Build The End Portal Frame
Pick the spot you would like to make the end portal and lay down 3 end portal frames to make the first side.
Then still standing in the same spot, turn to your right and lay down 3 more end portal frames to complete the second side.
Pivot again and lay down 3 more end portal frames for the third side. Finally, pivot again and lay down the last 3 end portal frames to complete the 4 sides of the frame.
Make sure that the green tabs on the end portal frames are pointing towards the center of the frame. If they aren’t pointed towards the center, the portal won’t activate.
Killing The Ender Dragon
There are two parts to the Ender Dragon fight.
The first part involves taking down glowing End Crystals sitting atop Obsidian towers. Some will have metal cages around them. Use your Dirt blocks to elevate yourself up the towers. From the dirt tower you make, youll be able to aim up and into the End Crystal cage from the corner. Place your cursor on top of the crystal and smash away. The remaining End Crystals with no cages can be broken using bow and arrows. Any crystals that are too hard to shoot can be destroyed by building Dirt block towers to get an easier shot, but keep in mind that if you are on top of the tower when the End Crystal is destroyed, you will take a lot of damage. Try to be far from the tower when the End Crystal is destroyed.
After all the End Crystals are broken, the Ender Dragon will fly down, allowing you to jump and slice at its tail. It will eventually fly back up into the air, at which point you can fire arrows to damage it.
While this is happening, the Ender Dragon will shoot fireballs at you, so make sure to listen carefully and dodge them accordingly. The dragon may also launch you in the air, which is why you want buckets of water or Potions of Slow Falling with you.
When the Ender Dragon dies, a portal will open up, allowing you to leave the End.
Youll also get a ton of player experience and a Dragon Egg will drop, which you can place anywhere as a trophy for your achievement.
How Do You Find And Activate An End Portal In Minecraft
Once you find or make an End Portal, you’ll need to activate it. Here’s how to do both:
Collect 12 Ender Pearls. Defeat Endermen, or give Gold Ingots to Piglins in the Nether. Clerics in villages will sometimes trade Ender Pearls for Emeralds.
Craft 12 Blaze Powders out of 6 Blaze Rods. You can make 2 Blaze Powders at a time. To get Blaze Rods, defeat Blazes in the Nether.
Make a Crafting Table out of 4 Wood Planks, then set it on the ground and open it.
Craft at least 12 Eyes of Ender. To make an Eye of Ender, place Blaze Powder in the first box of the middle row and an Ender Pearl in the center of the grid.
You need up to 12 Eyes to activate the portal, but it’s helpful to craft a few extra for the next step.
Equip an Eye of Ender and throw it. The Eye of Ender will fly into the sky, then fall back to the ground. Look up to see where it goes and try to catch it, then throw it again. Keep throwing until it keeps landing in the same spot to find a stronghold.

Build An End Portal: Make Another End Portal
Youll know youre able to cross over to the other side if you see a black void. This also lets you know that you built a strong portal congratulations! After you cross the void, youll automatically be moved to the End biome. Depending on your preference, you can either start exploring the space, or if youre feeling adventurous, fight the Endragon a second time.
Once youve experienced all the End biome has to offer, you can easily construct another portal. Since youve now figured out how to do this successfully, youll be able to make a new one in no time. After you create this new portal, youll be transported to your spawn point in the Overworld dimension.
Sadly, you cannot travel to the End city using an End Portal after youre already inside the Overworld territory. However, it is possible to get into the End City or End Ship by accessing the End Gateway after preparing the Ender Pearls. Once youve achieved this, you can create another portal that will transport you out of End City and back to your home.

How To Find An End Portal
End Portals generate in a deactivated form in underground structures called Strongholds. While its possible to run into strongholds purely by random chance, theres a much more reliable way to find them. And that is through the use of Eyes of Ender. Eyes of Ender can be crafted with one ender pearl and one piece of blaze powder. Ender pearls are dropped by Endermen, and blaze powder is crafted out of blaze rods dropped by Blazes in Nether Fortresses. Youll need at least a few of these to both find and activate the portal, so make around 15 20 just to be safe.
Build Your Nether Portal
The frame requires a total of 14 obsidian blocks. Once its built, ignite any obsidian block side facing inward.
Step 1:Place four obsidian blocks on the ground.
Step 2:Stack four obsidian blocks on the left block currently on the ground. This creates a column of five blocks.
Step 3:Stack four obsidian blocks on the right block currently on the ground. This creates a column of five blocks.
Step 4:Connect the two columns using two obsidian blocks.
Step 5:Move your flint and steel or fire charge from your inventory down to the Hotbar and select it.
Step 6:Perform the following to ignite the portal:
- PC Right-click on the inner side of any obsidian block.
- Console Select the inner side of any obsidian block and press the left trigger button.

A. To find a stronghold you will have to throw an Eye of Ender in the air. When you throw an Eye of Ender you will see it go in a certain direction, hover in the air, then drop to the ground. This will be the way you need to go, you will need to follow this direction until the Eye of Enders you throw in the air continually hover over one spot this indicates where you must now dig down.
It should be mentioned that the Eye of Enders has a chance of breaking when thrown in the air, so you will most likely need a few to find a stronghold.
Once youre inside the stronghold you will have to do a bit of looking around as the End Portal will be somewhere inside, upon finding the End Portal you will have to fill in the missing Eye of Enders as discussed above in this guide.
How Do You Make An End Portal In Minecraft
In Creative Mode, you can build your own End Portal. You can’t craft the frame pieces, but you can search for them on the inventory screen.
Open the inventory screen and add 12 Eyes of Ender and 12 End Portal Frames to your hotbar.
Place the End Portal Frame. There must be three blocks on each side, as depicted below.
They must be placed properly, with the green marks facing toward the center. Stand in the middle and build the portal around you to ensure the proper placements.

Build A Nether Portal: Create Flint And Steel
This is what you need to light the obsidian frame and create the Nether Portal. Here you need two types of ore: Iron and gravel. With gravel, just mine it with anything including your hand until flint appears. Iron ore must be smelted in the Furnace to create iron ingots.
Step 1:Open your Furnace.
Step 2:Place iron ore into the top square.
Step 3:Place fuel into the bottom square, including wood, charcoal, and coal basically, anything that burns.
Step 4:Drag the resulting iron ingot down into your inventory.
Note: As shown above, you can place more than one iron ore and one fuel into the Furnace at once to create multiple iron ingots in a single sitting. The Furnace will continue smelting until one or all resources are depleted or you close the Furnace.
Next, with flint and iron ingots now in your inventory, you can make the flint and steel tool.
Step 5:Open your Crafting Table.
Step 6:Place one iron ingot into the top square in the left column.

Add The Eye Of Ender To Finish The End Portal
Once you have created the frame, your next step is to complete the End Portal. To do this, you simply need to add the 12 Eyes of Ender. Add the Ender Eyes inside each of the end portal frame blocks by standing in the middle of the portal.
However, you don’t have to add the 12th one as you stand in the middle. This is because it will activate the End Portal and transport you to the End biome. So, make sure that you step out before placing the last Eye of Ender.

- Gunpowder Obtained by killing a Creeper or opening chests.
- Coal Mined from coal ore, which you can find from 4 to 15 blocks under the surface.

Building The End Portal
Once launched into creative Minecraft, find a comfortable spot to build the End Portal. You can build it anywhere so long as the space allows.
First, you need the End Portal. Open your Inventory. Click the Search Items tab, located at the top far right of your Inventory. Search for End Portal Frame and equip it to one of the slots. The End Portal Frame is also located in Decoration Blocks, the top-2nd tab in your Inventory.
The End Portal is essentially a ring with 3 blocks on each side. You should be able to build the portal while standing in place, while rotating to build all 4 sides. To start, place 3 End Portal Frames next to each other, like the picture above.
Next, turn and place 3 more end frames in a straight line to construct the second side. Notice that one space is empty between both sides. See picture above.
Turn again and place 3 more end frames in a straight line to construct the third side. Leave an empty space. See picture above.
Finally, turn and place the last 3 end frames to fully connect the portal. See picture above for the completed frame.
Making The End Portal
Once you’ve reached the portal room, you’re almost done. For safety, fill in all the lava and destroy the monster spawner. This will prevent any unfortunate accidents.
At the top of the staircase is the broken End Portal. The portal’s entire frame is there, but a number of Eyes of Ender will be missing. Carefully fill in all the missing pegs with Eyes of Ender to activate the structure.
Once you’ve placed all the pearls, you’ll hear a loud booming sound, and darkness will fill the portal. Once you jump in, you’ll be taken to The End, and the final boss, the Ender Dragon.
Make sure you’re ready to face it before you step inside, because once you do, the only way back is by dying or winning.
