Another common reason for input lag is the type of monitor players are using. Even the best 60hz monitors will have slightly delayed displays. Upgrading to a 120hz monitor or better can make an immense impact on screen lag. People playing on TVs larger than 40 inches will want to make sure that they have “game mode” activated if available. Many of the large TV manufacturers create products to display movies and television, not to optimize gaming performance.

Other factors include internet connection and console settings. Wired connections are always better than wireless connections for those that have the option. On both Xbox and PS, there are settings that can reduce video resolution to take advantage of higher hertz and FPS. Anyone that is playing on 1440p may want to consider downgrading pixels to 1080p for a potential boost to frames and hertz. Rust was developed in 2013, and the updated graphics are not going to be stunning even with the best console setup. More frames and more hertz will give players more control.

Rust: Console Edition Review Cut

I fancy myself something of a survival game aficionado with an agent of joyful chaos flare. When I played Conan: Exiles, I took up the mantel of being the Server Santa. I would labor all day to gather the materials needed to craft unique and useful items, only to drop them into unsuspecting clanmates’ storage boxes when offline. In Ark: Survival Evolved, I was a bit more of a trickster who would wait for my friend to go offline then quickly rename his t-rex “Raymondo” before painting it hot pink.

But Rust? None of that happens here. Rust’s unapologetically cruel public servers have left me a shell of my happy-go-lucky survivalist self. The unrelenting abrasiveness of this world leaves little room for fleeting moments of joy. Micro freezing and unstable server connections currently plague the launch version of the console edition, which is both years behind on updates and expected to have a completely separate roadmap from its PC counterpart. If Rust: Console Edition is one of your most anticipated games, you might want to make sure you’re sitting down for this review.

Does Rust Console Edition Have Crossplay

The console edition of Rust does indeed have crossplay, but unfortunately only between Xbox users and PlayStation users. If youre looking to play with your friends on PC, doing so is not possible from the console edition of Rust.

In short, users are able to play with friends on other consoles, but not on PC.

Play With Friends Via Crossplay

If youre playing Rust Console Edition on a PlayStation 4 and want to play with a friend on Xbox One, or vice versa, there are multiple ways to do so.

Private servers are one way to play with friends, but they do cost to set up. If youre happy to pay for a monthly subscription then go ahead and create a custom server from the main menu of Rust and invite your friends.

If creating your own server doesnt interest you simply head into an official Rust server, invite your friends to join and have fun!

When Rust Is Coming To Xbox One & Xbox Series X

Rust Is Now Available For Digital Pre

Rust, the survival game from Facepunch Studios, is a breakout hit on sites like Twitch. So, when is the game coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X?

Fans of Rust, the survival game from Facepunch Studios, are eager for it to come to Xbox and PlayStation consoles. The game has proven incredibly popular recently on sites like Twitch, as big-name streamers have reintroduced Rust to their audiences. Sales have skyrocketed on Steam, since the game is currently only available for PC. But when will Rust come to Xbox One and Xbox Series X?

Releasing in early access on Steam in 2013, Rust was fully released a little over two years ago. Since then, it’s developed and maintained a loyal following. Now, streamers have resurrected the game on Twitch, and Rust has become a surprise breakout hit of 2021. Due to its rise in popularity, a lot of people are eager to see the game arrive on consoles like Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Rust: Console Edition Is The Premium Price For An Inferior Product Worth It

While Rust has had a reasonable degree of success on PC, the game really struggled to break out into the mainstream. In early 2021, however, that changed as the game saw a pickup in exposure courtesy of some large live streams. It was a well-timed boost, with the console launch looming around the corner. I honestly can’t help but wonder if this boost in interest in the game didn’t have something to do with the sudden release of a console edition that clearly needed a little more time and work.

It’s not unreasonable for a title like Rust to release without parity between console ports and their PC predecessors. The differences between these two particular versions are so striking that it actually affects your ability to take advantage of cross-play. The developers have also said that despite cross-play, they view the console edition as a separate game from the PC version and that the update roadmap will follow its own path. So players on console can’t even look to the updates on PC to know what to look forward to as far as fixes for the console edition.

Rust: Console Edition

Bottom line: Rust: Console Edition is ruthlessly challenging survival sandbox that can make even the most tedious task feel like a victory when properly executed. With a toxic fanbase, server issues, and unclear timeline for updates, there are plenty of reasons this may be an unpleasant experience.

Rust For Xbox One Ps: Release Date And Everything We Know

Rust is finally making its way to consoles after being only on PC for many years. Rust originally launched way back in December 2013 as an early access title on Steam and launched as a full title in February 2018. Rust is renowned for being a harsh and chaotic open-world survival game where other players can be absolutely relentless. But what else is in store? Here’s what you need to know.

Rust: Console Edition Everything Wants To Kill You

Let’s be honest. Everything in Rust wants to kill you. The elements, the animals, and most importantly the other players. During one of my earliest attempts at the game, I spawned into a river where another player attempted to hunt a horse, only for the spooked horse to hit and kill me immediately. The next spawn saw me in a slightly safer locale, at least as far as potentially deadly livestock went. But I shortly found myself bashed in the head with a rock by another scantily clad player who had just spawned.

Everything in Rust wants to kill you. The elements, the animals, and most importantly the other players.

Rust does not offer personal save files where you can congregate with just your friends or play alone safely while learning the ropes. You’re forced to play either on an official server or on a private server that you pay to rent. You’re thrown hopelessly into the game with no tutorials or explanations.

It would be easy enough to just shrug off the antics of an unchecked player base if it weren’t for server stability issues that make your low chances of survival plummet even further. In one encounter, the player who killed me approached me with a firearm. While I wasn’t ready to deal with that sort of onslaught, I could have at least managed to engage in some means of self-perseverance if the game did not freeze up for as much as 20-30 seconds every time another player came anywhere close to me.

Is Rust Game Cross

Rust Console News: HUGE OCTOBER Updates (Xbox & PlayStation)

Rust has been designed to take advantage of the performance and stability characteristics of the platform it runs on. Itll run best on its native device, but can be cross-compiled for others.

The simple answer is YES, Rust is cross-platform. However, it does not imply that it will execute on every platform. There is one major restriction to be aware of sadly, Rust does not work on PC.

This implies you wont be able to play with your PC pals who are playing Rust on their Xbox or any other platform. But if youre playing on the Xbox, this doesnt mean that your friends who play on PlayStation 4 or PS5 cant join in. Now that weve covered how to figure out which platforms can be crossed, go through the complete article to find out more.

What Are Survival Games

Survival games are a type of game that usually focuses on surviving in a world where there is some other hostile presence or other natural threats. This hostile presence can be zombies, wild animals, or even other people trying to survive as well. There are many different types of survival games out there so its important to do your research before picking one.

Best Controllers For Responsiveness

The stock Series X/S controllers are noticeably better when it comes to avoiding input lag. The same applies to the PS5 release controllers. Both of the models receive regular software updates to improve performance. For those still on the old gen, there are a number of reputable brands, which are mentioned below.

  • Xbox: Razer Wolverine, Xbox Elite, SCUF Instinct
  • PS: SCUF Impact. Sony Dualshock 4, Nacon, Terios

Having the best controller on the market will not completely eliminate input lag. It will, however, slightly improve responsiveness. The controllers above last longer and have better dead zones than cheap or stock options. Also, they will help to make users better gamers in the process.

Ideal Monitor To Reduce Input Lag

The optimal monitor will depend somewhat on preference, but there are a few things nearly every top monitor has in common. The traits of a good monitor are as follows:

  • 24″-32″ depending on distance from screen/preference
  • 120 Hz+
  • HDMI 2.1
  • Black stabilizer

Gamers that have a monitor with each of these traits will have a marked advantage over other console players in Rust.

Rust Console Edition Review

Rust for Xbox One, PS4: Release date, and everything we know

Rust is a game that has been kicking around on PC since 2013, first in Early Access and then finally getting a full release in February 2018. Now, the original developers, Facepunch Studios, have teamed up with Double Eleven to bring the game to the Xbox and PlayStation consoles, with the imaginatively named Rust Console Edition. The original was touted as a mixture of DayZ with the strong crafting elements of Minecraft, so I guess the question I need to answer is whether the game is greater than the sum of its parts, or does it stumble at the first hurdle?

The first thing to mention is that Rust is a multiplayer only experience, so forget the peaceful exploration of Minecraft, because this is nothing like that. In fact, the first thing that hits you upon spawning into the world is usually a much higher level being killing you instantly fast sending you back to the spawn screen. This is very annoying, but nothing like as annoying as if you manage to escape the beach , gather some resources and cobble together a crude shelter, only to then have someone decide that you may have something that they want. Without a word of a lie, I had made a wooden hut and managed to lock the door, so the other player decided to break through the wall, shoot me in the face with a shotgun, help himself to anything that wasnt tied down, and then went on his merry way without a care in the world.

A Brief History Of Rust

Developed by the minds behind Garrys Mod, Rust began life as an eerily similar game to DayZ when the survival genre boom was really kicking off. Zombies were part of early plans, but were scrapped.

Rust released into Early Access on Steam on 11 December, 2013 and would stay there until 2018 when it was finally fully released. Rust was a big commercial success from the off, easily eclipsing the revenue of Garrys Mod within no time at all. Early reception was mixed, though reviewers and players noted that it had potential.

The game went through many different ideas and iterations in Early Access, including changing the blueprints system for something closer to an XP system, though this was not received well by the community and reverted at full launch.

Since its full release, Facepunch have released a regular stream of updates for Rust, some of which include ride-able horses, air travel, scuba diving, and AI-controlled areas where players could trade in peace.

In 2020, Rust is regularly a feature of Steams most played and is raking in the cash for Facepunch.

Timeline For A Next Gen Release

The console edition of Rust is available for next gen consoles, but the game was designed for the old generation. Double Eleven is still working tirelessly to fix rampant bugs, crashes, and glitches that arose in the first few months after the launch of the game.

RELATED: Rust: What Is The Staging Branch?

With most of those problems solved, or at least in development, it is likely that Double Eleven will shift their focus to next gen optimization in the near future. The Rust Console Edition website has bi-weekly news covering developer notes, as well as patch notes for each update. At this time, there is no finite deadline for a next gen specific release, but it will surely be on Double Eleven’s priority list come next year.

Is Rust Still Coming To Xbox One & Xbox Series X

Update Now! Fishing Village Rust Console News PS4, XBOX

In a statement from Double Eleven, the company made it clear that Rust is still being made for consoles. The survival game is simply delayed, and development seems to be making steady progress. Even with the obstacles faced by Double Eleven and Facepunch Studios, though, it appears that Rust will be releasing on Xbox consoles fairly soon. The announcement indicates a release window of 2021, although a specific date wasn’t shared.

Of course, the global pandemic is still ongoing, so further development delays may occur as a result. The PC version of Rust continues to get regular updates, which indicates the studio is still developing content at a steady rate. Most likely, a late 2021 release date is imminent for Rust on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. However, additional and unexpected delays could push the console version of the game into 2022.

Until an exact release date is shared, fans are only left with a 2021 release window for Rust. Thankfully, the survival game is already available on PC, and Xbox users have some great alternatives to play while they wait. Hopefully, fans of the game won’t have to wait too much longer before Rust releases on Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

One Year Of Rust Console Edition Lets Celebrate

Rust Console Edition is celebrating its first-year anniversary and we would like to invite everyone to celebrate this very special occasion with us! Here is a quick recap of how much our game has evolved during this first year of development.

Let me start by introducing you to our latest content update, Deadly Catch. This brand new update is set to release this week on Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X.

The Deadly Catch update will bring new features like fishing, a new type of aquatic vehicle and brand new monuments called the Fishing Villages.

Once this update is live, you will be able to explore both Fishing Villages scattered around the map, and in them you will be able to find special vending machines that allow you to trade all the fish you catch for some scrap. You can then use the scrap to buy blueprints for our new aquatic vehicle the Kayak, or visit the docks to trade it for a shiny new boat. This update also introduces a brand new fishing mini-game!

Offshore Blowout is the content update that brought the most requested monument to the game, the Oil Rigs. Alongside the Oil Rigs, it also brought the Heavy Scientists and the Multiple Grenade Launcher to the game.

Devastation Unleashed was our first big content update, and with it came a lot of quality of life improvements as well as gestures and bigger maps.

Theres a lot more to come for Rust Console Edition during this second year of development and we are very excited to show everyone what the team is working on!
