  • How To Clean Xbox One Disc Drive

First of all, remove the Xbox 360 drive from the Xbox and turn over the drive so that it shows the belly. You will find four screws and a warranty sticker. Cut the warranty sticker carefully.

Take a screwdriver to unscrew all the four screws and put them aside carefully. Then, remove the upper case carefully so that, it reveals the PCB. After that, use the tiny screwdriver to dispel the drawer bezel.

Then, turn over the drive again and dispel the other case as well which will uncover the drawer and laser. Dont palp the laser because its very dangerous. Keep in mind that you cannot touch the laser.

Now, take a close look to see if theres any dust or debris or not. If you find any then clean it with the help of a brush. Remember, the laser need not be brushed. Just brush the dust away from it.

You will find an area underneath the black plastic where you will find ridges. It will help you to open the drawer. Now, open the drawer gently and see if theres more dust or not. If yes, then brush them away again. Also, check the machines carefully. They can be greasy and dusty as well. Remove if gently so that, the worse part removes only. Now, put it back altogether and build the console again. If the cleaning doesnt help you out then your disc drive must need a replacement.

What If I Don’t Get It Fixed

In most cases, it won’t cause any problems at all if you opt to not have your console repaired. In fact, you can even still play games, you would just need to play downloaded content. The disc drive has no effect on downloaded games and movies. You obviously wouldn’t be able to play any disc based games or movies but if you are wanting to move to digital games then this would be the time to do that.

    Keeping The Laser Lens Clean

If your machine isnt recognising a disc when youve inserted one, or youre experiencing issues during playback/freezes during your game, the first thing to do is to check the disc itself.

If its scratch- and fingerprint-free, the problem could lie with your consoles disc drive. Its unlikely to be anything major, though more often than not, its simply a case of dirt or dust on the laser lens getting in the way.

Ensuring your Xboxs disc drive stays in good working order is a case of prevention being better than cure . Make sure the disc insert area on the front of your console is kept dust-free you can avoid a build-up by regularly wiping over your console with a dry microfibre cloth. The microfibre material will ensure that the dust sticks to the cloth, rather than just pushing it around and potentially directing it into the disc slot itself.

Make sure the disc goes into the console without any resistance or strange noises. If youre in doubt, eject it and try again. If youre still having trouble, try using a laser lens cleaning disc this should clear up any playback issues .

    Xbox Disk Drive Error 0x91d7000f

My XBox One S started having disk drive issues.

When booting the XBox One S up regularly, I start the Blu-Ray app and get an error message stating:

‘No disc device found. This app requires an Xbox with a disc drive. If this console has a disc drive, it might need servicing at support.microsoft.com/devices. ‘

Inserting a Blu-Ray disk will do nothing, as will inserting a game disk, a DVD, or a 4k disk. Basically nothing works.

However, just going to do a restart on the Xbox fixes the problem. But only until the next cold boot.

I have my Xbox set to ‘Energy Saving’ in the boot settings, so no quick boot.

Does anyone have a clue what to do here? I doubt that it is a hardware issue as the drive works just fine after a reboot. I suspect a firmware or software glitch introduced with the XBox One S AD – but that is just my uneducated guess. Any help is appreciated.
