How To Move Games From Xbox One To Xbox Series X Series S

With Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S supporting almost every title once playable on Xbox One, it’s easy to bring your existing installations across devices. It saves the need to redownload potentially dozens of titles on your new console, with relatively seamless transfer processes in place, depending on your setup.

The Xbox One and Xbox Series family provide two transfer options: a wireless network transfer and by using a physical external hard drive. The former allows you to copy over games quickly provided the consoles are on the same local network. But if you have a USB-connected drive to hand, it’s an easy plug and play process. You can even play backward compatible titles directly off the hard drive, allowing you to expand the Xbox Series X and Series S storage beyond that SSD.

Our guide on transferring games from Xbox One to Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S provides the full lowdown on how to move your games, unlocking the full benefits of the next generation.

    Using Your Xbox One Controller

Using a wired Xbox One controller on PC is as simple as it gets, if you don’t mind a tether. Plug your micro-USB cable into the controller and into a USB port on your PC. Windows should install the necessary driver, the Xbox Guide button in the center will light up, and you’re in business!

Windows version note: On Windows 10, you can connect up to eight Xbox One controllers, while on Windows 7 and Windows 8, you can connect up to four. On Windows 10, you can only have four controllers connected if you also connect an Xbox chat headset to the controller or two with the stereo headset. Audio throughput isn’t supported on Windows 7 and 8.

Troubleshooting note: the vast majority of micro-USB cables carry data no problem, but some manufacturers cheap out and produce cables that can only charge. If you’re using a random USB cable from a drawer and having trouble, try a different one.

Choose Your Power Mode And Automatic Update Settings

There are two modes to choose from during setup: instant-on mode gives you faster startup time, lets you instantly resume your games and automatically downloads updates, but draws around 12W and may have a little fan noise. The energy-saving mode uses much less power, but it will take longer to wake the console and you wont be able to instantly resume games.

If you change your mind later, you can find these options in the Settings app under System | Updates and under Power & Startup | Power Mode & Startup.

Control Your Xbox Via Voice With Alexa

How to Setup 4K & HDR on your Xbox One S Console & Samsung TV

If you’ve got an Alexa-enabled smart speaker, use it to voice-control the Xbox One when it’s part of your smart home setup. On Xbox One go to Settings > Kinect & devices > Digital assistants, and check the box for Enable digital assistants. Then install the Xbox skill for Alexa. When prompted by the skill , enter your Microsoft account credentials. Pair the console to your Alexa account and start talking.

The standard commands start with “Alexa, tell Xbox to…” or “Alexa, ask Xbox to…” and then you can add pause, resume, volume up, volume down, turn off, launch , or try “Alexa, ask Xbox what I can say” for more feedback. If the Xbox is part of your smart home setup, you can skip the “tell” or “ask” part and speak more naturally to at least pause, resume, turn off, or adjust volume. Here’s the full list of commands.

Best of all, if the Xbox One is the only media player you’ve got going on your Alexa mobile app, the smart speaker knows your follow-up commands are usually for the Xbox alone, so you can try saying just “Alexa, pause” or “Alexa, play”

Can’t Setup My Brand New Xbox One S It’s Stuck In A Loop Of The Initial Green Screen And Restarting Back To It

So as the title says, I just pulled it out of the box and connected everything before getting this issue and I can’t seem to find my exact problem in any troubleshooting guide. It doesn’t turn off after reaching the green screen, playing the sound effect, and flashing the logo. It’s stuck in a loop of restarting and going back to the screen before restarting again. I’ve tried the power plug in a surge protector with other things plugged in, in the same surge protector by itself, and even in its own wall outlet and it’s had the same problem every time. I’d appreciate any help and tips. Thanks a lot.

Part 1 Of 3: Making The Connections

  • 1Locate the connections. Xbox One has several connections to the unit which will need to be made first. These include the new Kinect sensor, Internet connection, and your set-top box if you wish to view your cable TV shows through the Xbox One.
  • 2Connect to the Internet. Before you do anything, one thing you have to be sure of is that your console is connected to the Internet. You can do a wired connection by using an Ethernet cable to connect it to your Internet source or you can also connect wirelessly if you have a wifi router available.
  • 3Connect to your TV. Use an HDMI cable to connect your Xbox One to your TV. Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT port at the rear portion of the Xbox One. The other end of the HDMI cable goes in the HDMI input of your TV. If you have cable or satellite TV, you can connect another HDMI cable into your consoles HDMI IN port and the other end goes to your set-top box for cable or satellite TV.
  • 4Connect the Kinect sensor. Connect your Kinect into the Kinect port at the back of the Xbox One. It is the port in between the USB ports and IR port.
  • The Kinect sensor cable has a fixed length of 3 meters so make sure that your Kinect sensor is close enough to your Xbox One.
  • The Xbox Ones LED on the power supply should light up as an indication that theres power.
