows 10 PCs goes live for ...

Microsoft announced on Monday that its cloud streaming service, Xbox Cloud Gaming, is playable in the Xbox Windows app starting today. Xbox Cloud Gaming first became available on PC in late June, but only via web browser. Now you can launch it from the same Xbox app used to browse and launch Game Pass games.

The Cloud Gaming beta is available in the Xbox app if you’re an Xbox Insider member and have a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. You also have to live in one of the 22 countries that the streaming service has launched in so far, which currently includes the US, Canada and UK, but not Australia.

Cloud Gaming currently requires a controller connected via Bluetooth or USB, but hopefully at some point in the future it will also support mouse and keyboard. There are plenty of games on Game Pass like Grounded or Sea of Thieves well-suited to PC controls.

The games are streamed at 1080p, 60 fps from data centers running customized Xbox Series X hardware, and the biggest draw is that they can load up your save file from whatever Microsoft device you’ve previously played on. If you’ve blasted halfway through Doom Eternal on Game Pass on your desktop, for example, you can now stream it from the cloud to a laptop in the Xbox app and pick up where you left off.
