What Will I Need To Stream From Xbox One To Twitch
If you already have an Xbox One, Xbox One S or Xbox One X and a TV set, you won’t need much more to start your first stream on Twitch. However, you’ll have to make sure that your console is connected to the Internet either through a wireless connection or a wired one. The console’s controller should be used to navigate through menus or to play a game.
You’ll have to that is compatible with all versions of Microsoft’s gaming console and if you don’t already have an account on Twitch, you’ll have to create one. You can use chat, webcams, headsets or microphones in your broadcasts, although you’ll have to enable each of these features before your live stream starts. The Kinect sensor or any webcam compatible with the Windows OS can be used to capture the footage of you commentating on the game you’re playing, but Kinect is still your only option as webcam if you want to broadcast live streams on Twitch. However, if you’re sharing your videos to Microsoft’s Mixer live streaming platform you can use any Windows compatible webcam.
If you want to use the Kinect Sensor on Xbox One S or Xbox One X you’ll have to get the Kinect adapter since the sensor is only compatible with the original Xbox One. As we already mentioned, the Microsoft’s gaming console lets you record audio while broadcasting, and you can either use the Xbox One Chat Headset that connects directly to the controller or a third-party microphone or a headset that can be connected through a standard audio jack.
Starting Your First Twitch Stream & Testing
The first time you stream from the Xbox One, you’ll be required to run some small tests to make sure everything is working properly and that the quality of the audio and visuals are as good as they can be. Here’s how to get everything set up.
Open the Xbox One game that you want to stream. You will not be able to stream to Twitch without a game being active. It’s okay if you open it and just leave it on its title screen. You don’t actually have to begin playing the game.
Return to your Xbox One dashboard and open the Twitch app. Click the Broadcast button on the lower-left side of the screen to reopen your Xbox One game and shrink the Twitch app to a small bar on the right side of the screen.
Click the Broadcast Title field and rename your Twitch broadcast. It can be anything you like. This is what your stream will be called on the Twitch website and in the apps.
Select Settings. You should see a preview of what your Twitch broadcast will look like in a small window at the top of the Twitch tab.
If you have your Kinect connected to your Xbox One, you will see a preview of what the Kinect sees within your stream window. If you wish, you can disable it by unchecking the Enable Kinect box. Reposition the Kinect camera within your stream by clicking on the relevant layout box onscreen.
Where Has The Broadcast Option Gone On Xbox One
Following Microsofts announcement that Mixer was closing down back in June, the Xbox Ones Broadcast option was removed.
The reason for this was because Mixer was owned by Microsoft, and so simply used your Xbox Live account details as your Mixer account. This allowed for players to literally press the Start Broadcasting option within the Capture menu from the Xbox menu button and start sharing their gameplay with friends and viewers around the world.
Due to Mixers shuttering or merging with Facebook, technically Microsoft has removed the option to begin broadcasting on Xbox One. Whether this will return once Microsoft and Facebooks partnership has developed remains to be seen.

Problems With Native Gaming App Streaming
While a streaming app can be an easy solution for someone looking to jump into a stream without any additional hassle, it has its setbacks.
Games on PlayStation for example can sometimes block streaming and recording entirely. Many companies, like Atlas and Bandai Namco , have included in-game functions that stop their titles from being streamed after a certain period of time.
Theres no real way to tell which parts of the game will be cut either, and streamers often find out the hard way. Theres also no way to disable it.
Managing Your Live Stream

While youre playing your game and streaming, its best to keep an eye on the chat room. Its recommended to have a secondary device next to you while youre playing, such as your smartphone, a tablet, or a laptop.
With your smartphone and tablet you can easily open up the app, and manage the chat from there. However, having a laptop by your side will be much easier since you can quickly navigate or fix certain things that you may have missed.
A great tool that Twitch actually provides is the Dashboard, which will look like this: www.twitch.tv/username-here/dashboard.
From this area, you can update your Go Live notification, the title of your stream, the game, your communities, and other resourceful widgets.
Dont forget that you can also use the bot commands youve set up with StreamElements to share any information your viewers may ask.
Another benefit of using StreamElements is the loyalty system. While watching your stream, viewers earn points that can be redeemed in your stream store, games and song request.
Finally, after youre done streaming, StreamElements will send you a Stream Report which shows a bunch of data that happened on your stream like followers, chatters, and revenue.

How To Stream Your Xbox One Gameplay Without A Capture Card
To begin, you need to enable streaming on your console. Go to Console Settings.
Next, navigate to Preferences – Xbox app connectivity.
For other devices enable streaming only from profiles signed in on this Xbox. Also, make sure to enable both streaming options on the right for this Xbox.
After doing that download and install an Xbox Console Companion App for your Windows computer. Log in to the same account you use on your console.
After logging in navigate to Connection and select your Xbox One. Press the Stream button on the top. A window with your console screen will be opened.
Note: You don’t have to connect Xbox Gamepad to your PC. If you have a warning – just click Continue to avoid latency issues.
Add this window to OBS as a Screen capture or Window capture in your main OBS Sources area.
Note: for the best quality, both devices should be connected to the same network with Ethernet cables. Having them connected over WiFi may result in a quality loss.
Thats It Youre Officially Streaming
The setting up stage is the hardest part because youre preparing everything and want it to look good. But once this is done, streaming from the console is super easy.
Dont get discouraged by the lack of equipment that you own, but see it as a stepping stone. Save up money if you really want to upgrade, and do it one thing at a time.
When you finally save enough money to upgrade to a PC, your loyal viewers will see your progression and will appreciate all your efforts that you took to improve your content and your channel.
Stick to a schedule, be yourself, and have fun! As long as youre going live on a consistent basis and interacting with your viewers, youre considered to be a streamer.

Choose the drive and browse to your media, just like you would on a computer.
From day one, Xbox One was already a force to be reckoned with, but it left a lot to be desired in the way of apps and functionality that we were used to seeing on Xbox 360. The apps continue to arrive, making it better and better. And with the addition of Media Player, it is officially an entertainment juggernaut.

The Main Issues With Capture Card Streaming
The first problem that comes with capture card streaming on Twitch is the cost.
Not only do you need a PC, but you also need to invest in the capture card itself. The Elgato costs more than $100 at retail, and a good PC could set you back hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
Theres also a level of experience needed to know how to stream on a PC and how to set up the look of your stream. Most of the basic information and guides for streaming with a capture card are available online, though. You can also find guides for each piece of broadcast software on Twitch.
Change Settings And Start Streaming

From here, select broadcast gameplay and youll be given an option to stream via three different streaming services. Select Twitch, and the service will provide you with a streaming key. Then, go to twitch.tv/activate and enter the key. Your PS4 will be ready to start streaming in a few moments, but lets change a few more settings first.
From the broadcast gameplay menu, you can change the title of your stream, the quality, and whether you want to use your camera and/or microphone. Once youre satisfied with your settings, hit start broadcasting and show your skills to the world!

What Goes Around Comes Around
Xbox users can once again stream to Twitch directly from the console dashboard, five years after Microsoft removed the feature.
Xbox announced the imminent return of Twitch integration in a blog post and promised that streaming Xbox games is now easier than ever.
Players simply need to press the Xbox home button, shift along to the “Capture and Share” tab, hit “Live Streaming”, and with just one further button press they’ll be live on Twitch.
An options menu allows users to edit the stream title, manage game and microphone audio levels, toggle party chat on and off, and manually set resolution and bitrate. The stream will automatically pause whenever the player switches games.
Microsoft removed Twitch integration from the Xbox One in 2017 in a bid to push its own streaming platform, Mixer, but despite a strong effort to draw people in – which included streaming powerhouse Ninja signing exclusivity to the platform – it was shut down in 2020 and its userbase shifted to Facebook Gaming.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer said at the time that making Mixer successful was an uphill battle from the beginning.
Twitch streaming from the Xbox One or Series consoles has been possible in the meantime, of course, through the Twitch app, but Xbox promises this new integration is the best way to stream from the platform.

How Do I Fix A Lag When Streaming From My Xbox To My Pc
Lag is bad for everyone, and gamers are bitter enemies of internet lag. It messes up aim, causes people to fall to their doom, and even forces players to disconnect, which might earn them a temporary ban from certain games.
To fix lag, you have a few options, such as:
Turn off other apps and downloads while playing
Apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Twitch severely affect internet performance, as they take up a lot of bandwidth. If you want a smooth connection, we recommend you only run the game and any other essential apps
Upgrade or add another router
Routers get overwhelmed, which is why a stronger model or adding another one in the home can help reduce lag. Routers need to process requests and having too many of them results in lag.
Check if theres malware
Sometimes, your computer might have some malware thats slowing things down. Windows Defender or antivirus software can easily root it out and delete it. This usually helps with network speeds.
Restart your router
Sometimes, all you need is to restart the router. Refreshing the connection often helps eliminate lag and improve latency.

If you have an Xbox, it goes without saying that the best experience is sitting on your couch in front of a big HDR TV with good gaming features. Microsoft has you covered with Remote Play, allowing you to stream games from your Xbox right to your phone, tablet, or PC.
It should be noted that this is different from Xbox Cloud Gaming , which streams games from Microsofts own servers to your device. Remote Play renders those games on your home Xbox to another device.
