Minecraftfans have long clamored for Mojang and Microsoft to implement custom skins in the game’s console versions. These let you change Alex or Steve to look like pretty much whatever you want, from skeletons to zombies, blobs, or myriad other things. But what’s the deal with custom skins on Xbox One?

Minecraft Java lets you customize Alex and Steve, but how can you do it in the Bedrock version on Xbox One?

    Well, you can’t.

Despite fans having asked for it repeatedly, Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, the version currently on consoles, still won’t let you make custom skins or upload them legally, at least.

There’s always the option to hack your system and upload mods you’ve created or downloaded on PC, but doing that voids your console’s warranty and isn’t really recommended.

That leads to the reason why custom skins can’t be used in Minecraft for Xbox One or other consoles. Like most PC games, Minecraft Java lets you have control over your game’s files and basically everything associated with it. There’s no tampering or hacking required to modify certain things, hence the fact there’s a lively PC modding scene.

Accessing those files on a console requires hacking the system, which gives access to the entire operating system and opens the door to piracy, code manipulation, and a number of other potential issues and legal headaches for companies.

    Check Your Internet Connection

Minecraft requires an active online connection to play, and if your Internet connection is sluggish or non-active, you may have a variety of problems.

A sluggish internet connection might result in skins not changing in a timely manner, as well as other gamers getting Rubberbanded to various areas instead of moving about in real-time.

Weak Internet connections are prevalent, and identical troubles might arise if the server has a terrible connection to the player.

Because of the slower internet connections, skins will be downloaded and applied to the characters as they move about.

This might take anything from a few seconds to an hour, and the wait frequently causes people to be confused since they dont have personalised skin.

You wont be able to play online if your internet connection is down, but youll be able to play single-player since the char.png wont be changed, and youll be stuck with the previous skin or the default Steve skin.

Youre Playing In An Offline Mode

We went over how to join a different server and why people would run a server with the online-mode option set to false.

  • Turning the Online-Mode to True
  • Navigate to and open the âMinecraft Serverâ folder on your computer, this method is only effective if you currently use your computer to host the Server or have access to a friendâs Minecraft Server.
  • Remove The CheckMark Next To the Minecraft Server Name
  • After unchecking this mark, this will temporarily disable the Minecraft server. After stopping the server, you should see it as unavailable rather than with the green bars.
  • Open the âServer.propertiesâ File
  • In the âMinecraft Serverâ folder in your computer, youâll need to navigate down to find the âServer. Propertiesâ file. This file the basic settings that Minecraft defaults to since this file is a .properties, you can open this file in the default text editors like Notepad or Text editor.
  • Locate Online-Mode Option
  • The server.properties is not a long file, having just seventeen lines which all correlate to settings that your Minecraft server uses. These settings are range from the serverâs view-distance, the difficulty of the world, which game mode you are into even the online-mode setting.
  • When this setting is set to false, this server will not require the players to have an associated Mojang account, this leads to the skins of the players not being shown, but players that havenât bought the game can join.
  • Save the File

    Wait For Skin Refresh

This is probably the simplest solution out of the bunch

To resolve this problem, simply wait until the Minecraft.net server changes your skin. This might take anywhere from a few seconds to over an hour after updating the skin.

This implies that if you want your skin to update properly and without problems, youll need to be patient.

This might force Minecraft to verify what skin you desire, which could result to your skin being updated a little faster than if you simply waited.

If your skin hasnt been updated after a lengthy period of time, then keep reading the article to find out other methods which might help you resolve your issue.

Have A Skin Of Proper Resolution

How To Get Custom Skins In Minecraft Xbox One

When contrasted to regular graphics you would alter on your computer, Minecraft skins are a fairly tiny image.

The maximum picture size in Minecraft is 64 by 64 pixels. Its possible that resizing your Minecraft skin could result in it being bigger than planned.

If the resolution of your preferred Minecraft skin is bigger than 64 x 32 pixels or 64 × 64 pixels, the skin may show wrongly or not at all.

This might be because Minecrafts skin is designed to be set out in a certain manner, and any picture that isnt created with that in mind could wind up as the default skin or a completely transparent skin.

Although they are the signs that youre attempting to apply a skin thats too huge to your Minecraft character, the simplest solution is to downsize the picture.

Users can get the appropriate and required resolution of their Minecraft skins by using the following methods:

  • Minecraft Skin creator
  • Don’t Miss: Disc Won’t Eject Xbox One

    Bedrock Editions Special Skin Options

The Bedrock version of the game also offers an in-game skin creator, as well as paid skins made by Mojang and partners.

The in-game skin creator can be found in the Edit Character menu, which well show how to get to in the longer Bedrock section below. It gives a ton of color and style customization options for your skin, letting you edit each body part individually.

Some skin options in this menu will need to be unlocked first, either by earning achievements or by paying for them. You can use real money or Minecoins which are purchased using real money to buy skins.

A number of these premium skins are listed in the character creator, but you can find all of them by going back to the main menu and clicking Marketplace. Theres also an online store you can get to through your web browser.

The Server You Are Playing On Has Online

This may not be under your control, and there are certain settings that server owners have that are completely unable to be edited by players on the server.

  • One of these settings include the Online-Mode this setting makes it, so the server has to authenticate with Mojangâs server. This means that when the Online-Mode is true, âcrackedâ or pirated versions of the game will be unable to join. While with this setting set to false, any player with a Minecraft.exe application is able to join and interact with each other.
  • As a side effect of having this setting on and not authenticating the Minecraft players with an associated Mojang account. The easiest way to fix this issue is to join a server that has this setting changed to true.
  • The good news is that most servers have that setting as true because itâs the default when creating a new server or renting a server from a third party website.

Uploaded Skin Isnt The Correct Resolution

Minecraft skins are a very small image when compared to standard images you might edit on your computer. Minecraft images size at maximum is just 64 x 64 pixels. Resizing your Minecraft skin may lead to it being larger than intended.

  • If your desired Minecraft skin is larger than the 64 x 32 pixels or 64 x 64 pixels resolution, the skin can either display incorrectly or not display the skin at all.
  • This can be due to the fact that Minecraftâs skin is supposed to be laid out in a certain way, and any image that is not created with that in mind may end up either being the default skin or a totally transparent skin.
  • While those are the symptoms of trying to apply the skin that may be too big to the Minecraft character, the easiest way to fix this issue is to resize the image.
  • That can be done one of two ways, either using a photo editor to go into and change the size with ease manually.
  • Using a Photo Editor

Some of the best photo editors to use are Adobeâs Photoshop, GIMP, and even Windows Paint. While GIMP and Windows Paint are entirely free, Photoshop is a paid software that is the most commonly known. Photoshop has the most user-friendly UI when comparing all three and with the lack of layers that are available on Windows Paint.

  • To resize the image, youâll need to download and open up the Minecraft skin template. This template will set the correct size for the canvas on Photoshop.
  • Using a Skin Creator
