Can You Eject A Disc With Your Controller On Xbox One

How To Manually EJECT a DISC from your Xbox One console. STUCK DISC FAULT

The modern era of technology has advanced so much, that we have a general expectation if we can think of a feature, its probably possible. Sometimes, you simply cant be bothered walking all the way over to your Xbox One console to eject a disc, because its there! And you youre here! This is the future, dammit, we demand expedience!

The fact that you hold an Xbox One controller in your hand may seem like a potential solution, and many are the hours spent randomly mashing buttons in a haphazard attempt to send the disc careening from the console. For one thing, this was actually a feature that was present on the Xbox 360, and beyond that, we need only remind you this is the future, dammit, it should probably work.

Alas, try as you might, there is no hidden button combination, no hotkey, nary a single way to eject the disc from the menu on Xbox One. You will have to make the arduous trek over and press the eject button on the console itself, should you want to pluck that disc from its resting place.

Unfortunately, this means that if your eject button is faulty, you wont have an easy workaround. If this is the case, try resetting the console before trying again. If it is completely frozen, hold the Xbox logo button on your controller to force a shut down, then turn it back on and try again. Generally speaking, since consoles moved away from mechanical disc trays, eject faults have become a lot less common, however they are not unheard of.

Usually, a properly functioning Xbox One will allow you to remove a disc by selecting a function or pushing the eject button near the disc slot. But if youve come to this page, its because youre having a problem and need to know How To Eject Disc From Xbox One. So lets get started!

    Step 1

To begin, turn off your Xbox One and unhook the power wire as well as any other attached cables. Obtain a giant paper clip and uncoil it. A typical clip is far too short, and your pin must be at least 2 inches long .

    Step 2

If you have a genuine Xbox One, look for the eject hole on the consoles side, directly beside the disk eject button. To find it, youll need to look now at the consoles exterior.

    Step 3

After youve found the eject hole, carefully push the paperclip in until the disc drive moves outwards. The disc will come out a tiny bit as you press in the clip. To keep the disc clean, pull it out the rest of the way with a lint-free towel.

Important Note: If you want to avoid a stuck disc issue on your Xbox One machine in the future, make sure you use a clean disc. Before you play the game again, inspect the disc for any adhesive residue, stickers that have made it overly thick, or any other difficulties.

When your disc is not ejecting from your xbox one s or xbox one x, it can be frustrating, however, microsoft actually added a hidden feature that will allow you to pop out your disc that stuck inside your xbox one s console. This is very easy to do. First unplug your xbox one s console. Flip it on itâs side so the ejecting port is up towards the ceiling.

Now take an Allen wrench that is 1.5 mm in diameter or maybe like a paperclip and place it inside the orange hole, which should be located 3 holes up and 7 to the left. If you use a flash light, you should be able to see the orange hole and where you place you Allen wrench. When pressing down, make sure you apply enough force otherwise the disc wonât pop out the front of the console enough. You may need around 4 inches of length to be able to press the disc out of the xbox one s for your paper clip or allen wrench. â¦

Xbox One Is Finally Adding The Ability To Eject Discs With Your Controller

Manually Eject a Disc from your Xbox One, Xbox One S or Xbox One X console.

Six and a half years into its lifespan, Xbox One is finally getting the ability to eject discs from your controller.

Members of the Xbox Insider Program noticed the new feature and shared their joy on Reddit. Though it hasn’t rolled out to all Xbox One owners via a general update yet, anyone is free to join the Insider Program just by downloading the hub on the Xbox Store. If you have the update, you can pop the disc out of your Xbox One simply by hovering over the dashboard tile for disc-based media and pressing “X”.

Sadly, you can’t then press “Y” to have the console extend a mechanical arm that puts the disc back in its case and then grabs the one you want to play next. You’ll still need the personal touch to make that happen.

Joking aside, ejecting with the controller is a fan-requested feature that’s genuinely useful in all kinds of scenarios. It can make using the console more accessible for people who have trouble pressing the hardware button, or even if that’s not an issue, there’s a very real possibility that you’ve forgotten which button on the console does what by now or were never all that sure to begin with. Even if you know where it is, sometimes those eject buttons get unreliable as consoles age, and pressing “X” is a lot easier than uncoiling a large paper clip and poking it into a tiny hole.

Eject that disc and get ready to insert some picks from our list of the best upcoming Xbox One games.

If Your Xbox One Wont Eject Discs Break Out Your Paper

Current-gen consoles donât have disc trays you can exactly force open. So what happens when your Xbox One simply wonât eject a disc? Before you wait forever on Microsoft Customer Support, use this easy tutorial to grab your disc back from the consoleâs hungry maw.

Dealing with a malfunctioning games console is incredibly frustrating. Youâve spent a good $300 or so on hardware, and you damn well expect it to work. As we all know, there are no guarantees when it comes to hardwareâgames or otherwiseâbut there are a few easy homemade fixes you can do in order to alleviate the situation. If your Xbox Oneâs disc drive is on the fritz and wonât eject your disc, then break out your paperclips and letâs get cracking.

PC disc drives can be manually forced open with a paper clip, and apparently so can Xbox Ones. First, unhook the consoleâs power and extra plugs, separating it from everything else. With the console facing you, rotate it counter-clockwise so you see the extra USB port and silver button. With the light shining on this side of the console, look through its vents for a little orange dotâthis is where the manual eject pinhole is located.

Now simply slide in the paper clip into the pinhole, and the disc will push out. Itâll only push out a bit so youâll have to grab it and pull it the rest of the way. Voila! Youâve retrieved the disc!

Heres Hoping The Next Xbox Has The Same Feature

How to MANUALLY EJECT stuck disc from XBOX ONE

An upcoming update to the Xbox One user interface is going to allow users to eject their disks with a button press on their controller.

This may seem like a menial change, but anyone with a broken disc eject button will likely be super hyped for this change. It also might make it easier for people using the Xbox Adaptive controller.

This was a feature that was even on the Xbox 360 years and years ago, so, surprisingly, its taken Microsoft this long to add the feature to the Xbox One.

Heres hoping that it carries over to the upcoming Xbox Series X as well.

Its only coming to Xbox Insiders so far, but that likely means regular console owners will get access to it in an upcoming update.

Once the feature rolls out, you can press X to eject a disc when youre hovering over a movie or a game on the home screen thats being played via disc.

How To Eject A Disc From Your Xbox One Manually

    1. Power off the Xbox One and disconnect all cables from the console.

    2. Get a large paperclip and uncoil it so you have a straight section at least two inches long.

    3. Locate the eject hole, which is located in a different spot depending on what console you have.

    • If you have an original Xbox One, it’ll be on the side of the console, right next to the disk eject button. You’ll need to be looking at the side of the console directly to find it.
    • On a Xbox One S, where the side of the console is filled with holes, you’re going to want to slide your paperclip into hole on the side. It should be the hole that’s seventh from the right and third from the bottom, but if you can’t find it, try holes around that spot. Microsoft themselves recommend starting with “the hole that’s second from the right and second from the bottom.” If you can’t reach the button, try inserting the paperclip at a slight tilt.
    • On the Xbox One X, the manual eject hole is in plain sight, just below the grill on the left side of the console.

    4. Insert the paperclip and gently press inward until a sliver of the disc protrudes from the slot.

    5. Grab the disc and slide it out of the system.

Make sure you check the disc for any sticky residue, stickers that make it too thick, or any other issues before you play the game again.

However, as insignificant as this feature upgrade may appear, some individuals are delighted that it is coming. Ejecting with the gamepad is a much-requested feature that comes in handy in various situations.

Participants of the Xbox Preview Program can now remotely remove whichever disc is on their drive by pressing X on the Xbox Ones home screen. Fans wont have to worry about a defective eject button wrecking their favorite console once Microsoft releases this update for all gamers . Plus, theres nothing quite like making an actual object move with a one-button press to make you feel like a sci-fi future techno-wizard.

How to Manually Eject a Stuck disc from your Xbox One S Console

The Xbox One X contains a slot-loading mechanism to load and eject discs. This reduces the number of moving parts and, therefore, the number of possible failure points on the Xbox One X, making for a more reliable experience than with moving disc trays, which were present on the original Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles.

Before attempting to load a disc into your Xbox One X, first confirm the Xbox One X does not already contain a disc. Press the small disc eject button in the bottom left corner of your Xbox One X console. A quick, and quiet, double tone will sound if the disc slot is empty. At that point it is safe to load your Xbox One, DVD, CD, or Bluray disc into the tray just above the eject button. Simply begin to insert the disc into the slot, and the Xbox One X will grab hold and load it into the console.
