How Can I Improve My Chances Of Getting An Xbox Series X
It can be a little chaotic, constantly refreshing the screen and hoping to see a checkout link. And as many can attest, it’s pretty painful to punch in your payment information only to see that the purchase can’t be completed because all the consoles are already gone. Here are some of our tips:
- Open multiple browsers: Got a laptop? A phone? Maybe a tablet? Use them all to try to make the purchase. Set yourself up ahead of time with multiple browsers open to the retail site of your choice and be ready to buy from all of them.
- Don’t give up: Many of these retailers have started releasing the consoles over the course of 30 minutes, to keep bots from buying them all and reselling them at a price increase. If you see everything is sold out after the first 5 minutes, keep refreshing because your chance probably isn’t gone yet.
- Have an account set-up and signed-in: The time it takes to enter your payment and shipping information can be the difference between getting your console and getting left in the dust. Avoid that delay by setting up an account on the websites you’ll be shopping on.
- Make sure you have a confirmation email: There have been many reports of a purchase getting “stuck” and even though the website said the sale was complete, no confirmation email arrived and then no Xbox arrived. Keep an eye out and make sure you actually have an Xbox Series X headed your way before celebrating.
Buy A Series X Through Xbox Insider
This isn’t an option in the UK yet, but we’re pretty hopeful that it will be before too long.
US Xbox One owners can now apply to buy a Series X or Series S directly from Microsoft through the new Console Purchase Pilot, open to members of the Xbox Insider Program.
If you’re not already an Xbox Insider you can sign up by on either your Xbox One or a Windows 10 PC.
Conveniently, that’s also the app through which you can register for the Console Purchase Pilot, though not every applicant will be accepted.
Hopefully this pilot will be a success and Microsoft will roll the system out worldwide – but in the meantime, if you’re already an Xbox One owner it definitely makes sense to join Xbox Insider now to be ready if and when the reservation scheme expands.
Don’t expect it to be easy to find even then though – Xbox head Phil Spencer told the Dropped Frames podcast that stock shortages are likely to continue for “a few months.”
“We know what our supply will look like basically for the rest of the year. We’re going to have more demand than we do supply,” Spencer said.
How To Buy An Xbox Series X At Best Buy
As with most retailers, setting up a Best Buy account ahead of time should be your first priority. You want to make sure that your payment details and address information is pre-saved, in order to shave precious time off your checkout that could be the difference between securing an Xbox Series X and being left empty-handed.
Its also important to note that Best Buy is not currently delivering Xbox consoles though the order process takes place online, you must opt for in-store pick-up. So, if you dont have a local Best Buy, or dont have the ability to get to your local store, then Best Buy may not be the Xbox retailer for you.
When a restock is taking place, refresh the product page until you see the yellow “add to cart” button or a grey “please wait” button. If you see the latter, do not refresh, but instead wait for the button to change to the yellow “add to cart” one.
Once youre able to add to cart, you might see a message telling you the Xbox Series X is no longer in stock. Should that happen, you need to change your location to one that has the system in stock. You could also open a new page and repeat the process outlined above until the “add to cart” button appears again, then go back to the original page you had open and try again to choose a location.

How To Store It Correctly
Once you get your Xbox series X, you will have a lot of temptation to pack it among your books, toys, and showpieces. Moreover, the Xbox takes a significant space to be stored, and therefore, you may also feel like stacking it with other boxes. However, manufacturers gave special instructions to store your Xbox series X, unlike your regular gadgets and CPU.
To be specific, you must place it either horizontally or vertically on a solid and stable surface. Do not keep it on a soft surface like a bed, sofa, and cushion. If you place it on a soft cushion-like surface, the Xbox will not be able to freely circulate air as its ventilation will be cut off. And as a result, your Xbox console will get heated up very fast and thus get spoiled in no time.
Thus, assign a separate space for your Xbox series 8 console before you place your order. A well-ventilated and cool place that does not face the wrath of the sunlight is ideal. Moreover, many people tend to stack one thing after another, and they tend to fill each space on a shelf or cupboard with other little things to make up for the space.
Please avoid using your Xbox console as a space to keep books, toys, and other objects on or against it. As per manufacturers, it is important to keep free space of a minimum of 4-6 inches on all sides of the console. This makes way for ventilation and keeps the console cool and working well for a long time.

When Is Black Friday 2021 And Should You Wait For A Better Deal
Black Friday arrives on Friday 26 November this year, followed by Cyber Monday on 29 November, which leads to the question: should you wait until then for a better deal?
To be blunt: no. If you want the Xbox now and you see it in stock then pick it up. It’s very unlikely that the console itself will see any serious reductions or offers over the sales season.
However, the same doesn’t hold for games and accessories. So if you do manage to grab an Xbox, then consider only buying the games, headsets, and controllers you feel you need immediately – holding out a few weeks for the rest might help you save some serious money on these extra bits.
There’s no need to wait for 26 November itself, of course. In the past, the biggest and best Black Friday deals were typically reserved for the big day, but now Black Friday deals appear all through November and sometimes, as early as October.
If you see dramatic Black Friday discounts before 26 November, just go for it! Some retailers that hold pre-Black Fridays sales also promise that prices won’t go any lower on Black Friday itself and offer to refund customers back the difference if it does. We’re answering all your Black Friday-related questions here.
