There is a thrill to unboxing an Xbox One S and even more so with setting it up. Here is a quick and easy to follow guide on how to set up your Xbox One S console:

Microsoft understood that it wouldnt be possible to convince people into placing it in the intended manner, thus they improved upon their device. Xbox One S can be placed horizontally as well as vertically.

2] Use HDMI cable to connect console to HDTV. Please connect the HDMI cable, which is a part of the package to the Xboxs HDMI port which is at the back of your console. The other end of the cable should be connected to the HDMI input of your TV. As a safety precaution, make sure that the cables dont get in contact with the console. Plug the power cord into the back of the Xbox One S console. The other end should be plugged into the electrical outlet.

Xbox One S can be connected to the TV through a set-top box as well. You could use an HDMI able for the same.

Once the connections are done, we could begin with the digital setup part.

9] Choose automatic updates. You can select the type of automatic updates to receive on your console.

Control Your Xbox Via Voice With Cortana

It makes sense that Cortana, Microsoft’s voice assistant tech, would control the Xbox. In fact, Cortana is baked in under Settings > System > Cortana settings. You must have a headset with a microphone to use it . Say “Hey, Cortana” to get her attention. She’s especially handy in-game for taking screenshots, issuing other commands, or for speech-to-text when filling in forms.

If Cortana on Xbox starts acting wonky, such as saying “Sorry, I didn’t hear anything” even though she obviously heard you enough to activate, go back into settings and turn her off, restart, then turn her back on again .

Getting Your Cable Tv Or Satellite Installed On Xbox One

Begin by going into the TV & OneGuide settings and choosing Devices. This will take you back into the three option page. Select Cable or Satellite Box Model. This will bring up search box. Type in the company you receive your cable or satellite through. For example, if you have AT&T U-verse, simply type in AT&T. This will send a power-on signal to your cable or satellite box. Since you are paying attention to the Xbox One screen, listen for your cable/satellite box to activate, or look to see if it powers on. If it does, accepting this will gain the link between your Xbox One and your cable or satellite hardware.

It should be noted that using your TV app with an unlisted cable provider, such as CenturyLink’s Prizm, may cause a disruption with the app itself. Please contact Microsoft before trying to set up your cable if your cable company is not easily accessible on the OneGuide set-up hub.

Now, go into the OneGuide settings under TV & OneGuide. You will need to enter TV lineup. Punch in your zip code and once again choose your cable or satellite provider. This will bring up a list of all of your channels. You may also allow for Microsoft to monitor what you watch for research purposes.

    Control Your Xbox Via Voice With Alexa

    If you’ve got an Alexa-enabled smart speaker, use it to voice-control the Xbox One when it’s part of your smart home setup. On Xbox One go to Settings > Kinect & devices > Digital assistants, and check the box for Enable digital assistants. Then install the Xbox skill for Alexa. When prompted by the skill , enter your Microsoft account credentials. Pair the console to your Alexa account and start talking.

    The standard commands start with “Alexa, tell Xbox to…” or “Alexa, ask Xbox to…” and then you can add pause, resume, volume up, volume down, turn off, launch , or try “Alexa, ask Xbox what I can say” for more feedback. If the Xbox is part of your smart home setup, you can skip the “tell” or “ask” part and speak more naturally to at least pause, resume, turn off, or adjust volume. Here’s the full list of commands.

    Best of all, if the Xbox One is the only media player you’ve got going on your Alexa mobile app, the smart speaker knows your follow-up commands are usually for the Xbox alone, so you can try saying just “Alexa, pause” or “Alexa, play”

    Stream Games To Windows Pc/tablet

    The Xbox One is basically a fancy Windows box for gaming. Microsoft underscores that with the ability to easily stream games from the console to your PCs or tablets running Windows 10.

    Go into Settings > Preferences > Xbox app connectivity and under Other Devices, select Allow Connections from Any device. Under This Xbox, check Allow Game Streaming to Other Devices so your Windows 10 machine can get access.

    On the Windows 10 machine, launch the Xbox Console Companion app from the Windows Store. On the left, select Connections ; on the pop-up you should see the name of the Xbox One on the same network. Once I clicked it, the app showed me what was playing on my Xbox downstairs. By connecting an Xbox controller to the Windows 10 PC, either wired or wireless, you can take control and start playing games right on the PC.

    If you’re among the Xbox One faithful and wondering how you can squeeze every last drop of digital delight out of Microsoft’s console, try these tips and tricks.

    Microsoft doesn’t like to talk about how many Xbox One consoles it has sold. That’s probably because Redmond’s initial projection of 200 million units sold is nowhere near close to fruition even six years later; by the end of 2017, shipments were reportedly around 29.4 million.

    That’s a far cry from the 100 million PlayStation 4 consoles sold. As of April 2019, even the Nintendo Switch was at 34.74 million consoles in the wild. But 30 million is still a lot of Xbox users, and the console’s updates have only made it better.

    If you’re among the Xbox One faithful and wondering how you can squeeze every last drop of digital delight out of the console, we put together this list of features you may be missing out on.

    What Are The Best Xbox One Kodi Builds

    A Kodi build is a simple way to install a preset version of Kodi that comes with add-ons. These builds usually have unique skins and have been designed to provide added ease of use for people who want access to specific content.

    The problem with a pre-configured build of Kodi is that it may install add-ons that include copyrighted content, and, if you don’t realize this is the case, watching that content could cause you to break the law. This is why it’s always much safer to use a VPN when experimenting with Kodi builds.;

    Generally speaking, we recommend that you stick to the official version of Kodi that is available in the Xbox store. From there you can have full control over the repos and addons you install, so you’ll know exactly what is on your system.;

    For those who are interested in Kodi builds, however, we have included a list of the most popular ones below:

    How To Connect Your Headphones To The Xbox One

    How to SETUP the Xbox One S Console for Beginners

    This part is super simple as long as you’re using the more recent versions of the Xbox One controller. These have the 3.5mm headset jack in the bottom, and so to use them, all you have to do is plug the headphones into the controller.

    If you’re using a first-generation Xbox One controller, there is, unfortunately, no headphone jack. As such, you’ll need to invest in a Stereo Headset Adapter. It connects to the bottom of your controller with your headphones hooking up to the bottom of the adapter.

    You also get added handy features like volume adjust, chat/game audio mix adjust, and a big old mute button. Even on the later versions of the Xbox One controller , you can gain a fair bit from using one of these.

    The official Microsoft one is no longer sold new, although well-known headset maker Turtle Beach has an excellent alternative.
