1.) So first up, make sure the Xbox One is connected to your home network, either via wired or wireless connection.

2.) Head to the Music tab through the Xbox Live store and download the Xbox Music app, located right above a specified advertisement.

3.) Head to the Video tab through the Xbox Live store and download the Xbox Video app, located right above a specified advertisement.

4.) Head into the Preferences option through the user settings menu. Make sure that the PlayTo streaming option is checked.

6.) Add a device. The Xbox One OS should be an available UPnP option.

Enjoy Your Xbox Games On Pc

While Xbox Game Streaming can be used to help you stream your Xbox Series X|S console to your PC, the process is quite awkward due to the lack of official support from Microsoft.

Luckily, there are other ways you can stream your Xbox console directly to your PC, including using the Xbox One console and the official Xbox Companion app.

How To Use Xbox Game Bar

To capture your Remote Play footage, you can use Microsofts Xbox Game bar app. Its free for download on the Microsoft Store, but you may already have it on your Windows 10 or 11 PC.

Game Bar can capture footage from any app and share the footage with multiple platforms. In summary, Game Bar can take screenshots, capture video, capture video audio, and capture mic audio.

To use the Xbox Game bar, open it by pressing the Windows Key + G. Then, take a screenshot or record the footage. The app also has a sound menu where you can choose to enable your mic audio.

Once you capture video and audio, your PC will save it automatically on your default Videos folder.

Download The Display App On The Windows Store To Your Pc

Once your Xbox is set up on your TV and has the blue screen prompted, head to your PC. Youll need to open the Microsoft Store and search for the Wireless Display app. Youll need around 5mb of free space on your PC to install it. You can do the same search, typing in display in the search bar to bring up the official app.

Stream Xbox Games To Your Pc

To play your Xbox games on a laptop or desktop, you can stream them through the pre-installed Xbox Console Companion on Windows 10. Unfortunately, this only supports Xbox One consoles for the time being, so owners of the latest Xbox Series X and S are out of luck for now. However, Microsoft is currently working on a new app that will support both xCloud and local streaming from the new consoles.

Open the app and select the Connection option near the bottom of the left sidebar. . You should see your Xbox listed in the main window click on it and power it on, if it isn’t already running, and then click the Stream button to begin playing. You’ll want an Xbox controller hooked up to your PC as well.

If you need to adjust the streaming quality, head to Xbox Console Companion’s Settings in the sidebar, click the Xbox One tab, and change the Video Encoding Level. Microsoft recommends Low if you’re on a 2.4GHz wireless network, Medium if you’re on a 5GHz wireless network but far away from your devices, or High if you’re on Wi-Fi with a very strong connection. If you’re connected over Ethernet, try Very High for the full 1080p/60fps experience.

Cast Media From Windows 10 To Xbox One

For music and videos, you will need to install the Movies & TV and Groove Music apps on your Xbox One. If you dont have them already, you will be prompted to install it on your console.

To stream individual local files, browse to the location of the video you want to play. Right-click on it and choose Cast to Device and then Xbox One from the context menu.

Once the video starts playing on your Xbox, you will get a small Windows Media Player screen come up. There you can add more files that you want to play including photos or music. Youll also have basic playback controls for the music or video thats playing.

Depending on the media you cast to the Xbox, the appropriate app will open to play it. For example, if you play a video file, Movies & TV launches or for an MP3, Groove Music will launch. You can also control the media playback using your Xbox controller.

You can also stream content directly from the Movie & TV or Groove app from your PC to Xbox. For example, launch the Movies & TV app on your PC and start playing a video. Click the ellipsis icon in the lower-right corner of the screen and click Cast to Device and then select your Xbox One.
