What Is An Ip Address
IP addresses work for games consoles just the same as they do for other devices. They are a unique identifier for any device which reveals specific details like the location and ISP. They are roughly equivalent to what a postal address/ZIP code does for real homes, but for devices instead. Every single device which connects to the internet needs an IP address.
IP addresses are split into apublic IP , and a private IP . Public IP addresses are unique.
The bridging protocol between public and private IP addresses is Network Address Translation or NAT, which is why NAT types can be so important for gamers. Having an inefficient system of translating public IPs to private can hinder connectivity to other gamers. Well cover this in more detail further below.
See the diagram below for a visual of this. The public IP for the home is 82.10.250.19 , while all the devices in that home are assigned a unique private IP along the range 192.168.0.x, where x is a unique number between 1-254 given to each device that connects to that router.

Its important to make this distinction, since when we are talking about changing an IP address , we are talking about modifying the private IP address within your home for more efficient networking. Changing the public IP can also be done with a VPN, but in reality is even less likely to be of any use than changing your private IP in most cases.
Use The Xbox Ip Puller
You can also use a website like Lanc Remastered to make a connection with other users using the live game or Xbox party chats. It lets you easily track and locate Gamertags with ease.
Step 1: First access the Lanc Remastered website and open the where you will get instructions on how to install the package. However, you will need to have some software already installed.
Step 2: For successful Lanc Remastered installation, you will need to disable the IPV6.
Step 3: On your pc, find control panel > network and internet > network and sharing center> change adapter settings > right-click your internet connection . You can change it from there.
Step 4: Once done, you can now download and install Lanc Remastered. After successful installation, input the changes in the network adapter settings. On the properties section, allow the ARP spoofing and filter option.
Step 5: You will now need to fetch your IP address in the network settings in your Xbox account. Once done, locate and copy the IP address. You will need to paste it to the to box. This is found in the ARP spoofing.
Step 6: Type 3074, which are the Xbox port numbers. Once done, create a party or invite the user to a live game.
Step 7: When the player joins the game or party forum, click Enter. Your fellow gamers IP will pop up. Thats it.
Find Your Xbox In The List Of Discovered Devices
When the scan finishes you will get a list of devices found on your network. From here you will look for a device named Xbox. in most cases that will be the name that shows up. If you do not see a device called Xbox you will want to looks for anything that looks similar such as Microsoft or gaming.
From here you will want to record the IP address of your Xbox console. Once you have recorded the IP address you are good to go. Enter that IP address into your remote play application and you will hopefully be able to connect. If your Xbox doesnt show up make sure it is powered on and connected to your network. If you are still having trouble, try temporarily setting your Xbox right beside your router and plugging it in with a short ethernet patch cable. This will ensure your console is connected to your network. If you dont have an ethernet cable you can purchase one very affordably.

Set Up A Static Ip Address In Your Xbox One Console
If you have a router that does not allow you to manually assign internal IP addresses, follow these instructions to set up a static IP address in your Xbox One console:
1. Find out what IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS settings your Xbox One console is currently using. To find this info:
- Go to the home screen and push the menu button on the controller
- Select Settings
- Select Network
- Select Advanced settings
- In the IP settings section, you should see the IP address,Subnet Mask,Gateway, Primary DNS, Secondary DNS, and MAC address listed. Write all of these numbers down, you will need to enter them in later.
2. Next, login to your router and note the DHCP range your router uses. The DHCP range is the group of numbers that your router uses to assign internal IP addresses to devices on your network. Here is a screenshot of a Linksys router. The DHCP range is circled in red.
3. You will need to pick a number between 2 and 254 that is outside of your router’s DHCP range to assign to your Xbox One.
In the example above, this Linksys router uses the range 100-149 to assign IP addresses to devices on the internal network. I chose to assign my Xbox to 201. The IP address that I am going to assign to my Xbox is 192.168.1.201. Here are a few more examples for you:

Find Your Current Xbox Ip Address
Find out what IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS settings your Xbox One console is currently using. To find this info:

Setting A Static Ip For Gaming
If you just leave you IP settings as default for your games console/PC, then your router will use a protocol called Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol to automatically assign an IP address along this private range to your console. And in most cases, this is all you need it works totally fine.
However, it is possible to manually over-ride this process and set your own static IP with any value you want in this private IP range.
Theres two ways of doing this heres the easier way, for the PS4/PS5:
- Go to SettingsNetwork.Set Up Internet Connection
- Select Wi-Fi or LAN depending on your connection
- Select Custom setup for LAN
- For IP Address, switch to Manual and input the following values:
- IP Address 192.168.0.x, where x is any number between 100 and 254
- Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Test Your Xbox Network Connection Again
After you have assigned a permanent IP address to your Xbox One console and forwarded the correct ports in your router, you can test your network connection. To test the connection from the Xbox One Dashboard:
- Select Settings
- Choose Test network connection
- Wait while the test runs.
- The results of the test should tell you if your NAT Type is Open, Moderate, or Strict.
Your network connection should now have an Open NAT Type. If your network status is set to NAT Type: Open, congratulations to you! This a common networking problem that can be quite difficult to solve. Good job making it through the guide and optimizing your network. Now you should be able to enter into more matches and chat with all of your gaming buddies. Now, go enjoy your game!
If you are not able to get an Open NAT Type, check to see that you have entered in the correct information. Double check the data that you entered for the IP address and MAC address.

Forwarding ports, or opening ports, in your router points all traffic coming in on certain ports to a specific internal IP address. To get an Open NAT Type, you will want to forward the following ports to the IP address of your Xbox One:

With The Help Of The Command Prompt
You can also use the command prompt to track your targets IP address on Xbox. But for this, you need to have a chatting connection with your target. And you both need to have a shared internet connection as well.
