Close Xbox Games And Apps When Youre Not Using Them
If youve opened any other games or apps on your Xbox, they may still be downloading in the background while youre playing other games. Closing games and apps when youre not using them can help speed up Xbox One download speeds. To close games and apps follow these steps:
How Much Faster Is It
In real terms, not much, at least right now. Digital Foundry conducted some scientifically rigorous testing on both consoles and found, at the absolute most, the Xbox One S could be 9fps faster than than Xbox One. This is rare, though: most of their findings show the Xbox One S having a sub-3fps advantage over the Xbox One.
The extreme results came from the tricky Project CARS, with Digital Foundry finding in rainy conditions at the Monaco circuit with a load of cars in view, the Xbox One S was faster. The reason for this is because Project CARS has an unlocked framerate, which means the Xbox is allowed free reign over how fast it can go. This means a GPU with more grunt will always have the advantage.
In other titles where the framerate is locked to 30fps, theres much less difference. This is because both consoles are capable of rendering these titles at above 30fps, but because the game has been locked to that number of frames, the Xbox One S cant show its true colours.
There is evidence the One S can actually maintain 30fps more consistently than the original Xbox One, with the likes of Batman: Arkham Knight seemingly more stable, especially in the tricky Batmobile sections. Digital Foundry also found this boost helps forward-compatible Xbox 360 games.
Fixing The Finer Details
After configuring the video settings for your Xbox One, you’ll want to find a reliable way to test if they’re for you. A calibration tool hidden away within the console’s settings is the best way to do so, allowing you to check that both your console and TV settings are displaying images correctly. This can be found within the Settings app, under Display and Sound > Video output > Calibrate HDTV.
It’s important that this calibration tool is run after completing all aforementioned steps and used to fine-tune your TV’s settings for improved compatibility. By doing so you’ll be getting the best out of your TV, while also accounting for external factors, such as lighting conditions. This provides a more accurate representation of on-screen images, closer to those intended by developers.
Through the process, you’ll be given prompts to change your display’s color settings, brightness, sharpness and other display traits. If correctly configured, you should be getting some of the best results out of your Xbox One. And while discreet at times, this makes for the most consistent experience you can get.

Dishonored: Death Of The Outsider
- Xbox One X targets 30fps using a dynamic resolution with an unspecified range. Given the “4K Ultra HD” logo on the box art and official Xbox One X enhanced list, we can assume it tops out at 4K. Series X would drop resolution less often with a locked frame rate, given One X’s stable performance.
- With FPS Boost enabled, Series X drops to 900p for 60fps playback. Xbox One uses;a DRS range of 1280×900-1600×900.;Without more concrete info, we can’t rule out DRS on Series X, though it is unlikely. Players also miss out on the following Xbox One X enhancements:

Cyberpunk 2077 Players Are Coming Up With Clever Hacks To Stabilise The Framerate On Ps4 And Xbox One
Cyberpunk 2077 players are finding creative ways of dealing with the game’s shocking performance on PS4 and Xbox One.
The state of Cyberpunk 2077 on base consoles – PS4 and Xbox One – has been a matter of controversy for developer CD Projekt Red. The game suffers from severe performance issues on PS4 and Xbox One, with Digital Foundry calling it “unacceptable.”
CDPR has since apologised to players stuck on these machines, promising several patches from now until February that will bring the game up to the standard seen on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X. Though the developer asked players to be patient, it understood that many would nonetheless prefer a refund.
Since Cyberpunk 2077’s release, and before players started requesting refunds, some managed to stabilise the framerate using… unorthodox techniques. Reddit user Tylerjordan1994 discovered that firing a gun in any crowded area will force NPCs to disperse.
Given the limited memory on the base consoles, simply looking away from panicked NPCs is enough to get them to vanish entirely, bringing the framerate closer to the target 30fps.
It’s quite an ingenious trick, if it’s not a little sad players have to resort to doing this at all to get a stable performance.

How To Maximize Your Gaming Experience With The Ps4 And Xbox One
In the decade spanning 1990 to 2000, when video games were just beginning to enter the phase of legitimacy they now enjoy, I was a contender in the gaming industry. I wrote for the now defunct GamePro magazine, then the worlds largest video-game magazine, under the;nom de plume;of Scary Larry. If you knew anything about video games back then, you knew GamePro, and if you knew GamePro, you knew me.
But as time marched forward, I moved across the aisle into video-game marketing and branding, where I landed a gig as Editorial Director for The Pokémon Company. I got to see video games from a whole new perspective, and appreciated the skill and dedication that went into creating them. I also got to interact with the developers, marketing, advertising, and sales divisions from various gaming companies, and saw firsthand what it was like to build a product from the ground up.
During that time, I also had two kids, and my perspective on gaming changed. Video games and game consoles became much more personal to me. I had to watch what I playedtwenty hours of;Little Big Planet;now, as opposed to twenty hours of;Resident Evil 4;a few years agoand I felt obligated to view games as functional and educational, and not pure entertainment.

Microsoft Boosts Xbox One Graphics Performance Ahead Of Ps4 Console War
Microsoft is increasing the graphics performance of its Xbox One console ahead of its release in November. In a Major Nelson podcast published on Friday, Xbox Live VP Marc Whitten outlines the changes the company has made to its upcoming console since its unveiling in May. An internal beta of the system is currently underway, and developers have the final dev kits to build games for Xbox One. The biggest news of the day, however, is that Microsoft is increasing the Xbox One’s GPU clock speed from 800MHz to 853MHz.
The clock speed change had been previously rumored, and the confirmation shows Microsoft is trying to edge closer to the performance of Sony’s PlayStation 4 console. Although both will run AMD’s Jaguar processor, expected to be clocked similarly, Sony’s system has opted for more raw graphics power. Microsoft’s change appears to be a reaction to that, allowing the company to up its graphics performance by around 6.5 percent. Sony’s PlayStation 4 still has a 40 percent advantage over the Xbox One in raw graphics power, so there’s still a gap despite Microsoft’s changes.

List Of Xbox Series X/s Fps Boost Games
Microsoft launched Xbox FPS Boost in March 2021, starting with a small initial wave of titles, and since expanded with regular new additions. The feature has since picked up support from top publishers like Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Bethesda, and Square Enix, enhancing several top experiences from the Xbox One generation. With little work from game developers, expect more FPS Boost titles to hit Xbox Series X and Series S over the months ahead. The largest expansion of the feature brought over 70 new games with FPS Boost support, with Dark Souls III the most recent standalone addition.
Below follows the complete list of Xbox Series X/S FPS Boost titles so far, coupled with their target framerates when the feature is enabled. Several titles, which may see degraded visuals with FPS Boost enabled, also have the feature disabled by default. The optional support can be manually enabled in system settings, as detailed below.
|Yakuza 6: The Song of Life||60 FPS||Yes|
Future FPS Boost-enabled titles for Xbox Series X and Series S will be added to this list once announced.
Does Fps Boost Impact Graphics
Microsoft debuted FPS Boost as a seamless upgrade on Xbox Series X and Series S, and in most cases, it’s a free performance boost with no negative impact on visuals. However, FPS Boost can potentially impact overall visual quality compared to the stock, unmodified game. This impacts Xbox Series X, although all Xbox Series S games remain unaffected.
The caveat ties back to Xbox One X Enhanced titles, upgraded for Microsoft’s first 4K Xbox console released in 2017. The device brought a massive GPU upgrade over the standard Xbox One, and subsequent games leveraged this hardware, essentially using raw power to achieve a higher 4K resolution.
These games, now seeing FPS Boost improvements, can in many cases deliver 4K resolution with 60 FPS or 120 FPS upgrades. However, some games cannot provide a smooth 4K 60 FPS via backward compatibility, with Microsoft instead hampering the visual quality to achieve a higher framerate.
These FPS Boost-enabled titles lose their Xbox One X enhancements when on Xbox Series X, delivering their high framerates at the settings of standard Xbox One consoles. It can result in a lower resolution, worse effects, and overall muddied presentation versus the title with Xbox FPS Boost disabled. Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 are among those impacted by this tradeoff.
Thankfully, Microsoft makes FPS Boost entirely optional so that you can choose between 4K visuals or a slick 60 FPS.

Change Your Dns Settings
Domain Name System is basically a contact list for the internet. When you type in a website like www.google.com, your DNS searches through its contact list to find the IP address that matches the domain name you typed in. That way, you dont have to type in a long string of numbers for every single website you want to visit. Instead, you can just type in the domain name which is much easier to remember.;
Your home network is assigned a default DNS that is usually provided by your internet service provider. While the default DNS works, there are other DNS servers that are faster and run more efficiently. Switching to one of these faster servers can speed up your Xbox One download speeds. We recommend using Google DNS. To change your DNS settings:
After following these steps your download speeds should increase. If you notice that your speeds have not improved over time, you can always revert back to your default DNS settings. To do so, follow steps 1-4 above. Instead of selecting Manual in step four, select Automatic. Your settings will revert back to the default DNS.;
Connecting To Xbox Live With Wi
To connect your Xbox One to the internet with a wireless connection, you’ll need an active Wi-Fi connection within range of the device. By following the steps below, getting your console first connected to the internet is relatively streamlined.

Avoid Using Your Xbox One During Peak Times
There are certain times throughout the day when a lot of people are trying to use the internet at the same time. Unless you have a fiber internet connection, its likely that you will experience slower download speeds during these peak internet traffic times. This happens because you share bandwidth with your neighbors and other internet users that subscribe to your ISP. If it fits into your schedule, try gaming during less busy parts of the day. You can also download games during off-peak hours to speed up the process.;
