Here at Infinity Cable Products we stock three types of ethernet cables. The first one being Cat6 24AWG patch cables. This patch cable is a great choice for your Xbox One and will give you the performance you need to power your games. The second one we carry is our ultra slim 28AWG Cat6 patch cables. These cables are a great choice if you would like to save some room in behind your gaming system, computer or around your router or switch. These cables are great for areas with EMI or signal interference. They are rated for 10Gb up to 328 Feet. Though when it comes to patch cords you’ll often find that they come in shorter lengths.

Avoid Using Your Xbox One During Peak Times

There are certain times throughout the day when a lot of people are trying to use the internet at the same time. Unless you have a fiber internet connection, its likely that you will experience slower download speeds during these peak internet traffic times. This happens because you share bandwidth with your neighbors and other internet users that subscribe to your ISP. If it fits into your schedule, try gaming during less busy parts of the day. You can also download games during off-peak hours to speed up the process.

How To Connect Any Xbox One Controller To Pc Via Usb

If you dont mind a wired connection, using a USB cable is by far the easiest way to set up any type of Xbox One controller with a PC. This method works for Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One Elite controllers.

All versions of the Xbox One controller have a Micro USB connector on them. This allows you to connect them directly to a PC using a Micro USB-to-USB Type-A cable. And, since Windows can automatically recognize connected Xbox One controllers, theres nothing more to it.

    • Step one: Connect your USB cable to your powered-on Windows computer
    • Step two: Connect the Micro USB end to your Xbox One controller.
    • Step three: Press the Xbox logo on your controller to turn it on.

Ensure That Your Router Has A 5ghz Band

Routers have either a 2.4 or 5 GHz band. For those that are using a Wi-Fi connection for gaming instead of a wired ethernet connection, wed recommend a router with a 5 GHz band. The 5 GHz band enables faster and more reliable Wi-Fi speeds than a 2.4 GHz band. By upgrading to a router with a 5Ghz band, your Xbox One should run faster. The only drawback to 5 GHz bands is that they work best over short distances. Youll want your Xbox to be as close to the router as possible to avoid any connection issues.

Multiplayer Design Is Sometimes To Blame

Depending on the type of game you’re playing, ideal conditions sometimes aren’t replicable due to the nature of a game’s online infrastructure. Although most of today’s titles launch with stable multiplayer functionality, approaches to networking have infamously harmed certain games from the outset. Two common approaches to online networking are often seen nowadays: peer-to-peer networking or dedicated servers.

Dedicated servers are becoming increasingly popular, with a central server hosted solely to accommodate multiplayer matches. Often hosted in a central location with low latency unrivaled by other solutions, this setup can reduce any form of noticeable lag within the capabilities of the host. Provided dedicated servers are hosted across the globe, lag is less common with this type of technology.

P2P networking relies solely on player networks to host multiplayer matches, using one of the player’s consoles as a central server. Although this is a considerably cheaper option to develop, using a home connection to host multiplayer matches can result in undesirable latency and interruptions not seen with dedicated servers.

    Xbox One Ethernet Connection

Hi there, i seem to have an issue that i never had and can’t find the answer anywhere, so i have the wireless modem model# 5268ac fxn, i had my xbox one hardwired to the modem so i won’t have to use the wifi since it sits next to it, about a couple of months back i noticed that the ethernet light is not on at all, so i went to my xbox settings and noticed that it said that there’s no connection via ethernet cable, so i unplugged it, hard reset my xbox and the modem to see if it fixed the issue and nothing, no detection of the connection through the ethernet cable, connects fine through wifi, so here’s the part where it gets confusing, i connect a laptop to xbox through ethernet cable and both the laptop and xbox pick up the connection immediately yet the modem doesn’t when i connect my xbox back to it, i tried everything between the DMZ settings, port forwarding and Firewall settings and nothing, it’s like the modem is not letting any signal go through to the xbox by ethernet cable, oh and if i connect any other computer through ethernet if works perfectly fine, even resorted to replacing the modem and the problem still persisted.

    Enable Quality Of Service

How to Connect your Xbox One to Internet Wired Ethernet Cable!

While this tip is only recommended for our more advanced readers, enabling Quality of Service can also bring a notable bump in the speed of your Xbox One downloads. Enabled through your router, QoS manages bandwidth depending on the current traffic on the network. This allows you to prioritize certain traffic types, to ensure bandwidth is allocated to your Xbox One when required.

However, with QoS tied to your router settings, the exact method and complexities behind the feature vary from model to model. We recommend searching online for your exact router, for further information on the feature.

    Change Your Dns Settings

Domain Name System is basically a contact list for the internet. When you type in a website like www.google.com, your DNS searches through its contact list to find the IP address that matches the domain name you typed in. That way, you dont have to type in a long string of numbers for every single website you want to visit. Instead, you can just type in the domain name which is much easier to remember.

Your home network is assigned a default DNS that is usually provided by your internet service provider. While the default DNS works, there are other DNS servers that are faster and run more efficiently. Switching to one of these faster servers can speed up your Xbox One download speeds. We recommend using Google DNS. To change your DNS settings:

  • Open the Settings app on your Xbox.
  • Find the Network tab.
  • Select Network Settings > Advanced Settings > DNS Settings > Manual.
  • Once you select Manual, you will be able to enter a new DNS address. To use Google DNS, enter 8.8.8.8
  • After you confirm this address, youll need to enter a second one. For Google DNS this number is 8.8.4.4
  • After following these steps your download speeds should increase. If you notice that your speeds have not improved over time, you can always revert back to your default DNS settings. To do so, follow steps 1-4 above. Instead of selecting Manual in step four, select Automatic. Your settings will revert back to the default DNS.

    Getting An Xbox One Online

Before getting underway with improving your console’s connectivity, you’ll first need to make sure your console is correctly connected. The Xbox One supports both wired and wireless connections, with a relatively streamlined setup process.

Wired connections almost always offer the best speeds and stability, with a direct line to your console. While wireless can still provide adequate download and upload speeds, a wired connection is unmatched, especially over distance. By going wireless, you’ll be getting the benefits of convenience, without a physical cable between your router and console.

Make Sure That Your Internet Router Can Support Your Download Speeds

Routers are only designed to handle a certain amount of download speed, and some routers can handle more than others. If youre paying for an internet plan with download speeds up to 500 Mbps, but your router can only handle speeds up to 250 Mbps, you will never get download speeds faster than 250 Mbps. This is a waste of money because youre paying for twice the speed that youre actually getting. To find out if your router can support your internet plans download speeds, google your routers make and model. This information should be printed on the back of your router.
