How To Play Fortnite In Split Screen On Playstation
Youll need a spare controller, and a secondary PlayStation Network account saved on your system to initiate the split screen mode in Fortnite.
Launch the game with your primary PlayStation Network account and create either a duo or squad lobby since these are the only two modes youll be able to play on split screen.
Once you set up the lobby, turn on the second controller, and select your spare PlayStation Network account when the system asks you, Who is using this controller?
After you select your user, a small menu item should appear on your screens bottom right corner. The option should prompt you to press and hold X to log in as player two. Doing so will launch Fortnite once again, and the game will ask you to link an account if you havent already.
If the second player has a Fortnite account of their own, theyll need to enter the code that appears on your screen by navigating to Epic Games activation page and logging into their account. We recommend completing this process via a phone or tablet since it can be hard to navigate around PlayStations browser.

Unfortunately, theres no solid answer for when split-screen will return to Fortnite. However, as mentioned previously, the removal isnt permanent and is simply due to technical issues.
Although fans are loving Chapter 3 Season 1, there have been a lot of server issues since the launch earlier today. The official Fortnite Twitter account responded to the outage stating that it was the biggest Chapter launch in the games history.

This would lead to an unfair advantage in a battle royale, as two people on the same couch could coordinate their attacks together and effectively work as a team against all the other single players. For that reason, Solo Mode is not compatible with split-screen play. Youll also be unable to play in Creative mode or Team Rumble.
Instead, youll be stuck with either Squads or Duos mode. These are the only two modes that work when two players are using the same console, and theres no word from Epic Games on whether this will change in the future.
You might also want to consider that:
- The split-screen session will end if one player disconnects, even if the other player stays logged in.
- You wont see each others lobby or menu because screen sharing only starts when a match is in session.
- Players will not share an inventory.
- Both players have to select the same language setting because split-screen cant handle multiple languages.
