Linking Discord On Xbox One
If you are using an Xbox One, the account linking process will be slightly different.
You still need to follow the first few steps in the guide above. Go into your profile settings, then Linked Social Accounts. Press Link under Discord and log in with your email address and password. It looks more or less the same.
The main difference is that it will provide you with a confirmation code that needs to be entered into the desktop or mobile Discord application. Whichever platform you choose, the process is the same and is very simple.
Open Discord on your PC and go into User Settings. From here, open the Connections tab.
You will see several platforms available for linking. Select Xbox Live, log into your Microsoft account, and enter the confirmation code provided by your Xbox.
Your Xbox should successfully connect with Discord. The primary benefit of this connection is that your friends will see which game you are playing and exactly how long you have been playing it.

As an Xbox Insider, starting soon in preview, you will also have the added option to link your Xbox Live account to your Discord account directly from your Xbox One, which will become available to the broader Xbox community soon. Open the Account Settings menu on Xbox One, and select Linked social accounts. Here, you will see a new option for linking your Discord account. Once you receive your unique code from Xbox, open the Discord app and insert the code within the Connections tab.

What Can’t You Do With Discord On Xbox One
With limited Discord/Xbox One functionality, there’s currently not much you can do with a linked account. Here’s an overview of what you can’t do yet.
- You can’t chat to your friends. Possibly the most important thing that Discord users want to be able to do, there’s no cross-platform voice chat so you can’t talk to friends on Discord via your Xbox One. This applies to both text and voice chat.
- You can’t chat in a chat channel. Got a beloved favorite Discord chat channel? You also can’t converse there on your Xbox One or even simply browse what other people are posting at any time.
- You can’t add friends. Want to add a new friend to your Discord account? You’ll need to do that via the app or browser. You can’t do this via the Xbox One.
- You can’t join a new server. It’s not currently possible to join or add a new server to your Discord list.

Select Xbox Accounts Can Now Be Linked To Discord
Following the release of the 1805 System Update for members in the Xbox Insider Preview Alpha program, certain Xbox owners are now able to link their Xbox and Discord accounts together.
Towards the end of April, the Xbox team released an announcement that previewed the Discord integration feature that would be coming for select users first before rolling out to everybody. Some of the benefits of linking the accounts included being able to tell what your friends were doing with their Xbox while you weren’t on yours at the time. With the Discord integration update now live for those in the Xbox Preview program, certain Xbox owners can now take advantage of these benefits.
“You can now easily link your Xbox Live account to your Discord account from a Discord app and from the ‘linked social accounts’ Setting menu on Xbox One,” the notes for the 1805 System Update read. “When you link Discord to your Xbox Live account, your Xbox Live presence will be shared across Discord, enabling friends and users in your same Discord servers to see what you are playing on Xbox Live. Keep in mind that your Presence will be shared with anyone on Discord, independently of your Privacy Settings on Xbox.”

If you want to use Discord on an Xbox Series X or S to talk with friends in voice chats or keep track of things going on if you arent close to your PC, youll need to rely on something called Quarrel.
The Discord app isnt officially available on the Microsoft store. Instead, youll need to use a third-party app. So if youre uncomfortable with using a third-party application to sign in to your official Discord account, make a temporary or alternative account instead while on your Xbox Series X or S.
With that in mind, heres what you need to do:

Using Discord on Xbox

As neat as it is to have linked Xbox and Discord profiles, Xbox’s Discord integration is incredibly limited. Given the app has been available on Xbox One for over three years now, there’s no telling when the situation might improve.
Right now the only this this cross-platform Discord integration can do is show what you and your friends are playing on Xbox One. And only Xbox One, because Discord isn’t available on Xbox Series X or Series S.
This may be useful for coordinating your gaming sessions with friends, but it’s only a small sample of what Discord has to offer on PC. In fact the lack of cross-platform voice chat is a huge omission when Microsoft brought the service into the Xbox ecosystem.
Communication is a huge part of why Discord is so popular after all. Without that feature, and without parties and groups, the Xbox One’s barebones Discord integration is hardly what you’d call a must-have.
Currently, from either the PC or mobile Discord app, the only functionality of this new cross-platform integration is that you can see what your friends are playing on Xbox One.
Then again, if you’re an Xbox gamer and have a lot of friends who tend to play on PC, it might be worth the 5-minute setup time to link accounts and give your pals an easy way to see when you’re gaming.
